Named after John Elder, who received a land grant from the King of England, the area has deep historical roots, including the Moses Brown House, built around 1785 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Once dominated by farmland as recently as the 1950s, Eldersburg has grown into a well-established suburban destination while holding onto its wooded, hilly setting.
