The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Capitol Village - Lansing, MI
This is me and my parenters first apartment and we love it! Lots of room and incredibly spacious. If you can get past the front desk this place is a good place to live, surprisingly quite for the location and proximity to other renters. One weird thing about this place is every room has a slidding glass door.
Pros: Price. Maintenance guys are nice & try to fix things when they are allowed to. Secured laundry room. Cons: Bad area, horrible management company, the woman who manages the property now is a horrible witch who doesn't care at all & is seriously rude, maintenence requests are sometimes fixed & sometimes not, pest problems including spiders, ants, & mice in the apartments and skunks in the neighborhood and they refuse to keep a steady pest control service, the buildings have been red tagged by the city for eviction for more than a year, water heaters that they refuse to replace until they break all over your unit then take months to replace, cars broken into. Overall, a horrible place & not worth the price, hassle or horrible rude people in the leasing office.
The good reviews, are probably from friends of the staff or people that work there....of course they are going to leave good reviews (don't believe them) Trouble started even before I moved in, and that should have been my clue to stay away. Didn't get the apartment originally promised, then someone else moved out unexpectably (wonder why) and then I got their apartment. The Lights flickered all the time, they moved it to a new breaker worked for a couple of months and then it was worse than before. I would sit in the dark, as I thought the flickering would cause a fire. Was advised it would require the whole apartment to be rewired, which they were not about to do as it was too expensive. Ants live in the bottom of the kitchen cabinets, just disgusting. I'm a clean freak, so the fact that any ants or any type of rodents was just disgusting. Yeah, they require a deposit immediately but it's been over 6 weeks and still have not received any portion of my security deposit back. Staff was horrible to work with, but then they don't like when people complain about their service!
Absolutely love this place! Managment is awsome and the maintenance is top notch ast turn around on repairs and trustworthy! I recommend this place to everyone!
Great location, very close to a variety of stores. Well kept apartments, very clean and cozy. Management is very helpful and friendly. I would recommend these apartments to anyone looking for a safe and affordable location.
Capitol Village is a great place to live. It is quiet and safe. It is in a great location close to stores and work out places. The price is affordable and the management is great. I would highly recommend anyone to check it out.
I cannot stress enough not to live in this complex. If you have any regard for your time, finances, sanity, or personal health and safety; DON'T EVEN VISIT! Maintenance is less competent at repairs than a woman in her mid-twenties. Managment has no concept of, or respect for time. This includes opening times, your personal schedule, or promptness in any matter. It is nearly impossible to get anyone on the phone and messages are rarely answered once you have signed your lease. There is no concept of privacy or tenant's rights, maintenance entered my apartment at least 3 times against my permission. The last time they left ant poison sitting out and I was never issued any MSDS on the substance. There were multiple instances of theft, domestic disputes, break-in attempts, and violations of lease rules. I left in the early part of May after a fire and still have yet to completely get out of this nightmare because they would not submit the request to reimburse me for rent paid during which time the apartment was un-tenable. I know the price seems attractive but it is not worth even half of what they charge.
What I love the most is my apartment is like my own home; I have my very own private white door entry that I can decorate and hang my hat on whenever I want to. Just a quick walk and you are in a great restaurant and or shopping food, clothes, and or just about anything you want. Allison is outstanding; always makes you feel like your family.
I recently visited these apartments and was very pleased with what I saw. I like the neighborhood and it's close to my work and shopping. I filled out an application to hopefully move in. The apartment units are very clean and the property is well kept up. The people in the leasing office were very nice and friendly.
I haven't moved in here myself, but I took a look at the place. They are decent apartments; however they are quite small. If you're looking to move by yourself it's perfect. The two bedroom price is a little steep I believe. You only pay electric (and pet fee if you have one) but they also include a gym membership which I thought was really nice. No noise complaints or complaints about the neighborhood.
