Property Ratings at Camden South End
NOT SAFE. A month ago there was an attempted break in to my apartment while I was home at 1:30 am and they sent the security guard (who never came) and the police could not even get into the complex. They said they were not responsible for my safety, not even accessibility to law enforcement. The staff was completely unsympathetic and there was no follow up. Do not stay here.

We want to make it clear that we, like all other apartment communities, fully cooperate with the police and all emergency personnel. The police department does have access in an emergency, but they did not feel that they needed to use their emergency protocol to enter the building. The police department instead waited on our courtesy officer to grant them access to the building and address your call. After following up with you, we offered to let you transfer onsite and off-site with no fee. We would be happy to discuss these options with you again, personally. first, hey charge the same as other apartments in the area when the apartments are old and poorly maintained. the facilities are super sorry. the gym is nonexistent and the pool is sad. Second, customer service is non existent. They will not call you back once you’ve signed your lease, and you’ll never ever hear from them again until it’s time to renew. When I moved out I left the cable box in my unit. They refused to call me back about returning it and when I finally got someone on the phone they told me “maintenance threw it out, sorry” they’ll all around awful. Spend your money elsewhere where you might have customer service and you’ll certainly have a nicer unit that’s worth the money.

I've lived here over a year and have enjoyed my time here for the most part. Biggest positives location and at the time we rented, it was more affordable than other apartments (not the case now). Negatives: they raised our rent 17.80% year over year (substantial increase and the reason we're leaving), amenities are limited, and the fire alarm has been a consistent issue since move-in. About every 2 months it goes off in the middle of the night due to people taking smoking in the hallways. This has happened over the 15 months I've lived here and has not been resolved. Recently, it went off and I didn't leave my apt because I assumed it was another false alarm. This is dangerous. If you desire a great location and having to move each year because of rent bumps, this is a good property to throw into your cycle of South End

Camden Southend is awesome. The location is great, close to the Light Rail and within walking distance to numerous restaurants and bars. The apartment itself is beautiful with upgraded appliances, garden style tubs, and custom closets. The staff is friendly and it has a pool, fitness center, and business center on-site. It's also quiet - with a courtesy officer on-site to ensure no one is disturbed. I searched several different apartments uptown and this place offered the most upgraded apartment and largest space for the best price. Of course, no place is perfect - the parking situation is like most apartments - a bit of an inconvenience because for the most part there are no assigned spaces - so you're on your own for finding a space. Fortunatenely, the parking garage is on-site and I haven't had trouble finding a space. Also, like all apartments Uptown - it is expensive but from my rental search - its the most you can get for the best price. All in all, Camden Southend is an excellent option for your Uptown rental needs.
