Key Biscayne is a small village on an island of the same name, just offshore from Miami. The landscape is mostly residential, featuring a few grocery stores, shops, and restaurants that allow you to avoid driving to the mainland more than necessary. The few schools on the island earn top marks, and the local crime rate is quite low.
The village is sandwiched between two large greenspaces: Crandon Park to the north is packed with scenic trails, a tennis center, and a golf course, and Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park to the south is home to the popular Lighthouse Café. The neighboring Virginia Key also features huge natural areas, plus the Miami Seaquarium.
Boating, fishing, and scuba diving through the nearby reefs are major pastimes for locals, and of course a day at the beach is always just a short walk away.
