Neighborhood

Characterized by densely populated residential areas and the occasional small shopping center, Millcreek is a safe and comfortable place to live. While not as trendy as Sugarhouse to the north, the neighborhood provides plenty of dining and entertainment options. Families, in particular, love Millcreek for its low crime rate and highly-rated schools.

Millcreek lies just 7 miles south of downtown Salt Lake City, making for a short drive even in the heaviest traffic. Many residents live in the area and commute to the downtown businesses or the University of Utah; Millcreek also lies within a 30-minute drive of many southern suburbs. Just 15 minutes to the east, the Wasatch Mountains provide hiking and skiing opportunities.

Really Great Manager!!

I recently toured this building and was really impressed! Not just by how unique the space is (it used to be an old office building, which gives it a lot of character), but also by how welcoming the staff is. Ian was amazing! You can tell he actually cares. He answered all my questions without any of the usual pushy sales vibe and made the whole experience feel easy. The gym is also way nicer than most places I’ve seen especially considering it isn't a huge building, and the overall feel of the building is clean, updated, and just cool. If you're looking for a place with personality and great people, this one's worth checking out.

Terrible place to live

You can hear everything because the walls are paper thin, there is no management so no one ever answers your emails or calls either! My bike was stolen out of the locked bike room and they won’t give the surveillance footage to the police department for review. You are over charged every month on rent and utilities as well. By far the worst experience I’ve had with an apartment complex.

7/14/21
Great concept, TERRIBLE build

We lived here for 18 months and at first, I liked the open minimalist NY style concept. But then we realized how loud everything is, you can literally hear everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, and if you have kids it’s uncomfortable to hear your neighbors. There were times when the hot water wouldn't work, the windows don't open and there is zero ventilation, so the smell of whatever you cook will linger around for a few hours, but not just in your apartment but in your next-door neighbors too. The parking fee seems unnecessary if you end up in the top level of the garage, there's no cover parking therefore you still have to clean the snow off your vihecle or it's super hot in the summer. we had our vihecle broken into and the security cameras don't work, so there's that. I definitely don't recommend this place unless you don't care about the noise, smells and the necessary fees.

4/7/21
Hidden Fees, LOUD Apartments, Poor Management

Here's everything I wish I knew before I lived at BrickLofts for 13 months. 1. Noise. You will be woken up every morning to your 3-5 neighbors alarms going off. When you hear their alarms crystal clear, you realize they hear everything single thing that happens in your apartment. 2. You will pay for things you do not need or even want. Like paying $120 for DirectTV and internet + $70 to have someone take your trash from your door to the trashcan 100 feet away (but only between 6pm and 8pm) and a parking pass fee of $25-$50 What they advertise is far from what you end up paying every month. 3. Parking in the lot is dangerous. When parked in the well lit lot outside BrickLofts, our car's Catalytic Convertor was stolen which ended up causing $2,000 in damages to the car and making it un-drivable. When asked about the footage to submit a police report, we were ignored. When confronted about the footage with the main office, we were told the cameras are for show and don't actually record. 4. The units themselves are poorly built. In July of last year, I was without Air Conditioning for 2 weeks as I was tasked with managing the maintenance men one my own time and told to deal with working from home in a home that was 87 degrees. 5. The windows do not open. Period. 5. The water and electricity tends to stop working at times. My water has gone off 6 times in my 13 months here, and I was told to shower in another unit before starting my day. My hot water has gone out 3 times now for days at a time. The electricity went out 5 times. 6. The construction. There is a giant apartment building being built next door and we are constantly left notices that construction will begin at 4 am and they are sorry for the inconvenience. 7. Even though its awesome this apartment complex welcomes animals, you will hear every bark, and every step of every dog in a unit within a 3 unit radius. Makes working from home, extremely difficult. 8. The price. Absolutely ridiculous for the quality of the units. Also beware of the renter as they will try to trick you financially. In my case I was told my month to month fee was an additional $500 after the lease ended (when my paper lease said $100) and they welcomed me to extend my lease at the same cost as move in, when the market value (as well as its price online) was $200 cheaper. It was a decent year, in a great location and I was able to make it work for me but beware of the fees. xoxo

Great community; not so efficient building

I’ve been living at brick lofts for five months now. While the neighbors and dog friendly atmosphere has been wonderful I can’t say the same about the units. There is a serious sound issue in this building. I can often hear the elevator ding from the end of the hallway at the other end of the building. I can also hear conversations from my neighbors to the side and below. Something else prospective tenants should watch out for is the inefficient heating system. I pay over $120 for a studio to keep it at 69. While the windows are beautiful they are very drafty.

Noisy property

Good: * Optional covered parking * Complete set of appliances * Very fast Internet * Near freeway, shopping and parks Neutral: * Pet friendly * "Entertainment Package" * Lawn area for dog walking and kids playing in dog poo * Smart home controls for door and some lights * Very industrial, unfinished look if that's your thing, complete with bad door alignments and uneven cheap flooring. Bad: * Absolutely no sound insulation * Visitors can't ring or get to your apartment outside of daytime hours * Can't air out apartments * Expensive to cool or heat Overall this could be an excellent property, if not for the fact that the walls might as well not be there. You can hear every word your neighbors say, dogs barking 24/7, people watching TV, people trying to make new babies... you get the picture. Another gripe is that smells travel between apartments, the only way to combat this is to run the AC fan. The windows don't open. Lastly, the outside doors are locked at night. You absolutely MUST use the Dwelo app to open many of those, and while it works per se, it's not at all intuitive or reliable. Consequently there is a lot of door banging day and night. The doors to the park deck have an RFID chip reader which works a bit better.

Things I wish I knew a year ago.

Brick Loft Apts. Review Pro’s -new -industrial style Con’s -Electric bills over $300.00 -Paper-thin walls -Dirty windows -Barking dogs -Smell I’m writing this review at the end of a 1-year lease. The apartments are nice. The tall ceilings and the industrial style is posh. The windows obviously do not open so it can feel a bit stuff at times. They tell you the windows will be washed regularly, but that hasn’t happened in the last year. The incomplete gym has some nice equipment. We were told there would be free weights at the beginning of the lease and that still hasn’t happened. The walls are thin. I can have a clear conversation with my neighbor without raising my voice. They had a sound engineer visit the apartments but nothing ever came of it. When I brought up the issue, I was told a solution was still months out (this means no solution…). The apartment is pet friendly. This combined with the major sound issues and thin walls means the dogs on your floor decide when you get to sleep. The HVAC unit is extremely low on efficiency. If you look at the unit you can see it has the lowest legal rating. We have spent thousands of dollars on electricity here. I’m not exaggerating. If you like a unit go outside and check the meter. Contact the electric department to get the history so you can get an accurate idea of how much you’ll be paying. Our July and August electric bills were both over $300 maintaining the temp at 70 degrees. The hallways smell like a dumpster. If you want to use the valet trash pick up you are supposed to put trash out between 5 and 7 pm. No one respects this rule so combined with the high summer heat the hallways reak. These are the things I wish I knew a year ago. Best of luck if you choose to lease here.

11/27/19
Amazing

Garage parking, enclosed apartments where you use hallways like in a hotel to get to them. Loft ceilings, elevator and storage space. Mail is inside the building. Usual apartment risks such as dangerous people walking by windows or into the complex or breaking into the car is NOT a risk here. This place is gorgeous and so new an app turns on and off the lights and locks the doors if you want it to.

11/13/19
Great Looking Apartments

We really like our apartment so far. One of the reasons I rented here was the loft style. It is very different than the others. Very high ceilings with all the piping exposed. The kitchen is also a good size. Lots of storage space. The staff was friendly and I like the area. Not as busy (traffic for sure) as Salt Lake and Sugarhouse. I have a pet and they have been really good so far. I have been told they will be putting in a pet park but they do have a grassy area for them to run. Pros: Kitchen, pet friendly, fitness center, plenty of parking, location, loft design Cons: Not many neighbors yet (just opened), no pet park yet Overall, we like it here and would recommend it to others.
