Property Ratings at Beckon
Great place to live, beautiful amenities, prime location. Staff is great and always very helpful. Community events are fun. Love the sky lounge.
Very communicative and easy to move in! Location is great and resident events are fun. Maintenance is responsive and easy to get ahold of. Would recommend.
Great apartment complex with great gym. Staff is very friendly and quick to respond to our inquiries. We value the community we have built so quickly enough though we moved in early part of August.
Lots to enjoy about this place. The building is always clean and organized, the staff are very helpful and friendly, and the facilities (like the gym and pool) are awesome. Great place to live.
I have lived at Beckon for a little less than three months and have enjoyed the experience. The apartment is nice and location is great for work and social activities looking forward to exploring the area more as I have the time.
Great complex with modern amenities. The management team is very responsive; maintenance is quick, and the residents are respectful to the building and other tenants.
Great building - really good staff and maintenance, always clean, really friendly people, great amenities and events. No complaints to share!
I really enjoy living in this apartment. It’s clean, spacious, and in a convenient location with easy access to shops and restaurants. The building is well maintained and quiet, making it feel comfortable and safe. Definitely happy to call this home!
Beckon is a nice looking apartment and situated in a quiet area of downtown Durham. I used to love the community events and had a good time meeting new people. However, recently the events have felt uncomfortable or poorly planned. We’re constantly having technology issues at Beckon that aren’t quickly fixed. Durham has a huge storm that took out the power very briefly but as a result, the locks in the building still do not work in the hallways, the wifi was down in our apartment for an entire week, the wine machine only works half the time, there is always a constant battle with getting the grills to start, and our mailboxes are still misnamed after 2 years. All these things are small alone but together makes me wonder what management is doing. This apartment is WAY too expensive to have to deal with issues like this.
The experience at Beckon till now has been really great. It had been about 2 months since I moved in and there is nothing really to complain about the apartment unit and amenities in general. The gym has the needed equipment for most of the workouts and the pool is great too (though a bit on the smaller side). There are also community events happening on a monthly basis which help us get to know about people staying in the community.
Beckon is an amazing building. I love the aesthetic and community feel of the building. Responsive management and easy application process. Kennedy fielded all of my questions and helped sort me out when I was expressing inital interest. Amenities are the best part including a full gym in which the building manager was open to feedback and ordered more equipment. They host community gatherings that are wholesome and thoughtful, as well. Best part is the location: I find that I rarely drive since most things I enjoy doing are downtown and walkable. Highly recommend.
I have been here for 1.5 years now. And I’m seeing the quality of care go down. Our fridge was broken for 6 months. Noise concerns never got addressed. There use to be a fresh gorgeous bouquet every week at the front desk, that’s gone. Garbage in the hallways for days before getting cleaned. Maria the first cleaner was excellent- bring her back and pay her more.
So far so good, we moved in officially this month. I love how quiet the complex is (outside of the garbage truck). We've had a good time walking to the local restaurants and farmers market. We've always wanted to live downtown and love that we are doing so at The Beckon!
Perfect location in downtown Durham, lovely apartments, and great amenities. And very pet friendly!
Living at Beckon Apartments has been both grounding and expansive. Nestled in Durham’s warehouse district, it balances calming interiors, thoughtful design, and walkability to yoga in the park, wine tastings, and spontaneous connection—ideal for a neurodivergent mind seeking ease. The coworking spaces and rooftop lounge support deep work and quiet reset. As an introvert and wellness facilitator shifting into MedTech/AI, I’ve found a community that feels kind, creative, and globally aware. Nicole on the leasing team made my cross-country move feel like a landing, not a leap. Beckon isn’t just housing—it’s the scaffolding for intentional, integrated living. With story-driven community-building, it could become Durham’s curated hub for modern belonging.
Beckon is quiet and cozy. Maintenance is quick and very friendly. My only complaints are related to the grills and price. The grills are constantly broken for one way or another. I don’t know how residents keep breaking them. It’s not hard to use. Additionally, it is a bit crazy how much Beckon costs in downtown Durham. It really shouldn’t be that expensive.
The management is SPECTACULAR! The incredible women work so hard to support and get the residence needs met. The amenities are always clean and the snacks left out by staff make it feel like home.
Overall have loved our experience at Beckon, sad to be moving out this May! The space is great and the community is wonderful. Love all the amenities. Have only had a few maintenance issues and noise issues, but it was a brand new building when we moved in so that's expected.
Everything has been great, dog park is a little loud at times. The building is always clean and staff is super friendly. Looking forward to my time with Bekon.
Great staff, fantastic amenities in an awesome location. Highly recommend touring the exact unit you wish to rent, as some have subtle inconveniences you won't know unless you're here (overpowered loud in-unit HVAC with vents aimed directly at where your head would be when you put a couch in the only reasonable spot for one, streetlights 7 feet from your bedroom window, loud building HVAC on the roof vibrating the light fixtures on the ceiling, to name a few). Overall am satisfied with my stay, however.
The staff is awesome. Great location. Excellent amenities. Also the unit we selected has an exterior entrance making it ideal for us and our dog. This all makes for a top notch living experience
So far my experience has been amazing. The tours and application process have been great! Really huge shout out to Adrian for being patient with us as we wanted to see all the Floorplan and different views.
We love our unit and the building amenities. The events that Jordan and Mica host are the best! And the Beckon staff are lovely. Our biggest issue is that the floors/ceilings and the walls to outside the building are not well insulated. There is a constant mechanical noise that comes off the top of the Durham ID building when it's warm that we can hear in our living room. It's so loud on our balcony that we can't use it during all the months we'd want to. We are also near the dog park and hear dogs bark at all hours - windows closed, doors closed, even with music or a sound machine on, we can hear barking. This wasn't an issue our first year here, but the dog park has become increasingly popular for big dogs with owners that let their dogs bark as much as they want. We have neighbors who can no longer study in their apartments, and it's become difficult to work from home with all the noise. So the building itself is great, but if you're noise sensitive I would pick a unit in the back.
Beckon is an all encompassing apartment with everything you could possibly need. Not only is the staff always available and helpful, but I feel truly like I'm living in a luxury or boutique hotel. Each day I can step out of my unit and experience one of the amenities. The gym and the common areas are better than any other building we viewed in the triangle. I look forwarding to living here for a while!
Great staff and living amenities. The facilities are clean and well-maintained, and staff are very responsive and supportive for every need.
This is a beautifully designed condo in Durham. Steps to the farmers market, the many entertainments and trails. Excellent community events too. I love living here. The main issue is the insulation is minimal so noise travels easily. The neighbor upstairs stomping, the garbage pickup at 3am… all wake you up in the middle of the night.
Beckon is a nice option to live in downtown durham with it being situated a block away from the Main Street. It allows for you to escape the noise from the Main Street but still be able to walk to everything. The vents beckon puts on are always interesting and fun. However the mailroom is typically a huge disaster and the “free” snacks and wine is typically inaccessible/empty. Overall, if you’re looking to spend a ridiculous amount to live in downtown Durham, beckon is a good choice. Durham is just way more expensive than it needs to be.
The wine machine is only open during office hours, and the food bin is rarely stocked. Aside from the nice neighborhood and friendly maintenance team, it’s another overpriced downtown apartment
It has been great living at the Beckon so far. The gym is great! I enjoy the up to date features of the apartment and the storage, especially in a studio!
Love the building and its size, and also the price compared to other units in the area. Soundproofing is not great though. Be prepared to hear your upstairs neighbours toilet flushing and general moving around. Generally speaking the building itself is very quiet. The amenities and events are great, and the leasing office are very helpful and welcoming. I’m really enjoying living here so far.
I’ve had a great experience at Beckon so far as a new resident! There were a few maintenance issues upon move in that Adrian was super responsive to and Sean was great getting everything resolved! I love my apartment and the amenities are great!
Beckon, a delightful place to call home in Durham. Nestled in a prime location, you’ll enjoy easy access to all the city’s vibrant offerings. Take a leisurely weekend stroll to the farmers market or indulge in some delicious food at the nearby Durham Food Hall. Grocery, shopping, and downtown are all within walking distance. It’s a dream come true for those who prefer a car-free lifestyle. Plus, the on-site park and dog park make it even more fun. If you’re a professional in AI or health tech, you’ll be thrilled to know that Beckon is just a stone’s throw away from Durham’s innovation hub. The amenities here are top-notch, especially the well-equipped gym with a heavy bag for stress relief. And the beautifully decorated co-working lounge creates a cozy and inviting space. Beckon is all about inclusivity and safety, with secure access for residents and guests. If you’re looking for convenience, comfort, and community, Beckon is the perfect choice in Durham.
Beckon is a nice new apartment located in the heart of downtown Durham. It is a very nice complex full of diverse individuals with myriad backgrounds. Students and working professionals fill the building and they are all nice neighbors. The staffs at Beckon have been very welcoming and never get tired of answering the residents' redundant questions. I think the highlight of Beckon is not only the property, however also the staffs who work in the building
The only positive is that the staff is helpful and responsive. Construction quality is lower than you'd expect moving from a more developed area, but par for downtown Durham. Appliances are not very reliable, in the space of a few months I've had two appliances repaired. Each time, ordering parts took a few weeks. Apartment is very dog-centric. To live here you should either be a dog owner or comfortable walking through all kinds of dirt, leaves, fur etc. on a daily basis. The cleaning service can't keep up with the dirt all the dogs track in so some hallways are generally squalid and dirty. Walls are thin so neighbors are audible: you'll hear music, and know if they are cooking, assembling furniture etc. The only real community seems to be the dog-owner clique - some folks are normal, and some make dog ownership their entire personality. Package room is a mess, you usually need to look through every shelf to find your package. I recommend you live elsewhere if you have options.
Been here over a month now. The amenities are great, we love the location and the common spaces are beautiful! I feel rejuvenated anytime I visit the common spaces, like the sky view on 7! ??
Really nice amenities and building. I feel very safe and comfortable here. My apartment is generally quiet, not too much noise. I occasionally hear the toilet flushing in the bathroom upstairs and some general banging about, but after living in NYC I’m very used to more noise than this. The fragrance pumped out in the common areas, especially the lift can be a bit overpowering at times, it can get to the back of my throat and make me cough. Otherwise I like how plush everything feels.
I’m so pleased with the process from touring the property through lease and move in. Adriann was there every step of the way and was very detail oriented in the process. Adriann was so patient as we toured different floor plans to find the right one for our needs. Thank you!
When we moved back to Durham after being away 20 years we were astonished at how great the amenities are at Beckon on Day 1. Moving in was a breeze and we love being able to walk to the Durham Bulls or take an eScooter;-)
Great experience across the board. Nothing like this place.
We love this place! Great location, Great place to live and AMAZING staff. Always willing to help.
I hate it here. I’ve never been treated so poorly by leasing office staff. We weren’t able to move in when our lease started which really ruined many things I had been looking forward to for quite some time (my graduation, the start of a new position, and my birthday) and at move-in numerous things did not work (back door, closet door, water dispenser, water filter, ice dispenser, thermostat, storage room doesn’t have a key, mail wasn’t being delivered, Luxor lockers didn’t work, the list goes on…). One would think if you had wronged someone to this degree you would be nice about it, but at Beckon they really went the opposite way with it and have literally just shouted over and over again “have a nice day” because they don’t want to hear any complaints. I didn’t know that was an option as an adult but here we are.
beautiful building, great amenities, very pleasant staff. We love it so far! Best place I have ever lived.
Beckon has orivided beautiful apartment spaces in the heart of downtown. We have counted over 100 restaurants in under a mile radius. Trivia nights music theatre baseball all within walking distance. The gym has everything we would want and the common area are welcoming relaxing and always impeccably maintained. The three ladies who manage the property are so pleasant, funny and respectful as well as responsive. It’s a pleasure to interact with them regularly. Maintenance is top notch. It’s a great place to call home
The Beckon team has been incredibly responsive and welcoming. The move in process was swift and the accommodations and amenities are standout! Would highly recommend to friends.
