Property Ratings at Barry Court
I enjoyed the distance to the interstate, but that's about it. If it rains more than 5 minutes, it will flood and block the entrance to the apartments. If you park elsewhere they will have your car towed. Your best bet is to park in the road or across the street at the dollar store. I lost my car in a flood, bought a new one, and that car was damaged in another flood soon after. My boyfriend lost his car. During the hurricane, the roof fell off, and water POURED into our windows and doors because it wasn't sealed. We had numerous ant infestations because there's no sealant on the windows and floors. Maintenance is delayed; we had to live in a hotel room because no one came to fix our toilet and we could not use the restroom. The dishwasher was black on the inside, I've never seen that before. We lost $7900 in expenses from moving, replacing our items that were damaged during any rain. Lastly, we freed us from our lease after we started to seek legal counsel because being reasonable does not work with this man. He forced us to pay rent regardless of the fact that we had no power, a hole in our roof, and a molded floor. After we moved, he sought more money to cover the rest of the lease. LA State Rent covered the rest of the lease, then he emailed us months later requesting late fees. I reported this to the bureau and haven't heard from him since. I suggest getting top tier car, life, and renter's insurance before moving in. Also, pay attention to the numbers, our security deposit increased a few days before we moved in. Also, he will ignore your calls if you contact him with too many problems. One night, our neighbor's apartment was on fire, and we called him multiple times and he rejected our calls (he had been doing this before because we were requesting a lease termination because we could no longer deal with the molded floor, ant/roach infestation, and the constant flooding) until we had his parents call him and inform him of what happened. Move in at your own peril.
