West Ashley sits within the city of Charleston and is west of the Ashley River, hence its name, and is the birthplace of Hootie & the Blowfish’s frontman, Darius Rucker. Lined with mossy oaks, the Ashley and Stono Rivers border West Ashley, creating the breathtaking scenery for which Charleston is known. West Ashley residents enjoy close proximity to the area's only indoor mall, the Citadel Mall, and a large number of big-box stores.
Situated seven miles due west of Downtown Charleston, residents can plan on a 15- to 30-minute drive, depending on traffic, to take in all downtown has to offer. Nearby Interstate 526, which feeds directly into Charleston’s Interstate Highway 26, gives residents a fast and easy route in and out of area. Mid- to late-1900s ranch-style homes characterize the housing in outer West Ashley, but neighborhoods built in the 2000s also sprinkle the area.

Waste of money. Parking is a joke. You are supposed to be guaranteed at least one spot in your lease yet I find myself parking 3 buildings away every night because guests are taking up all the spots. Amenities are constantly in a state of disrepair. Pool is closed more often than it’s open. Packages are frequently stolen and management has offered no explanation or solution. Trash pickup is spotty at best and the rules for pickup are constantly changing. Don’t even get me started on the noise. Walls are paper thin and there is no sound proofing whatsoever. You are better off looking elsewhere in West Ashley.

I have been here for 4 years and still love it. The community is clean, well kept and the clubhouse is beautiful. They keep up to date with amenities and are always looking for ways and suggestions on adding new things. The staff are very friendly and helpful, it's always nice chatting with them. If you are looking for a comfortable, cozy, and pretty place to call home, Atlantic at Grand Oaks is it. This is a lovely, lovely community. The apartments are in beautiful condition, and the grounds and environment are pristine. All of the staff here are so welcoming and have set the bar pretty darn high!

Atlantic at Grand Oaks is overall an amazing place to reside. Tierney, Kimberly, Missy, Max, and Christopher make the best team that I have seen in a while. I definitely know the quality of great service when I get it and AGO West Ashley has great quality.

From the amenities to the location, I love living here. Everything you need is within a 5-10 minute drive. It's quieter back here off the main roads which is nice. The pool and club house are beautiful. The staff is friendly and engaging

So far it has been the best yet in west ashley. I love the fast responses and the fact they already call me by name after less than a month. Very quite and congenial neighborhood. Love my apartment.

Overall Atlantic is an amazing property with very minimal issues. Every issue is usually handled promptly. The AGO team as a whole are amazing.

I love my time at Atlantic Oaks so far! Everyone is friendly and the area is very clean and quiet. The community events are nice too. The only issue is the lack of available parking near the unit you’re in.

Living the grand life at Grand Oaks. The staff, maintenance, and grounds keepers are all friendly and hard workers. The amenities are great and the community is clean, friendly and safe. The location is prime and a 5 min away from all your needs!

Super friendly and helpful staff. The apartments are lovely. Spacious and tons of natural light. Also so many conveniently placed power outlets. You never realize how much you appreciate that until you've lived in a place without enough outlets.

The apartment itself (minus the roach infestation) is absolutely gorgeous. The amenities are beautiful, the property is beautiful, and it might be one of my favorite apartments I’ve lived in. The leasing office team is attentive but it is definitely noticeable that the maintenance team is short staffed. Despite having some pretty major issues, I do still love this apartment and, for the most part, I’m excited to call it home. The community atmosphere here seems delightful and overall quite positive.
