Located in central Connecticut, this neighborhood of homes and rentals sits midway between Hartford to the north and New Haven to the south, a 30-minute commute in both directions via highway or the Amtrak rail system. History buffs love the number of National Register of Historical Places in this town, including the former Meriden Curtain Fixture Company factory, a sprawling red brick building converted into the Charles Street Place Apartments.
Outdoor spaces also hold historical landmark status, such as the world-renowned 1,800-acre Hubbard Park from the designers of New York's Central Park. Meriden provides 24 municipal parks, one of the top 10 public golf courses in Connecticut, and three dedicated trails for hiking, biking, and running.
Residents gather at the award-winning Ted's Restaurant, an area staple for over 50 years and home to the first steamed cheeseburger.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at The Arlo
I am a former tenant of The Arlo and wanted to share my experience. The management is focused on profit, raising rent when you renew and creating loopholes in the lease to extract more money. There were multiple car break-ins, including mine and several others in one night, yet they take no responsibility and refuse to install security cameras around the property. It’s not worth paying such high rent for poorly managed apartments, especially when you can’t even park safely. And if you want to rent a garage spot, the price increases every year. The complex is noisy, and the smell of weed seeps through the walls. On top of that, you’re responsible for paying all utilities, including sewage, while your property remains unsafe. Save yourself the headache and avoid this place.

Future residents, be aware that this complex is aggressive about towing vehicles for parking violations. There was also a recent instance of poor communication regarding parking lot repairs. While they did post maps on residents door, they were confusing and didn't effectively block off areas to be repaired ahead of time. Additionally, they told residents to move their vehicles by 8 am and then instructed the towing company to begin towing at 8:15 am, guess what? The towing company were so thirsty for the residents money, they started towing vehicles exactly at 8:00 AM. I like the two ladies in the front office, maintenance folks are cool. The apartment layout sucks, walls are thin, if you’re not an animal person, not the place for you

So I’ll start out with 100% honesty, I will not sugar coat anything, when I first moved here in 2020 it was great at first, I have been living here for about a year and a half & now it’s just horrible, the upstairs neighbors constantly making noise at 3am, their dogs constantly barking at god knows what, & the neighbor right next to me playing really loud blaring music at hours where I just want to chill out and relax.. the rent is ridiculously high especially for an area like this… it’s definitely not worth the price considering there’s not really anything you can do around here unless you have a car to get around, unfortunately, I will not be resigning my lease here considering with new management everything just went down hill… I would not recommend anyone to live here long term.

So I can start with being very honest about the process to getting the apartment. I checked out the Avon floor plan. I did end up signing papers and all During the process they told me it was exactly as the video shown on YouTube. Well they were wrong Granite Countertop was missing, Garage is much smaller, No storage on Deck. I asked for them to lower the $2020 price point of rent and they declined and told me to buy there storage unit for $35 more a month. The baseboard is made of foam so they are very cheap, hot water lasts maybe 10 minutes, dogs constantly barking outside and for a couple months someone had a dog running up and down the stairs next door to us. I unfortunately will not be resigning our lease since management was not willing to work with us when we moved in and we are out in October.

I will be moving in on June 10th and I am very excited. Upon doing the self-guided tour I was extremely impressed with the units and the upkeep of the property. I was also satisfied with the representative Marika.
Very professional and courteous. Could not have asked for a better experience.
Leasing staff were so friendly, transparent, and communicative.
Amazing communication, the staff is very pleasant to talk to. They are very helpful and responsive! They genuinely make the move in experience exciting!
Would recommend. Very friendly staff and the apartments look very nice and comfortable to live in.
Amazing response time and great communication
I would certainly recommend this apartment community to any friend or family member, with the only "caveat" being the expensive rent (in my opinion) I have made this point in the past, but I understand that people do NOT have many options for apartment rentals in MERIDEN. This community is very safe and well maintained. My personal experience living here for several years now has always been positive (with very few exceptions)
This was a temporary residence after we sold our home and were waiting for our new house to be built. It served our needs well. Safe clean community, nice gym, and every person I met along the way was courteous and respectful. I would highly recommend this complex.
I would certainly recommend this apartment complex to friends and family, except for the concern about high rental rates.
I would recommend it because it seems that they want you to have a "peace of mind" way to live.
I think the management and maintenance teams in this complex do an excellent job in their respective areas. I have not had any negative experiences in all the years that I live here (since June 2011) I am very pleased in that regard.
There is a lot of dog feces that are not picked up by people and that should be addressed by the office. Overall, I like my apartment but neither heat or hot water are included in the rent, which I should have picked up on when deciding to rent here. Most other complexes include at least hot water. I have yet to be able to take a hot bath because the tank is so small there isn't enough water to do so. And the hallway carpets are beginning to look stained, which is embarrassing when guests come over to visit....
Its a good safe area with all the amenities which I need.
I will recommend. However, for kids the lack of play area is what we found lacking.
Maintenance is on time and always does a good job.
Everyone is great here, very responsive and helpful all the time.
Very well run business. Clean and inviting at all times.
Everyone is very helpful and its really a community to belong to .
I would strongly recommend this apartment community to anyone who would ask me, I love it here, the service you get here is outstanding
I loved living in Alvista Willow Brook and only moved because we had to relocate. We would recommend to anyone in central CT to live here! It is so well maintained and friendly and feels very safe.
YES
it is a very nice community and efficient in the services needed . I always feel safe and well taken care off all the day . This community becomes your family .
Staff always meet my needs in any situation I find myself in when it comes to maintenance problems,They are all so courteous and very kind

It?s a beautiful, safe place to live but it is expensive and a little bit loud at times.
The cost is just too high for Meriden. Tenants down the hall were smoking alot of dope, I had to call the police on the tenant above because of a domestic. Nice place but just too much money for me and where it is
Apartments are nice, high ceilings, staff responds in a timely manner. Maintenance is quick usually fixed the same day. Safe environment. The cons - Price for rent is very high and no assigned parking. I have assigned parking at my new place and it makes such a big difference! It's great!
The maintenance personnel are very professional and courteous. They do a lot to keep the property clean even though they have to deal with residents who not feel compelled to keep the property clean and (dog owners) to clean up after their pets.
I would recommend this place of the price wasnt so high. 1300 per month is abit much for no utilities included.
The buildings are top quality. The walls and floors are solid and very well insulated. That makes it quiet and very easy to heat. The lighting and plumbing fixtures are impressive - beautiful, functional, and solid. I live in a studio apartment but the kitchen is huge! The counters are large and well designed. The cabinets are plentiful, attractive, and made of quality materials. The pantry is large and full of shelving. The ceilings are high. The in-unit washer and dryer are full size. There is a shelf in the laundry area. I decided to go for an optional private, indoor garage. I also decided to rent an optional, fully enclosed storage unit in the building. The location of the complex is ideal. It is less than 1 mile to several highways (15, 91, 691) yet the complex backs to woods! There are a bunch of employers in numerous industrial parks within a five mile radius as well. The town of Meriden has Hubbard Park. The staff is friendly and competent. The gym has dumbbells ranging from 2.5 to 50 pounds in addition to cardio equipment. Living at Alvista Willow Brook will make you feel special.

Hello There, We are very happy to hear you are enjoying the community. Please be sure to reach out if there is anything you need. Thank you, Alvista Willow Brook
I would definitely recommend this apartment community to friends and family. It is a great place to live, it is safe, and I always feel that the management is very responsive to any requests and/or concerns from the residents. The maintenance team is always very efficient and very prompt, which is very important to me. If I had any reason NOT to recommend this apartment community to others it would be the expensive rent. I have expressed this opinion in the past, and I still feel that way. I am happy to live here, especially because I am on my own and there are not too many options for nice apartments and I wanted to be in a safe location. But I do believe that the rents are too high for a town like Meriden. Other than that, I would highly recommend this community to anyone looking for an apartment.
I would recommend this apartment overall, however I feel for the price it is not worth it...it should be more centrally located for the price
The apartments are clean and good quality. I haven't had trouble parking near my door. I have not yet met a mean person.
Would not recommend living on bottom floor. Garages were loud as were the sports cars idling at 6 in the morning
The rooms are nice and offer nice features. Having the option of a garage rather than covered parking or regular parking is nice to have. The only thing I don't like is its a little farther from work for me and the surrounding area isn't quite as nice as some other apartments.
The community itself is great and easy access to the highway, restaurants, shopping and etc.
Staff very friendly and they keep the place VERY clean.
my only reservation in recommending this apartment community to any friend or relative would be the high rents. I have already expressed that opinion before. However, as I have also explained before, we do have some advantages over other apartment communities in this area, so we have to weigh in all factors when we consider living here.
The staff is friendly and the community is well maintained. The apartments are well designed and the closet space is more than sufficient.
apartments are quiet, the people who live (and work) her are very friendly and the maintenance people are very good and quick.
Loud traffic going by all day and night: loud trucks.
people friendly, property well taken care of, personal well on point with needs of the occupants
Can wait to move in 24 hrs gym walking close your own Landry room two bathrooms it's a dream Apt
Perfectly located in the middle of Connecticut. 30 minutes to everything in every direction - airport, New Haven, Hartford, and the shoreline. Train station close by, a walk to the industrial parks, yet in a very quiet part of town. Clean apartments, well managed, never lost power in 3 years even through winter storms. Some challenges as with any other apartment complex but an 8 out of 10! Alani K, Meriden CT
Very clean place to live, management is hands on and fixes any problems that arise. Pool and gym area are always clean as well as the landscaping! Newly renovated with granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances! I love my balcony too, I can sit out there in the morning at my table and enjoy my coffee peacefully! Easy on and off the highway which is awesome! I LOVE it here! :)
