Located in Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley, Allentown combines city convenience with neighborhood charm. The downtown area continues to grow, centered around the PPL Center arena, with an expanding selection of restaurants and cultural venues. The city's architecture tells its story through preserved Victorian homes in historic districts and craftsman-style houses along the West End's tree-lined streets. Outdoor enthusiasts can explore the Lehigh Parkway and Cedar Beach, which offer miles of trails and recreational spaces. Allentown is also home to Muhlenberg College and Cedar Crest College, contributing to the city's educational landscape.
Housing choices include downtown apartments in restored buildings and homes throughout established neighborhoods. The rental market remains stable, with one-bedroom apartments averaging $1,415, showing a 1.64% annual increase. Residential options span from the Old Allentown district to the West End and East Side communities.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Allendale Apartments
the office staff is always willing to help and assist whenever I need help. The staff has helped me set up my portal and explain things when I don't understand. Maintenance is on the ball and quick to answer calls for repair. Allendale has continued to upgrade the property with things that tenants can appreciate. New paved parking lots are wonderful and easy to see the numbers. We now have grills to grill our meals on in the summer. I like that. I would recommend moving here. I love my place.
I have been a resident of this apartment complex for 6 years, and my experience has been extremely negative, particularly over the past year. Rent Increase: The management has increased the rent by a staggering 50%, which is completely unjustified given the deteriorating living conditions. This hike is outrageous and has made living here financially burdensome. Poor Maintenance: Maintenance services are virtually non-existent. Requests for repairs are often ignored or addressed inadequately. Common areas are dirty, and essential amenities like the pool and gym are frequently out of order. The lack of upkeep is evident throughout the complex. Everything in the apartment needed to be replaced in the first year including the toilet, water heater, and the washer / dryer do not work properly, yet management ignores all requests. Shame on them!!! Pest Infestation: Pest infestation is a serious issue here. Despite numerous complaints and requests for pest control, the problem persists. It's distressing and unhygienic to deal with pests in your living space. Mice, roaches and birds roam freely throughout the buildings. Black Mold: One of the most alarming issues is the presence of black mold. This poses a significant health risk, and management's lack of action to address it is unacceptable. Living in such conditions is hazardous, especially for individuals with respiratory issues. Additional Problems: There are numerous other issues that add to the dissatisfaction. The noise levels are high, parking is inadequate, and security measures are lacking. Overall, the quality of living here has declined drastically. In summary, I would strongly advise against moving into this apartment complex. The rent increase, coupled with poor maintenance, pest infestations, black mold, and numerous other problems, make it a terrible place to live. Seek out better options if you value your health and well-being.
Management does not really care about your comfortability or enjoyment of your rental space. Repairs are are poorly done, there’s bugs and mold in the units, and terrible hard water. The dog park has had a broken gate for over a year, there is no more swimming pool, and any “improvement” done can not justify how high the rent has gone up. I’ve seen obvious drug deals, loud parties through the night, broken in cars, dogs off their leashes, so many things that go against the lease and management does nothing. Other tenants park semi trucks (which is illegal) right next to bedroom/living room windows waking up other residents with loud idling engines and bright headlights at all hours of the night and MANAGEMENT DOES NOTHING! They don’t care about your quiet enjoyment. They just want their money, and they will nickel and dime you for everything they can. There’s another resident who has multiple out of inspection or out of state cars taking up parking that they are selling on marketplace and again, it’s just allowed to continue. Another neighbor told me the people who lived upstairs from them had parties with attending people urinating in the bushes at 4am, hitting parked cars with their own, starting fights, and getting arrested but it wasn’t until they were behind on their rent did they get evicted. Find a whole house for what you will pay here and save yourself the headache.
Moved here several years ago. Unit is alright, I enjoy the fact that I have a w/d in unit, but the shoddy repairs over the years are quite evident. I can barely try to maintain and clean the place with out something just breaking in my hand or paint coming off. Even with pest control there are seasonal influxes of various insects in the apartment. Dishwasher is terrible at cleaning and the hardwater is the worse I've ever had to live with. The latest hike in rent is absolutely ridiculous for 0 done in the unit to justify. Access to the pool is a joke - limited days and hours, or just closed entirely for multiple summers. Neither the pool nor gym access is included with rent and will cost extra to use when either are actually open. Dog park has never gotten anything added to it as was stated to me at first visit. It has stayed a plain grass lot with a broken gate, plenty of left behind dog waste, that is located next to a playground with both being bordered by a wooded area with tons of ticks. I can hear my neighbors conversations at all hours but leasing office does not seem to care if neighbors are violating rules/laws with even drug use or parking issues.
I recently move here, and so far I like the community. The neighborhood is very safe and quiet. I had some issues with the apartment but it was resolved quickly, I just waiting to one order work to the done. The maintenance man is very friendly equal to the lady from the office. I like that when I moved here they gave all the information I need of the community such as the schools, daycare, and close restaurant, I found it very convenient for me. Overall, I like the apartment. I feel it as home, and my children enjoy living here. I live in a townhouse 3 bedroom.
