The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Property Ratings at 929 Mass
The only redeeming qualities of this place is the location (close to Central), and the views. I had lived here for 12 months and could not wait to move out. The maintenance nightmares are too many to count. The worst one that comes to mind, was the refusal to patch up a ceiling crack that ran wall to wall. The water pipes had burst on the floor above and the crack was leaking water onto my bed in the bedroom. They said the crack was "to small" to fix. Nearly all my appliances were replaced with smaller, cheaper versions and any floor/ ceiling water damage was never fixed. The circuit breaker couldn't handle running heat/AC in both the bedroom and the living room at the same time. I could go on... On move out day the Community Manager almost got in a fist fight with the movers I hired. The professionalism at this place is a joke. The elevators look to be 50 years old and small. It was amazing my furniture was able to fit. The fire department was called in late January to rescue someone stuck in the elevator. Also, when they say "freight elevator", what they mean is, you can reserve one of the two regular elevators. There is no separate "freight elevator". I would urge anyone thinking to move into this place to look for something else. You can find better places for the money.
929 House has been a great place to live. The apartments are well maintained, and some have amazing views and are full of light. The management is responsive and helpful. I have never lived in a more quiet building, and only very rarely can I hear anything from my neighbors. The building went smoke-free last year, which is a great improvement (before would occassionally smell smoking from neighbors). Perhaps the best part is the location--an easy walk to central and Harvard square with great access to the red line, and the 1 bus literally at your doorstep.
