About This Home
Completed in 1961 as a residential rental apartment building known originally as Mercer House, 88 Bleecker is one of the hidden gems and best values in NoHo. Built on a site that replaced four nineteenth century buildings at a time when most buildings were being demolished for parking lots, the building flourished as the neighborhood evolved and converted to a coop in 1981. The building was designed by H. I. Feldman, an architect who was responsible for numerous apartment-house projects built by developers from the 50s to the 70s, ranging from Greenwich Village and Murray Hill to Yorkville. It features 7 floors and 106 apartments with two elevators, a virtual doorman, and a wonderful staff that includes a live-in and knowledgeable super and a long standing helpful porter who keep the building in wonderful condition. Located in the thriving vortex between NoHo, SoHo, Nolita and Greenwich Village, 88 Bleecker sits on a quiet part of Bleecker Street between Mercer and Broadway. It is a pet friendly building with private bicycle and storage space, a clean bright laundry room, and a reasonably priced garage for in-building parking. The virtual doorman can allow access for packages to be signed for by the super and left in a secured room for shareholder pick-up. Close to a wide array ofNYCculture including dinning, shopping, nightlife, live music, the Angelica Theater, galleries, etc. It is also near most subway lines including the B/D/F/M/N/R and 6 trains.Description provided byPeter Gumas

Located between Chelsea and Soho, Greenwich Village is a beloved Manhattan neighborhood famously recognized as the center of the 1960’s counterculture movement. Greenwich Village, also referred to as simply “the Village,” has never lost its artistic vibe and bohemian feel. As New York’s central artistic hub, and one of the city’s most densely populated neighborhoods, Greenwich Village offers a tight-knit community with a vast array of people and personalities.
Opportunities abound in Greenwich Village. The Village proudly flaunts the famous New York University, one of the largest and most well-known private universities in the country. Both selective and diverse, NYU lends an intellectual vibe to the community, attracting students, faculty, and staff from all over the world. Renters in Greenwich Village enjoy proximity to other staple landmarks, such as the Washington Square Arch.
