Commonly referred to as West Bank or Riverside, Cedar-Riverside has long been known as the artistic center of Minneapolis. The neighborhood attracted a slew of intellectuals, artists, actors, and musicians in the 1960s. That period of time earned this neighborhood the title of the Haight-Ashbury of the Midwest.
A couple of decades later, the open-minded culture of the neighborhood made it a welcoming place for an eclectic mix of residents, including students and creative types. Apartments have popped up along the western border formed by the I-94 and I-35W. There are cafes and restaurants on Riverside Ave., and attractive parks along the Mississippi River. The neighborhood celebrates its heritage and history annually at the Bohemian Flats Music Festival.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at 7west
Would definitely recommend! I lived in 7West for five and a half years, while getting a PhD, and it made living through grad school and COVID-19 a bit more bearable. The building has a nice location between downtown and UMN, making it ideal for grad/law students or young professionals. The gym and clubhouse are nice facilities (really high quality for a building that’s not a high rise), and they have frequent resident events with free snacks and drinks. I find the common areas and halls super aesthetically pleasing and nice to come home to after a long day. Might not seem like a huge deal, but the windows are both beautiful and super well insulated (which you’ll be thankful for in the MN winters, especially if you’re from out of town). The in-unit appliances are also high quality and large enough to not be constantly doing laundry/dishes. There aren’t as many restaurants nearby as you might get in dinkytown or downtown, but TownHall Brewery and 7Corners Coffee are definitely great options and were go-to places for me (and great for happy hours or off-site but non-zoom work meetings). Only other negative I’d mention is a somewhat high price, but you get what you pay for and 7West is definitely a decent value for the location and amenities. Overall, I had a great time at 7West, and want to give shoutouts to Andrew Z, Danielle G, and the awesome maintenance team who made my years there smooth sailing. If you can swing it, definitely give this place a try!

Thank you so much for your five-star review, it is truly the best praise! The entire team feels overjoyed to know that they are succeeding in their goal of providing five-star service to our valued residents!
First, some of the managers' attitude is really bad. They still help you, but they will ignore you in the next day, just like you did something really bad. Second, the environment is not as good as the website description. You can smell stinky sometimes in the corridor. They don't upgrade the new items for the fitness room even though the item REALLY needs to be replaced. Third, sometimes you can not find the manager because they come in late. Overall, I will say, if not necessary I will definitely not choose this place. It does not deserve the price.

Hello, We are interested in speaking with you directly regarding your experience. We would reach out to you directly but we can't find your name in our system. Please feel to reach out to our team by phone or email at 612.643.5527 or 7west@weidner.com, we would love to hear more about your experience and how we can better meet your expectations.
7West has been such a wonderful place to live since moving from out of state. We chose to live at 7West based on its location to me and my husband’s work, price, amenities. The staff goes above and beyond for their residents and does their best to ensure safety and resident satisfaction. We also acquired a pet while living here, and 7West is so pet-friendly and has plenty of space outside for our pet to play and do it’s business. Also, if there are any maintenance needs, they are done efficiently and quickly. We feel our apartment has plenty of space for our needs and the upscale furnishings are definitely appreciated. We love living here and thanks to the staff at 7West, we have always felt at home!

Good Morning! Thank you for the positive feedback! I am glad to hear of the items you liked and we agree, the 7west team is awesome! I will be sure to pass along your words of encouragement to the team. Kind Regards, Danielle
7west is a bit on the pricey side, however it’s a great place for law students and those working downtown. Jessy, Thomas, Cindy, and Danielle are at the top of their game. ??They do a good job with community events, and make sure everyone gets their packages. On Wednesday mornings coffee and breakfast are available. Gotta try the pancakes!

Thank you so much for your kind words. We appreciate you taking the time out of your day to let us know how much you are enjoying being a part of the 7west community. Wake up with Weidner breakfast is the best! We are so glad to have you as a resident and look forward to hearing from you again in the future! Take care, Danielle
We lived at 7West for a few years before moving to the other side of town for awhile. When it came time to move once more, we jumped at the chance to live here again! Some of our favorite things about 7West include: * Amazing staff that really cares about their residents. I've seen/heard of everything from them sending flowers to newly engaged couples to helping move-ins from out of the country get acclimated. There are regular resident events with delicious food and amazing prizes. And the care doesn't just extend to the human residents... dogs are favorite visitors to the leasing office, with scrumptious treats and lots of head pats available to all. * Beautiful apartments. They may be smaller (at least if you're used to a house), but the spaces are so well designed you'll never miss the extra square footage. And the huge floor-to-ceiling windows with loads of natural light help a lot, too! * Great community spaces, including the biggest, nicest gym I've seen (after touring dozens of downtown apartment buildings). The community room is spacious, the patio has a fantastic view of the river, and the (underused) tea garden is tranquil and beautiful. * You can't get more convenient of a location. One block off 35 and just a few blocks from downtown. Within walking distance of the west bank light rail station and campus. Lots of bus stops. Nice Ride, Zip Car, plus all the scooters. A half a dozen restaurants. And with the new Trader Joe's just down Washington (an easy 12 minute walk), I can't think of anything that would make it a better place to live. * Active but quiet neighborhood. You'd think this would be a noisy location, not at all conducive to sleep, but it's actually pretty quiet around here. There is so much to love here at 7West. From the moment you walk in the building and are greeted by staff that takes the time to learn and remember who you are, you will feel right at home here. (Seriously, the staff is the absolute best!)

Hello Calliope! Thank you so much for the 5-star review. We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your feedback and are glad to hear you are happy calling 7west your home! We have really enjoyed getting to know you over the last few years. Kind Regards, Danielle
No assigned parking for residents. On weekends, game nights, and concerts you can't find a space to park because they sell parking to public. Party room is not free. They will charge $150 rent plus $150 security deposit then they keep your security deposit even if you clean up after the party. So it costs you $300 to rent the party room for one day or night. Bedrooms don't have windows.
I was a previous resident when the building first opened and I have just come back to the building since then the budding has been purchased by a different management company (weidner). *First thing is I am hit with is a move in fee of $100 which was not present the first time around when i signed a years lease. Considering I came with my own movers there should not have been such a charge. Paper work and sales and administrative expenses should not have to be allocated to each resident upon move in, I don't know what kind of accounting goes on behind the scenes. *Then I was presented with another charge of $80 some dollars for a prorated amount for a 31st move in except they will charge you a full days rent EVEN IF YOU GET YOUR KEYS AT 6PM (End of business day). Then I went on to ask for a extra 18 hours at move out since I am forced to pay for an full day of "prorated" rent, and was denied. *If your unit faces the Courtyard Marriott and the restaurants you will have a hard time getting good rest on weekends with all the noise from patrons and festivities downstairs
I've lived in the building for nearly 8 months now and I have to say I have been very impressed. I've *never* seen such a professional and pleasant office staff. They are all incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and genuinely nice people. The gym is fantastic - seriously. I canceled my Lifetime membership. The location is perfect. A block and a half from the light rail; right next to two great patios; near downtown, campus, and the river. Immediate access to 35 and close access to 94. The units are on the smaller side, but you're totally paying for the amazing location. And can we talk about the windows. Wow. Beautiful floor to ceiling windows. That's easily my favorite part of the units themselves. There are a few minor things that they'll have to work out as they remodel (like the flooring panels in the units, and the plastic shelving), but overall what you see when you tour is exactly what you get. Parking is like any indoor building. It takes a bit of getting used to, but it's totally doable. I'm a full-time young professional. I was a bit nervous about the building having a lot of crazy students, but that hasn't been my experience at all. It seems to be a mix of young professionals, grad students, and very few undergrad students. The students that do live there seem to be very serious, constantly studying in the common spaces and generally very quiet. I feel the need to reiterate how amazing the staff has been. Staff can absolutely make or break living in a building. An apartment building is your home; having awful or even just mediocre people in a building can be very stressful. I am so happy that I never have to worry about that at 7 West. Even when they went through ownership change, it's been fantastic. Everyone from the regional manager (Tony) to the office staff (Steve and Samantha especially) to the maintenance staff have been beyond amazing.
Its really nice. Very cozy comfortable. The brick wall stands out the most in this apartment.
Fantastic apartment! The location is great, with the university and lots of places to eat nearby. The entire building, including common areas, is beautiful! The staff/management is very friendly and helpful. Last the units are very modern, well designed, and have great appliances (even heated tile bathroom floors). Although it may be expensive if you're living by yourself, it should still be a must-see on your apartment search.
I can't say enough about the staff at 7West, they definitely take pride in providing exceptional customer service, they know every resident's name and even our pup's name! They take time out of their weekends to throw parties for the residents every so often which has been great. The property is very nice with a somewhat contemporary feel, the building is only about 2 years old so everything is in great condition, and the staff does a great job of maintaining it. The location is also great in an up-and-coming area close to the UM campus as well as walking distance to many great bars, restaurants, and theaters. I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone moving to Minneapolis.
7West is a great facility with tons of amenities and everything is brand new and super clean. The management is great, and they are staffed in the building during normal business hours to field any questions, etc. The location is great; close to tons of public transportation and restaurants. The in building amenities are great as well, including a brand new workout facility, tons of lounge area, zen gardens, and fully furnished decks for lounging. 5/5 Great place to live!
