Property Ratings at 6 Hammatt St
I've lived in this apartment complex for over 15 years. In the early days, it was pretty much a dump. The building manager was an alcoholic and maintenance rarely if ever got done. I personally took care of any problems that arose on my own. Nearly every night, you would hear loud arguments in the hallways, doors slamming and even the cops showing up. This was nearly every night, no joke! However, over the last couple of years, we have a new manager. She's really friendly, takes care of any problems immediately and has put a lot of effort in improving the building, it's apartments and the 'quality' of residents. I have not heard an argument or fight in this building since she took over. When an apartment becomes available, she has been replacing the fixtures, paint, wallpaper, flooring, etc....So, when new people move in, it's like a brand new apartment. The building is right in the center of all the places you need to go in town. It's a 1 minute walk to the post office and 2 convenience stores, a 5 minute walk to the train station, plenty of restaurants nearby, a pharmacy is a 15 minute walk away and so on. So, if you don't want to drive, you can pretty much walk anywhere you need to in 30 minutes or less. The furthest place is the grocery store, if you walk, it's probably half an hour. Historical High Street Cemetery is a 20 minute walk with quite a few historical houses in the general area that date back to the 1600's. Historical Choate Bridge, the oldest stone bridge in America, is a 5 minute walk away, which also has a really great pub with a family style restaurant attached. If you like the beach, it's just a quick drive up the road! Bicyclists, you'll love the various nearby bike trails and beautiful places you can explore. I've biked to Historical Crane's Castle on the beach multiple times, and it's a great ride. Film enthusiasts will be thrilled to know quite a few films have been done here. Some of note are "Mermaids", "The Crucible", "The Equalizer", "The Witches of Eastwick", "Flowers in the Attic" just to name a very few. So, in conclusion, great location, great management, a building that's going through improvements all the time, locked entry for security and safety and lastly, reasonable price. Please take notice, this is a no cat/dog and no smoking building.
