Property Ratings at 420-428 Amsterdam Ave
The apartment is a little bit of a trade off. The most obvious pro that would make this space worth taking is its the location on the Upper Westside. Situated between 80th and 81st Street on Amsterdam Avenue, you are within a couple of blocks of both the A and C train as well as the 1. There are also a ton of high quality restaurants right on the block and in the surrounding area, and you can take a stroll over to Central Park or the Museum of Natural History in less than ten minutes. The minuses - if you are going to take the apartment as it is now (with a closet divider splitting the master bedroom into two rooms) it is a relatively small space. There are three railroad style bedrooms. but the two rooms that are not connected to the living room have access to the kitchen, living room, and bathroom through a doorway that leads to the hall. So you don't have to walk through the room connected to the living room, but you would have to walk through the hallway to get to the bathroom or kitchen at night. The larger of the two spaces in the master bedroom has two large windows with a beautiful view overlooking Amsterdam Ave. The other two rooms both have windows as well, and are small but not unreasonably so. It is a fourth floor walk up and the stairway area is not the best kept, with dim lighting and a generally dirty appearance. However, the inside of the apartment space is aesthetically average, so it is worth the quick walk up. Overall, you are taking this space for its location which really can't be beat.
