About This Home

12 Month Lease, $3,200 deposit, Available Jul 1

We are an owner-occupied couple with a 2-family in Somerville, not far from Magoun Square. We live upstairs and rent the 1st floor apartment. We have a lovely, plant-filled front yard and a backyard with flowering trees and shrubs, where you'll hear birds chirping, see lots of wild bunnies, and occasionally spot the resident groundhog. The house is on a quiet one-way street with plenty of on-street parking. Two indoor cats are allowed, but sorry, no dogs. Move-in date is July 1, 2026, and we'll be starting apartment showings in April; serious inquiries only. Please read the apartment descriptions for more clarification... - The apartment is 1069 sq feet - There is a large eat-in kitchen, a bathroom with a shower only, a large living room, a middle room (some people use this as the bedroom, others as an office), and a small back room, which can be used as a bedroom or office - The apartment is kept in great shape, and as owners who live on the premises, we fix things as soon as they break - There is a shared front porch, where you can sit and drink your coffee, and a lovely backyard that tenants are welcome to use for sitting and eating (no big parties allowed) - There is a nice, quiet AC that comes with the apartment and cools the entire unit - Shared washer and dryer in the basement - We're just a few blocks to the bike path, and the Lowell Street Green Line train, and it's about a 15-20 minute walk to Davis Square along the bike path - There is plenty of on-street parking with the Somerville permit - The apartment is most suitable for a single professional or a couple - No loud party-people; we prefer quiet, respectful tenants to share our home with us - No smoking on premises - The rent is $3,200, and we require a first month's rent and a deposit. Water is included, but heat and electricity are not - We also require a background/credit check

Neighborhood

The 120-foot hill that occupies the Winter Hill neighborhood played a key role in the American Revolution – but all signs of its significance during that time have vanished. The name dates back to the early 1600s, and early maps of the area show Winter Hill Fort as a major military installation. But while very little remains to pay tribute to Winter Hill’s history, the residents haven’t forgotten. In fact, they re-enact Paul Revere’s ride through Winter Hill as part of Boston’s Patriots Day events.

Winter Hill is considered a hip, trendy Somerville neighborhood with great bus service and a family-friendly vibe. The location is excellent, with easy access to nearby Harvard University, Tufts University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Somerville is south of Medford, northeast of Cambridge, and northwest of Boston.

Most of the shops and restaurants in Winter Hill are located along Broadway.
