About This Property

Find all the charm of Salem in the newly rennovated Reverend Thomas Barnard House in the coveted McIntire Historic District. Built in 1740, this Georgian Colonial boasts many original features including wall to wall pine floors and crown moldings while providing all the comforts of modern appliances, central heat and air, and on demand hot water. The building in it's entirety is monitored by 24/7 video security, fully sprinklered for fire safety, and a key fob front door system with intercom in each unit. All units receive one off-street parking space with rent. Due to the historic nature of the house, absolutely no pets allowed. This unit is one out of two units on the second floor. The layout provides common hallway entrances into the unit hallway or unit living room. Water/sewer, trash removal, grounds maintenance, snow removal, and common area utilities are included in rent. Tenant pays for gas and electric. The application process is free and all intended lessees must apply. The application will include background check, credit check, rental references, personal references, and income verification. Lack of or poor credit does not disqualify an applicant. A non-refundable $2600.00 deposit is due upon application approval to hold the unit. At execution of the lease, first month's rent is due and the deposit will be credited toward last month's rent. The lease is month to month, no exceptions. Personal Gaurantors are accepted. For health and safety, there is a maximum of two occupants per unit.

Neighborhood

Encompassed by yacht clubs and marinas, South Salem is the dream community for anyone who loves boating.

The neighborhood (and Salem) has had quite the past – tourists come to South Salem to experience the maritime and witch trial historic sites. The harbor is where residents and visitors can explore the docked Colonial-era vessels. Other family-friendly attractions here include the home that was featured in the movie Hocus Pocus, Hamilton Hall, and the living history museum at Forest River Park.

This museum – Salem Pioneer Village – affords locals and visitors the opportunity to experience life back in the 17th century. Many festivals are also held at the site, including the Salem Shakespeare Festival. After a tour of the colony, visitors enjoy a relaxing break at the park’s riverfront beaches.

Residents of South Salem are comforted by the proximity to Salem State University, and adore the community’s beautiful New England-style residences and trendy eateries.
