Lexington Square
Steps away from the Virginia Square-GMU metro station, the four towers of the Lexington Square condo complex represent a commuter’s dream – residences in a buzzing urban neighborhood just a handful of stops from downtown Washington DC. “Relative to popular neighborhoods in the District of Columbia, Arlington— and this part of Arlington in particular— is still slightly more affordable,” says Jason Surbey, an Arlington resident and realtor with McEnearny Associates. Price ranges, along with the development of the Ballston Quarter shopping and entertainment district, have made this area especially attractive. “There have been all kinds of surveys in the last couple of years that have come out that have said that Arlington is the second happiest place in the country, it’s the most physically fit in the country, it’s one of the most educated,” says Surbey, “It’s got livability.” That livability can be found in spaces like Lexington Square. The complex itself has a unique structure, with towers, which opened in 2000 and 2002, divided into two addresses: the 11-story 3835 buildings, and the 10-story 3830 buildings. The central common courtyard is connected to 3830, and amenities are split between the two. The complex’s 367 units include one, two and three-bedroom floorplans which owners have been able to customize. “There are some owners who have done entire gut-renovations of their condos, and they are stunning,” Surbey says. While many units have been renovated, most have wood cabinetry, marble countertops and open kitchens with stainless steel appliances. Some offer tiled kitchens or carpeted bedrooms, though hardwood flooring is more common. Prices for one-bedrooms can range from $397,000 to $480,000, while larger two and three-bedroom units go for between $525,000 and $806,000. Private outdoor patios and balconies are also a big plus. “Some upper-level units have views to the southeast toward old town Alexandria, the Potomac River and beyond, and some have views toward the east and can see the Washington Monument,” says Surbey. Lexington Square’s amenities offer residents use of the on-site gym in building 3830, an outdoor swimming pool and in-ground jacuzzi, and a landscaped courtyard with gas grills. Additionally, a party room in building 3835 is available for private gatherings. Residents have peace of mind with an on-site building manager and dedicated garage parking. Building 3835’s garage includes an EV charging station, and 3830’s has a car wash station. Both buildings include bicycle storage areas and additional storage lockers. “This is a great location if people want an urban, walkable community with access to amenities like restaurants, coffee shops and gyms,” Surbey says. The Ballston neighborhood has become especially desirable for its lively bars and restaurants and access to parks. Lexington Square residents can utilize the pleasant plaza of nearby Oakland Park or make the less than 10-minute walk to the larger Quincy Park, which offers a playground and tennis and volleyball courts. Arlington’s Museum of Contemporary Art is four blocks east on Wilson Boulevard and the Ballston Quarter shopping and dining area is three blocks west. Groceries can be found at Harris Teeter, a half-mile away, and Trader Joe’s, less than a mile east. Lexington Square’s location also puts it near DC-area landmarks, including Arlington National Cemetery, about three miles away. At the Virginia Square-GMU metro station, the Metrorail Orange and Silver lines provide a path for those commuting to Washington DC. Drivers can access nearby Interstate 66 or Arlington Boulevard for a route to DC, about five miles away. Building visitors can utilize the street parking along North Pollard and 9th Streets. Washington Reagan Airport is just over five miles away.

DC-area commuters love Arlington’s Ballston/Virginia Square community for its close proximity to Washington and its relaxed neighborhood atmosphere. The rental market ranges from charming single-family homes on tree-lined suburban streets to high-rise apartments and condos in the thick of Arlington’s urban action, attracting a healthy mix of residents to the area.
While the neighborhood is mostly residential, the area between Fairfax Drive and Wilson Boulevard is packed with office buildings, shops, and restaurants; this is also where you’ll find the popular Wellburn Square Freshfarm Market, a local favorite for fresh produce, as well as the stylish Ballston Common Mall.
Most of the streets in the area are fairly quiet, giving folks the ability to get around on foot or by bicycle. The community provides easy access to Interstate 66, which will get you into DC within minutes; multiple Metro stops in the neighborhood also help make commuting a breeze.
