Single-Family House for Rent
About 324 Little Falls St Falls Church, VA 22046
Our wonderful REAL TWO-BEDROOM/PRIVATE-ENSUITE-BATH GARDEN SUITE HAS COME AVAILABLE Our most-recent guests – scholars here on special paid internships - have left us to return to their respective graduate schools. If you're interested, let us hear, including the information necessary for us as explained at the end of this item.... Our huge two-bedroom wonderfully-furnished Garden Suite, is the only lodging on that entire floor in our huge historic home. So it's super-private. Even has its own private entrance into the home (see the photos). In other parts of the home, there are other highly-educated guests, but all the lodgings are separate and "private." The Garden Suite may be the "most private of all," in that it has its own entire “private floor.” No other lodging/residing area on that entire floor • AGAIN, IT’S A HUGE TWO-BEDROOM GARDEN SUITE – Available NOW. Unlike too many listings on CL that state that the offering is for "two bedrooms," but the realities of so many - maybe even most - are that each of those listings is offering an only-one-bedroom availability within a two-bedroom apartment. Not this one. It's a full 800+ sq-ft two-bedroom suite with historic King-Sized bed in the huge bedroom, a near-queen bed in the still-large-but-smaller "barn-board" room, love seat, two desks, two closets, and large ensuite bathroom that has its own multi-person deluxe Jacuzzi. Direct access onto our South Lawn and Patio. A super-special characteristic (there are many) of this home is our kitchen complex, which is central to the home, and the largest, best-quipped kitchen you will ever have seen. Even has its own real-flame cherry-mantlepiece fireplace in it, and about seven different eating/dining areas in or adjacent to the full kitchen area. An unusual "special addition" to that kitchen/dining area - yes, we designed it this way - is our very-large south-facing (always in sunshine, so usable almost year-round) deck, with several dining tables and a wonderful many-featured grill. Fee: $1,950/month for four months and more, with that fee for up to two guests. We strongly prefer guests who stay with us four months and more. For shorter stays, IF we can work them with you, we shall have to recalculate the monthly fee level. Once we jointly agree on a duration of the stay, we change that part of the agreement only via mutual approval. In addition, our hosting more than two adult guests in our Garden Suite will have us do - if just for increases in utilities, etc, small increase in the monthly fee. We're virtually immediate to EVERYTHING! We're within half a block of literally America's favorite Farmers' Market, within about four blocks of about a dozen wonderful restaurants (all while we're on a quiet wooded street), 0.7 mile (takes 12 minutes to walk) from East Falls Metro (with its straight shot downtown and more), short walk to Harris-Teeter and an Aldi’s, easy trips to TWO Trader Joe's, and a lot more. What we do with this huge historic home is host folks we call "Professionals in Transition," who are mostly those coming here on some sort of training or transfer, and who want a wonderful fully-furnished place to stay. But others who join us are on special projects, or refurbishing their on local homes, and a lot more. We do accept guests with children, for which our Suite can be perfect. If you have children who will be with you, tell us about them – age(s), gender(s), schooling needs, etc. And, if you stay with us, your being here opens Falls Church City’s marvelous school system to children. We cannot accept "pets of guests." We do have here – two Great Danes – an older female and a three-year-old “puppy.” They stay far away from the Garden Suite, up in our Master Suite and in our fenced large South Yard. NO smoking. Even "off campus, away from the house." Plenty of Free Parking. Home installed fully Top-Capacity FiOS WiFi, included. All other utilities included. In-home Maytag Centennial Washer and Dryer (same floor as the Garden Suite). Lodging comes with an iron and ironing board, all towels, sheets, and blankets provided. Even a far-infrared Sauna, which is far more healthful for people than even the traditional historic-style fuel-burning saunas. When you write to us, we can provide a lot more detailed information on the Home, the Suite, and even on us. As we as nation and region are still fighting the aggressive attacks by Covid-19, all of us here are already vaccinated. We must insist that any guest wishing to be considered to join with us be already have his/her/their vaccinations done and already “effective.” The other folks in the home are very well educated, internationalized (host and hostess, both multi-lingual, have lived/worked all over the world), and active.... So, let us hear more about you, your needs, your interests, activities, assignment/work, who might be with you, and your timing(s). I have just checked "wheelchair accessible," as that entire level, via the lowest main door on the home, is entirely on that level. But the Kitchen is one level upstairs from the Garden Suite, so one needs to use the wide staircase to go between the Garden Suite and the home's kitchen
If you write us abut this possibility, please note that it's about our "Library Suite." Too many potential guests are contacting us without paying attention to this point: If you are interested, your first contact to us needs include information about yourself or yourselves. Too many people, without telling us anything about themselves, their needs (including timing) and interestes, or any questions that we have not answered in this long description, but instead ask us directly and solely for availabilty, personal tour, and even an application. For us to start to consider anyone to join us as guests in this home, we need to know at least some more about any potential guest(s). If you're interested, let us hear, including both any questions you have but also include – absolutely essential - information on yourself/selves, including how many you are, your desired starting timing, possible length of stay, whether you'll commute to work or work from home, your interests, activities, etc. PLEASE DO NOT JUST ASK FOR A TOUR OR TO UNDERSTAND AVAILABILITY WITHOUT PROVIDING INFORMATION ON YOURSELF (...SELVES?), AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. We are right in the Central (we believe best) part of Falls Church City. Convenient to everything. Available now - we may need one day for the finalization of our full preparations for welcoming guest(s) - is our marvelous Library Suite. Why is it called the Library Suite? What is its history? In our original design of the addition that is now the integral part of this home, what we now call the Library Suite was originally intended to be the "In-Law Suite." What special treatment for “In-Laws”? It’s a large suite, complete with its own large bath, on the same floor as the kitchen (but away from all the other bedrooms of the house), and even with direct access to our huge South Deck. About a decade ago, when we redid the kitchen, we had the same wonderful folks put into that Suite in a series of shelves of the wonderful cherry wood: it looks like, and could serve also as a library. Well, let's look at what all's here: About the house/us: • Suite is virtually “its own wing” of an elegant historic-but-totally-modern-interior home. • Suite has its own large lighted closet – probably larger than three standard closets, complete with a chest of drawers; • Bedroom is 19 x 12.5, with large (actually, two-room) private bath in addition. • Suite is equipped with a queen-sized antique canopy bed – hand-carved in India for a special wedding there. Yes, really. One of our closest friends, who has stayed there many times on his earlier frequent visits here, says that he sleeps better there than in any other place in the world! • Suite has a new workstation/computer desk table and super-comfortable new computer chair. • Heating and cooling to the entire suite are controlled by the resident - thermostatically right therein. • Immediate access to our south-facing, always-sunlit large deck. It’s amazing. • Again, it's on the same floor as the huge kitchen and gigantic South Deck, so it's really convenient. As it's the only bedroom on that entire floor, it has real privacy. • Whole home includes high-speed Wireless Internet Access. • Huge number of incusions: All Utilities, Sheets (we provide wonderful "flannel" sheets), Towels, and Toilet Paper, Paper Towels, a steam iron and ironing board precisely for the Suite. Home has what is almost certainly the largest, best-equipped kitchen you've ever seen. Yes, I designed it to be precisly what it is, even with its own real-flame fireplace in the kitchen. Gather around that fireplace for tea, hot chocolate, or coffee. Kitchen is officially "shared" with others in the home, but its size and total facilities mean that there occur no situations of too-crowed bump-into if two or more guests are preparing meals there at the same time. And - no requirements or guarantees on this - but there do occur jointly-done meals. I make wonderful Swiss Cheese Fondues (I've lived and worked in Switzerland and four other countries), and love to do Paella, all to share. Ideal for someone - also easily takes a couple, and in fact has had three people in it (that situation works for a short while) - who will be here in this wonderful Washington area on TDY or other "in-transit," temporary, or even “just-arriving” status, including if you’re “moving here” for the longer term, but want to have a wonderful place to stay while perhaps researching/looking for the longer-term housing, all while avoiding horrors of the motels and hotels - too expensive, too cold, and too, well, motel-like. But we've found, rather often and happily, that those guests who join us are doing so for not just medium-length trainings or other programs, but actually wind up with us for quite-lengthy periods. Ask us about Brian.... Suite is in marvelous shape/order. Please note that our normal "minimal guest-stay period" is of four months. We strongly prefer that duration or considerably longer. Under special circumstances – whether for you or us or both – we might be able to consider stays shorter than four months, but probably never less than one month, but we shall have to work those details out directly. On Fees: For stays of one individual for four months and more in our Library Suite: $1,750/month. To register a reservation, we receive in advance a reservation/security deposit of $1,750 (which is never used as lodging fee, but returned to the guest(s) on departure). If there are two guests in the same room, we must ask an additional $50/month, to help us cover the increased utilities. All guests in the home must give us a one-month notice before departure. Please understand that those fee levels are "generic," in that your own timing and circumstances on both sides could affect the fee structure on which we eventually agree. If you’re here in the area on USG “TDY orders,” we may be able both to provide some extra benefits and also fit the costing to the USG’s sliding scales. The ONLY way we'll reserve is with your commitment, which must be accompanied by a one-month security deposit. If you need to cancel, and give us over a month's notice, then no fee. If it's less time than one month's cancellation notice, then our minimum fee is going to have to be that month, at the short-term rate.
