About This Home
The Clara is a 3-story townhouse at the corner of M & 3rd Streets in Mount Vernon Square and Shaw neighborhoods. We named it in honor of our first tenant, Clara who charmed the whole neighborhood. The 3rd fl apt has a total of 820 sq ft which includes a 220 sq ft private deck - that can easily fit table/chairs, outdoor sofa, and an accumulating gardening hobby. This top fl apt has windows in each room making it sunny and airy with direct southern views of the US Capitol Building. For shade, the windows have their original pocket shutters that fold in and out of the frame. Ceilings are 9.5' tall, elegant recessed lighting w/dimmers, with its original heart of pine wood floor. The kitchen offers lots of lighting, wooden cabinets with glass facing, matching black appliances: microwave, gas oven and range, and dishwasher, and wall shelving like for cookbooks. This semi-open kitchen faces the living room with a 30" wide granite counter. The bathroom features a bathtub/shower with sliding glass doors and a 5' tall window that brings in lots of light and fresh air. Great water pressure. The bedroom comfortably fits a queen sized bed, with a roomy floor to ceiling closet with 9' tall glass doors, recessed lighting, wide blade white ceiling fan, and secured double-pane windows that keeps out any street noise. Apt has washer/dryer, central AC and heating, cable with outlets in both the living room and bedroom, and intercom. THIS IS A NON-SMOKING and NON-VAPING BUILDING. Washington, DC's historic Waterfront neighborhood is both dynamic and diverse. Historic row houses sit in the shadow of mid-century government buildings, luxury condos, and high-rise office buildings. The largest houseboat community on the Eastern seaboard adds a touch of the quirky to this already unique area. Waterfront is off the typical tourist's path, providing a community feel not often found in the nation's capital.
Waterfront extends along the Anacostia River and dates back to the 1700s, when it was part of Piere L'Enfant's original city plans. Some of Waterfront's oldest buildings include Wheat Row, a series of row houses built around 1794. For fantastic views of the city, head to Hains Point, a peninsula located between the Washington Chanel and the Potomac River.
