About This Home
A fully-furnished, 2+ bedroom, 1 bath house is available for two months in July and August. Nestled at the foot of Mt. Beacon, in the charming city of Beacon, you’ll be just a 5-minute drive or a 20-minute walk away from the shops and restaurants downtown. From the porch, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Newburgh. And guess what? You’ll have easy access to miles of hiking trails just up the street. The house has an open floor plan on the first floor. The spacious kitchen is fully equipped with all the essentials you need to cook up delicious meals. There’s a new induction stove that cooks efficiently and cleanly, and a dishwasher. The original cedar wood floors give the house a warm and inviting feel. Upstairs, you’ll find the primary bedroom with a California King Select Comfort bed (adjustable mattress firmness on each side). There’s also an adjacent bedroom that could be used as an office or a baby’s room. Right now, there’s a desk and printer in this room, but it can be easily reconfigured to suit your needs. Downstairs, there’s a second full bedroom with a twin bed. The bathroom is on the first floor and has a bathtub/shower, a sink, and a toilet with a bidet seat. There’s a wall AC unit that keeps the downstairs cool, and a window AC unit upstairs. We have super-fast Verizon Fios internet with wifi coverage throughout the house. Oh, and there are some other cool amenities too! There’s a garage, a private, fenced backyard with a gas grill and outdoor eating area, flower/vegetable/herb gardens, a tool/garden shed, and a full-sized washer and dryer in the basement. The house has a few steps to get to the entrance, and it’s on two floors. We’re on a mountain, so there’s a lot of walking up and down hills. A car is recommended, but you can also get around by bike, foot, or car service. Beacon is a great place to live. It can get a bit touristy on weekends, but during the week it has a small-town feel and a friendly community that’s easy to plug into. You can hike the trails on Mt. Beacon, stroll down Main Street, catch a movie at the Beacon Theatre, and enjoy sunsets over the Hudson River. All of that is within walking distance of your house for the summer. Rent includes utilities and lawn care. Interested renters should arrange to meet with us and see the house in person. We are available most weekends and have flexible schedules during the week. We may ask for references. A cleaning deposit of $250 is required. No smoking is allowed. Rent is monthly for July and August, exact start and end dates are flexible. We strongly prefer someone to rent both months.

Beacon is a small city on the east bank of the Hudson River, positioned about fifteen miles south of Poughkeepsie and sixty miles north of New York City. Mostly filled by charming suburban neighborhoods, the city’s thriving Main Street is packed with a vibrant assortment of cafes, specialty shops, art galleries, watering holes, and historic landmarks. Grab your morning caffeine fix at Bank Square Coffeehouse, sample the local beers at Hudson Valley brewery, or catch a live band at Max’s On Main.
The area includes several convenient options for folks who like to spend a lot of time outside, from the Southern Dutchess Country Club to the scenic Long Dock Park on the river to the sprawling Hudson Highlands nature preserve just south of town. Rail service by the MTA Hudson line makes it easy to get down into the city or farther Upstate, and direct access to Interstate 84 puts the entire region at your fingertips.
