The Strand Historic District anchors the neighborhood, which has National Historic Landmark status and stands out for its many preserved 19th-century buildings. Moody Mansion and the Galveston Railroad Museum are just a few of the many museums located in downtown. Of course, residents also love being close to the beach, which is only about a 15-minute drive away.
