About This Home
The Grand Madison at 225 Fifth Avenue, formerly known as the Brunswick Hotel, is a New York City landmark. Originally built and designed in 1906 in the Renaissance-revival style by Francis H. Kimball and Harry E. Donnell, the building has a rich history as a hotel, warehouse, and showroom. At one time also referred to as the New York Gift Building, 225 Fifth Avenue garnered fame during its time as the citys main showroom for ceramic and glass giftware. The building was converted into apartments in 2004 by Elad Properties, who renamed the Grand Madison. The renovation stayed true to the original style of the building, retaining its multicolored brick faade and limestone ornamentation, while updating the interior to include more modern features. Each kitchen has stainless steel appliances and the apartments have 10-foot-high ceilings.Featuring 189 units on 13 stories, this building comes equipped with a full-time doorman and amenities such as a gym, storage units, and in-building laundry services.Located between 26th and 27th Streets, 225 Fifth Avenue is within walking distance of public transportation as well as nearby restaurants and shopping areas. Central to the Gramercy, Chelsea, and Flatiron Districts of Manhattan, the Grand Madison is a historic fixture of the NoMad neighborhood.
