Just north of Astoria, Ditmars Steinway is a popular neighborhood for those searching for affordable apartments in New York.
The Steinway and Sons piano factory calls this community home. Visitors are encouraged to tour its showroom as well as the Steinway Mansion, which was once owned by one of the founder’s sons. In addition to piano making, Ditmars Steinway has a bustling business district that’s dotted with bakeries, small businesses, and Greek-inspired restaurants.
When it comes to commutes, locals are comforted by the direct access to N & W train services. Astoria Park – the largest green space in Astoria – is a scenic spot with views of the East River, Hell Gate Bridge, and Randalls Island. LaGuardia Airport is only a 10-minute drive east on Interstate 278.

About the Listing Agent
Thomas Caramanno
Compass Greater NY LLC
Thomas was born and raised in Astoria before there were coffee shops and sushi restaurants on every street corner. He spent his youth engaging in the same activities as any other adolescent growing up in the city: hanging out at "the strip" in Astoria Park and hopping trains to the West Village, where he futilely tried to get a tattoo or piercing on St. Mark's Place (a practice he would not recommend to today's teenagers). Thomas earned his B.A. in Communications and Psychology from New York University, and an M.S. in Psychology from the CUNY Graduate Center. He then spent three years working as a psychologist within the Department of Education. However, his passion for the written word beckoned him to enroll in Columbia University's Journalism School, where he focused on print journalism. He freelanced for publications such as The Huffington Post and Buzzfeed before transitioning to real estate ten years ago.
