The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at 21 Fitzsimons
This has been a pleasant place to live. After speaking with the property managers, they were able to connect with me existing tenants, whom I ended up rooming with. Rooms are spacious and the kitchen I had was likewise roomy. The leasing office and various community spaces were definitely a plus, always felt comfortable bringing guests in to socialize and linger. Proximity to the campus and the restaurants downstairs were also a benefit. Some areas do demonstrate wear and tear (e.g., lining of cabinets, dishwasher efficiency) but there seem to be constant renovations (I.e., repainting the hallways, replacing the threshold for entrances). There are also more fees than I’m used to but nothing surprising as long as you read the lease ahead of time. Communication remains a strength, as the office provided timely notices via email regarding construction, policies, etc. This is by no means a perfect place, and this is one of the best places I’ve lived.

Had a hole in my ceiling for 2 years which was never fixed. They just glued a board over the hole. The board fell down multiple times. They only screwed two screws in a square board. What a joke. I paid for a parking spot in the garage. Then they changed the rules and now have reserved spots. So even if you pay for parking it is completely random if you are able to find parking or not. Unless you pay a ton extra to reserve a spot. Half of the spots are not reserved. So if it snowing and there is no parking, you have to park outside even if there is open unreserved spots. You will get fined and towed otherwise. You're rent is a lie and will be raised an incredible amount each year. Terrible maintenance and the leasing office won't even answer the phone half the time. Elevators are broken a majority of the time.

We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with maintenance repairs in your unit. We understand how important it is to have repairs completed promptly and properly, and we regret that this was not your experience. Our team works diligently to address all maintenance concerns as efficiently as possible. Please reach out to us at ICanHelp@AirCommunities.com if you have any questions. - Michael
Management, once I let them know I will not renew the least months down the line, made it clear they just want to make money from me. If you get caught with a bad roommate, good luck because management will not help you. They also press crazy moveout charges for things you shouldn't be responsible for (like paint just because you happened to move out a couple years after they last painted).

When you first move in the managers at the leasing office will do whatever it takes to get your business but the moment you decide to move out they are very unpleasant to work with. When we decided to move out we notified the managers and sent an email to give them written notice. In the lease it states that there will be a $150 charge if the apartment is not professionally cleaned. One Saturday my sisters cleaning company helped clean out the entire apartment and the apartment was left completely spotless. When we spoke to the leasing office the following week they said that we were still going to get charged the $150 regardless of the amount of time and energy spent on cleaning the apartment. I notified the managers that the apartment was professionally cleaned which then Beth proceeded to ask: “did you clean on top of the cabinets and inside the cabinets” answer..yes; “did you move the refrigerator and stove and cleaned behind them” answer..yes. She then proceeded to say in a very condescending tone “well you’ll probably still get charged anyways”. The apartment was left completely spotless and pictures were taken to prove it. Beware if you are considering living here, it’ll be fine when you move in, but the moment you decide to move out it is just one headache after another.

Been here two years. Elevators and main entrances are shut down due to construction which will probably take another year. Something's been under construction for the entire two years. Since I have to take a walkway from the stairwell now, I was extremely uncomfortable in the dark hopping an Uber to the airport at 5am. Used to be overwhelmed with homeless since there's a shelter a couple blocks away, but having to walk behind the restaurant, past the dumpsters and around construction equipment - in the dark - is extremely unsettling. No signage, no lights, very little accommodation to ease the construction pain. Neighbor's footsteps above and shared walls are extremely loud. Now we know to always ask about concrete floors vs. steel beams and wood and will never live in an apartment again that is not concrete in between.
I’m 67, disabled and retired from the Navy. One of the reasons I chose 21Fitz was to be close to the VA Hospital. One thing I’ve learned about apartment living is you must be very clear about your needs when choosing your next home. Apartment staff aren’t mind readers. I have a 4th-floor Unit, less than 700 sq ft, and it fits my large furniture. The floors are solid wood, so I’ve put down lots of rugs. They put in brand new washer and dryer stackables that are huge! I love them!! Since the CU/Anschutz/VA campus is a 2-minute walk, most residents are med students and doctors. If I were a parent, this is where I’d want my student to live. This is not party central. These students are serious about their education and seem to spend most of their time studying, sleeping and rushing off to class. There are comfortable study lounges in the buildings. I’ve seen students from all over the world here. I’ve also seen a number of senior citizens here and I know that peace and quiet is a priority for us. The 4th floor is the most quiet, and I suggest putting down rugs with rug pads to be a good neighbor. The students here are good, respectful neighbors, too, holding the door for my pup and me. Management and staff are the hub of this community and they’re always cheerful. They’re professional and knowledgeable. They always have a treat for our 4-legged roommates. They handle issues quickly. They care about your contentment with your home. Maintenance is quick to respond to issues. They get out there to shovel snow and chip away at ice as soon as humanly possible when there’s a snowstorm. Housekeeping keeps the community sparkling. Trash and recycling disposal is easy with rooms on every floor that are kept clean. When you move in, check your unit thoroughly from top to bottom to ensure everything meets your expectations. Take photos to help out management with your requests and for your documentation. When you move out, spend those extra hours making sure the apartment is just as clean as when you moved in. You won’t be charged a dime if you make the effort and you left no damage. There will be a lot of construction going on for the next year because they’re growing. My place is insulated from the noise, so it doesn’t bother me. I think they offer special deals for units that are affected. If you can’t tolerate the activity, tell them so that they can help you choose an apartment in a quieter area. I just wish I’d signed a longer lease!
~ It's noisy with endless construction (not only is this property building/renovating more, it is surrounded by construction on three sides--trucks are CONSTANTLY beeping) ~ When birds arrive, they will build nests under the eaves and chirp for months! It's kinda nice, for a few days, but they don't stop until they leave! So, windows closed with air-conditioner noise, or windows open with chirping noise--either way, it won't be quiet. ~ Amenities are sub-par (pool, spa closed most of the year, when open construction surrounding). ~ Maintenance will come, eventually, and so will the snow and dirt from their shoes. ~ They don't remove snow from sidewalks, nor around the doors to enter building from parking lot (particularly behind building 6). ~ Trash room is overflowing at least every other week. ~ Expensive!! Let's be honest, it's Aurora. ~ Staff smiles upfront, charges ridiculous amount for "General Cleaning ($150), painting ($48), and Carpet Cleaning ($45). Even though the place my be "clean" on move out, they require a "Professional Receipt" to show it's been cleaned (My unit wasn't painted when I moved in, nor were the carpets cleaned, however I would expect the previous tenant was charged!) ~ When you move out, you will not deal with the people on site, in the Leasing office, but with Daniel or Vanessa in the "Aimco Customer Care After Move-Out Team" however I did not experience friendliness or "care" from them. This place may have been nice a few years ago, however management has changed and the facilities are not worth to cost. Yes, it's walking distance to the hospitals and the UC schools...but there are other places close enough I would re-consider.
Paying 50 additional dollars when you lose your parking permit is pretty ridiculous when you're already nickle and dimed for everything else. For every single military member I know that moves to Denver I will tell them not to rent here. 50 dollars for a piece of plastic is insane. I will avoid Aimco properties in the future.
Living at 21 Fitzsimons is like high-class living. The community is clean, presentable, the staff are always pleasant, and all of the amenities are wonderful. Hotel living in the middle of Aurora on old Montview.
If you work or go to school at anschutz medical campus there is no possible better location. The apartments are beautiful with wood floors and really high ceilings. Maintenance responds quickly and staff is always friendly. There is a resturant, bar, liquor store, pharmacy, and bank in the community. There are also study rooms with complimentary wifi and free coffee. Dog friendly community. Be warned this community is pretty quiet and people complain quickly for noise.

What a lovely review! Thank you for your feedback.
The apartments are really gorgeous, wood floors and high ceilings. The staff are always friendly and avaliable. This is a very dog friendly complex, people really clean up after their pets well too! This apartment t has 2 resturants, a bank and a pharmacy inside the community. It is also steps away from the medical campus. Only complaint is the community really values quiet and are quick to address any noise, even in the middle of the day.

My husband and I have lived here since they opened - so we like it here and we're too lazy to move :) A big con of staying here that long is going through all the property owner and management changes. With each new owner we've had to deal with policy and price changes. I think the newest owner will be here for a while so that shouldn't be a problem for new residents. A pro and con is the addition of the Light Rail. It's great to have better access to surrounding areas, but that means more people walking through the neighborhood from surrounding lower income areas. (I hate to be snob, but we have already had problems with loitering and theft). Also means that management might charge more for rent because it has better access to public transportation. Rent rates are at a high right now in the greater Denver area due to real estate pricing, housing availability, cash offers, loans, etc. Denver is always growing and first-time home builds are struggling to keep up with demand. In this particular complex, the are also high because of the CU Medical School. Students make up the majority of the residents here and there is often a waiting list to get into the apartments. So the management doesn't need to try to get residents with deals. Despite this place being a borderline dorm, it's very quiet because the students are always studying. PROS: Open concept Granite countertops (in some units) Good size pantry Stainless Steel appliances Tile floors Vaulted ceilings Storage available to rent Office staff is helpful Great maintenance crew Door-To-Door Dry Cleaning Liquor Store Cedar Creek Pub (good food, fun staff) Coda Brewery Golfing Range 1 block away 2 Gyms Covered parking Beautiful Pool and BBQ - great upkeep Clean property Middle-Upper class residents QUIET CONS: Office Staff has a high turnover ***Replaced pool furniture with cheap looking furniture (the new furniture is not in their property pictures!) Gym equipment is constantly broken, mostly the TVs Poor cell reception for Verizon Constant construction in surrounding areas Crisis Center 1 block away - some riffraff and loitering problems lately Surrounding area not safe - lower income and homeless (Apartments are in a "bubble" everything is good inside of the campus, but outside of campus gets sketchy)
