About This Property
This cozy high-end private one-bedroom condo of $3,000 monthly rent and available as of March 1, 2024, is a one-person rental. It can be rented yearly or month-to-month with a lease for a minimum six months+ period. This beautiful historic building of 160 units has the highest elevation on Beacon Hill, located next to the State House and facing the Boston Athenaeum and partially the Boston Common. A very short walk to MGH, Back Bay, several T lines, etc. The building entryway leads to an attractive, high-ceiling spacious lobby with a full-time concierge. The entry to the building and the use of two elevators are secured by use of a fob. The elevator takes you to the seventh floor and a hallway to a quiet privately located unit with high ceilings, moldings, nice wooden floor, modern kitchen, curved glass windows and stunning views of Beacon Hill neighborhood, including the golden copula of the State House and Bowdoin Street. The unit has an open-floor layout with one bedroom (a sort of alcove without a door that fits only one bed), and one full bathroom. This attractively furnished unit with generous closet space makes you feel like it is a real home. It is considered a penthouse due to its position in the building with no other unit above this one. This is not an airbnb but a private condo-apartment so tenants need to bring their private items (kitchenware, towels, toiletries, etc.). Stores (Macys, etc), including a small shopping center with Nature Food stores, are located within 5 to 8-minute walk, and so are restaurants, cafés, and parking garages. Built in 1899, this former Bellevue Hotel was Boston's most luxurious hotel, with state-of-the-art amenities of the time, with first Boston's roof garden and first elevator. Located on the highest point of Beacon Hill, this European-flair elite hotel attracted prominent public figures, such as Louisa May Alcott, the author of "Little Women," who stayed in the Bellevue Hotel for its peace while working on her novel. Among other well-known guests were JFK and his grandfather John F. Fitzgerald, a former Boston Mayor, and many others. In 1983, the Hotel was converted into luxurious boutique Bellevue Condominiums. Even today, almost 40 years later, the Bellevue Condominiums pride on comfort, peace, exclusive location, surrounded by beauty of Boston's skylights and parks. This condo unit is available for rent as of March 1, 2024 (with a monthly rent of $3,000 for a 6 to12-month lease: everything is included: heat, electricity, internet (serving the whole building so you may need to get a supplemental service on your own), condo fees, taxes, water, sewer. In addition, you can enjoy a common roof-deck overlooking Boston, including Charles River, as well as a function room to entertain your guests. Laundry and trash room are on each floor. The building has onsite management and maintenance. A very short walk to the MGH Hospital, next door Suffolk University, Regan Gym, as well as to Government Center, Financial District and Newbury Street in Back Bay. Green and red T lines are within a very short walk, as is Downtown Crossing with a number of stores, restaurants, cafés, etc. One-month rent, and a security deposit of $3,000 are required at the signing of lease. In addition, moving-in fees of $100 and moving-out $100 fees are payable directly to the Bellevue Condo Association. While a yearly lease is preferred, a month-to-month option is considered, with a condition of letting the condo owner know two months ahead prior to the lease expiration period. Please contact the owner, a university faculty member, to discuss options and see whether this unit would be for you. When answering this ad, it might be good to say a few words about yourself: how many you are (one or two people), who you are (medical personnel, graduate student, researcher/doctoral candidate, law school candidate, etc.) and whether you have any pets (size and bread). The pet situation might be complicated because a request must be submitted to the condo association about two or three months before getting a pet (a small dog). Street parking for cars with a Massachusetts license plate is by residential sticker; daily, weekly or monthly parking is available in near garages for cars with non-MA license plates. The unit is currently rented until February 29, 2024 and showings are possible but somewhat limited. A short video can be sent at request. Please only very serious prospective tenants! Thank you.

Boston has been shaping American history since 1630, and living here means that past is never far from the present. As Massachusetts' capital and New England's cultural and financial center, the city carries real weight — intellectually, economically, and architecturally. More than 50 colleges and universities call the greater Boston area home, with institutions like Northeastern, Boston College, and Berklee College of Music woven directly into the city's neighborhoods. That academic presence fuels a steady demand for innovation, drawing employers in life sciences, technology, finance, and healthcare.
Neighborhoods here each carry a distinct personality. Beacon Hill delivers narrow gas-lit streets and Greek Revival rowhouses, while Back Bay is known for Victorian brownstones and the broad sweep of Commonwealth Avenue.
