During his enlistment, he earned numerous medals including the Joint Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal (2 bronze stars), and Kuwait Liberation Medal. After he was honorably discharged in 1994, Chris headed to college, and in 1997, earned his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education at Northern Arizona University.
