Rough Area to Live The management runs a tight ship and we appreciated that.the issue for us our concern was outdoor safety around the building. There were several times when we were walking the dog strangers approached us and act d weirdly.

Interest for a rent of 2 beds with DEN (office) Johanna did an excellent and exhaustive tour. I want to move from my own house which be refreshed and renovated from April 2025. The rent period will be from 15 March to 31 December 2026.

Excellent place to live! We’ve only been here for 1 month and a half, and I am so privileged to be here. Great place to live I have been living at 17 Barkley for almost a month so far and I LOVE it. I was just wondering how the peloton bikes are only available to use for resident during business hours. I think every resident should be assigned a personal user and password. Thank you for listening.

Issue resolved Maintenance came within 25 minutes of submitting my request and resolved the HVAC issue within the next 40 minutes. They were very fast and efficient.

The whole leasing process was great. Tanzania is the only person I really had contact with and she was great, especially considering I was moving long distance. I've had no issues with my apartment so far, maintenance has been timely and efficient. I do wish there had been more assistance with moving in, just like a cart or dolly would have been super useful.

Working with Tanzania during the process of moving into our new home was about as easy and smooth as it could be! Very responsive to all of our questions, with several visits, plus tours given to us by both Tanzania and Margaret. Highly recommend based upon how all has gone so far. The whole experience has been a much needed breath of fresh air.

We recently moved here in October 2021 and let me say our experience has been exceptional. The leasing agent Tanzania and property manager Nicole are extremely attentive and well spoken, they immediately made you feel welcomed. Tanzania went above and beyond to remember our names based on our first interaction and showed so much interest in our families wants and needs. We appreciate here attention to our maintenance request and immediately resolved the minor request. Maintenance is also extremely prompt. We put in a service request and it’s was resolved 20 minutes later. So far we are extremely satisfied resident.

My experience so far at 17 Barkley has been excellent. The staff especially Tanzania and Nicole in the front office and Agner with maintenance , is very friendly, helpful, and very attentive. Its a major step up from my previous complex’s management . The community itself is extremely well kept, clean, and smells great throughout the common areas. It’s apparent that the maintenance staff works hard at keeping the place looking clean. Overall, my experience here has made me very happy and I would highly recommend this community to anyone. Also I would like to add this is a dog friendly community which is always a plus!

I moved into the apartment in July. During my time here I haven't had any large complaints. Facilities are clean, my apartment appliances worked, and the community is very quiet. The Staff here has been kind and focused on providing the best service that they can. Maintenance also shows up on time and responds to request which was unheard of it some places I have lived. Overall I would recommend this place to someone if they were looking. My only Con is that the building is noticeably old in some places. Although the exterior has been renovated some of the plumbing and pipes you can tell are old. Personally I think its just nitpicking as the apartments are renovated and look nice for the price you pay.

I moved to 17 Barkley last year, August 2020, and have enjoyed living here thus far. After visiting almost every property in the surrounding area both in-person (pre-covid) and virtually, I decided on this property for many reasons but one in particular: amazing staff! Gloria was absolutely phenomenal and truly made me feel at home (first time living on my own), Nicole is an extremely attentive and personable property manager (she addressed a cleaning issue upon my move-in thoroughly and promptly), and Tanzania has been both patient and very helpful (she always has an answer to my many questions)! Externally, the property is well kept, neighbors are quiet, and the units are beautiful (you won't find an almost 1,000 sq. ft 1BD for the rental price anywhere else in Montgomery County). I did not give 5 stars due to the wear and tear of building doors (lots of rust and handles almost falling off at times, which poses a security issue) and stairwells, smoking in garages (I was told the property would be smoke-free by January 2021), and hallways could be upgraded for a more modern look and feel.

I moved into this apartment complex in 2016 and moved out 2019. My overall living experience was fine. In the beginning it was much better due to the previous management being more caring with who they let rent there. Towards the end of living there the interior of the property started to look dated. Don’t get me wrong, they completely renovated the clubhouse and the property grounds are great but the hallways had leaks and looked dirty. My issue came when I moved out. I kept the apartment in great condition and cleaned thoroughly when I moved out. A month later I get a letter, expecting it to be my security deposit. Nope, it was a bill for an imaginary stain and damage to the carpet that I did not do. When I called to ask to see the stain and damage they claimed they already replaced the carpet with new carpet that’s why I didn’t get my deposit and I supposedly owed them the rest. Which was a lie because I was able to see the apartment with the new tenant’s permission and they replaced the floor with laminate. So they made up an imaginary $600 charge so they could use my money to pay for upgrades!! Very Shady!!!

We absolutely love living here! The units are beautiful and well finished. The maintenance team is prompt and good at what they do. The leasing office staff are kind and remember you. Great amenities (including a reliable shuttle to the nearest metro station included in rent - super helpful for me, saves me money on metro parking/bus rides). Honestly love this place - couldn't ask for a better place to live.

Do not come live here !they are trying to screw my whole family over. Let me start with my poor Father in law, who is disabled, was living in an apartment there for year, the whole apartment was in pristine condition when he moved out, except 2 stains in the carpet that happened due to normal wear and tear, it was not negligent care , t stain was at the entrance, And by the sofa (where he spent most his day), they could of easily been cleaned out with a carpet cleaner , bu the lease contract says we are not responsible for cleaning carpets( gets done by their company) to be sure everything was up to their standards my FIL Asked Margarette to do a walk through and she said not to worry about it , so they didn’t do it . A week later a bill for $1400+ deposit ,shows up to my FIL cause they had to replace the whole carpet saying there were stains throughout , whaaat!? there were only 2 stains 1 by entrance , and 1 by the sofa, if they had granted us the walk through that we asked for,and they would of pointed out that those stains were a problem we would of cleaned it , my mother in law and FIL went to talk to the ladies and Eve was not nice , very rude and basically not helpful , now he is stuck with a 1400$ bill . Now let me get to my experience, we just moved out on the 17th, we lived at one of their 1 bed for 1yr then transferred to a 2bdr, no problem what so ever on that move, lived in the 2 br for 1 1/2 years and before anything we asked if we could paint walls and if so if we had to pain them back to white , Eve told us yes we are allowed to paint and that No, we did not have to paint them back to white as long as we used a primer, cause their company would paint the walls again regardless, and guess what we got in the mail today ? A900$ bill plus our deposit taken, 600$ for repainting walls, i’m so mind blown and upset, Charges for a few broken blinds ,literally the day we moved in , 2 of them fell out on its own .Charges for door stoppers and damage to the floor? Which i am clueless about cause we inspected the apartment and i most definitely did not see any damage whatsoever . And again if they had given us a final walk through and told us we needed to repaint the walls we would of done it . But of course the wont do that , they wait till you leave and then hit you with these charges . Do not move here! no matter how well you keep the place they will find something to bill you for .

The apartment seems nice on the surface. But the A/C system is terrible. My bill is always so high (higher than my parents HOME). The maintenance doesn't think anything is wrong with the A/C, however, when I had someone look at it, they said it wasn't running efficiently and that is why my bill is so high. The gentlemen didn't fix it (because I didn't want to get in trouble), but it is so frustrating paying over 200 dollars!!! I also hate the new parking policy. You have to have a parking pass (only one) and you can only have one visitor at a time! What if I wanted my family to stay for the holidays? Or have a baby shower? Guess I can only bring one guest!!! Can't wait until my lease is up this place is so controlling over their tenants! They should be more worried about the kids running down the hall trying to open my LOCKED door and banging on the all the doors and running away!!! Not parking when there are PLENTY of empty spaces ALWAYS!

Our parking policy has recently changed and we do have additional parking spaces located on the first floor of the garage where you will not need a parking pass to park. Been living here happily for nearly 3 years now and have enjoyed so many things about the property. Very convient, lawns/complex are regularly cleaned and manicured. The maintenance has done a GREAT JOB and are very friendly and active! Will be sad to leave when I venture to a new home. Excited to see the new club room and leasing office when complete! Will definitely miss the walking distance to the park as well! Thanks again, Dave and Chris for you're hard work and help.
First, let me say the apartments are really modern and spacious; however, the entire staff here is atrocious. The amount of money Highland Square charges you to stay here does not equate to good service. I have been living at Highland Square Apartments for a year and I had several maintenance issues to arise. The staff is not swift at all for delivering good residential service. You constantly have to call to follow up with the staff to see when work will be done in your apartment, sometimes you are lucky if you even get an answer by the staff. I had no heat twice since I have been living here and both times I had to wait weeks for the staff to respond to fix my thermostat. My smoke detector has been going off for about a week, I tried replacing the batteries but it did not help. I called the staff to tell them about it, and I was told that no one could look into my issue at this time. (Currently still waiting for resolve) I warn you don't stay here! The HIGH PRICE APARTMENTS is not WORTH THE AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE! Stay away from all GREYSTAR properties in Gaithersburg!
Don't believe the hype!! Great apartments however maintenance is awful. I called the emergency line to report that my smoke detector keeps going off. My first call was at 7:46pm, my next call was 8:52pm and my third call was 10:52pm. Spoke with the supervisor she stated that someone would call me, no one called or showed up. The problem was not resolved, I spend the entire night listening to the alarm go off and on. Live at Highland Square if you don't mind poor customer service. This place is terrible and the new carpet smells.
Living in the luxury apartments at Highland Square in Gaithersburg, MD, is a joy. They are spacious, clean, and centrally located. There are granite countertops, gas fireplaces, steel appliances, spacious balconies, a washer and dryer in each apartment, a nicely equipped gym, a beautiful pool, and covered garage parking.The common area has a pool table, fashionable yet comfortable furniture, large screen tv and a gorgeous bar. The building is secure and the maintenance staff is friendly and prompt. The leasing office staff are pleasant and helpful. I have lived here for a year and a half and I love it! Check it out!
The apartments are spacious and have lovely appliances. It is very difficult to maneuver around and into the building (especially for your guests) because of the apartment numbers, it is almost like walking around a maze. When I originally moved here, the staff was very helpful, accommodating and quick to respond to any inquiries. Since the company has been acquired by Greystar, I have had nothing but problems. They never respond to phone calls or emails and even lost my rent payment in two occasions. Your packages are "held hostage" and if you can't get to the leasing office from 9am-6pm on weekdays, you have to wait until the weekend. Instead of the typical "X" amount of pool guests allowed, you have to pay $3/guest for those who are not on the lease. It is a huge hassle for small get-togethers. The leading office is the main downfall of this complex. It's bad enough to give an otherwise 5-star complex 3 stars.
The building's features are nice and great security, but management responsiveness need improvement. Hard to get responses to emails and get contradicting messages from different staff members.
