How about living in a vintage apartment in a restored building on Cherry Street? The Virginia Ann building is on Quincy Avenue generally behind Kilkenny's and near all the action. I have an apartment that will be available this week. It's a one bedroom unit, but the bedroom is not huge. It will fit a queen size bed, but a king size bed would be too big. It has the original 1920 hardwood floors that have been carefully restored. The apartment is all bills paid, so typical utilities are included in the rent. I also include WIFI for all tenants in the building which saves you money compared to getting your own internet access. You don't need to set up deposits with the utility companies. You save approximately $150/month by not having electric and gas bills. You also save $40-50/month by not having an internet service bill. The security deposit is $600, and it's refundable at move-out as long as you take care of the apartment. A cat is allowed for an additional $100 deposit. I don't allow dogs to ensure the building stays quiet. I do require credit and background checks, and I typically don't lease to someone with a prior lease eviction. I'm careful with my leasing, and the building has nice and quiet neighbors. This is one of my favorite apartments in the building since it has open and exposed brickwork in the kitchen.
