Far North Columbia, as its name suggests, is an area north of Downtown Columbia spanning to the east of the Broad River. Most of the neighborhood is wooded, but the portion of town closest to Downtown Columbia is filled with commercial and residential development, especially along Interstate 20 and Highway 215. This area of town is also home to Columbia International University. The rest of Far North Columbia consists of residential avenues with a variety of affordable to moderately priced apartments for rent. Just outside of the town’s limits sits an abundance of shopping centers like Dutch Square Center, Bush River Village, and Ashland Park Shopping Center. Outdoor recreation abounds inside and just outside of Far North Columbia thanks to the river and several golf courses.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
