    Cultural Attractions in Oshkosh, WI

The city of Oshkosh has put a renewed focus on cultural attractions and a general atmosphere of culture in the town in the past few years. This has increased the number of entertainment and cultural venues available in town. New developments include the Leach Amphitheater along the Fox River, which is an outdoor venue that hosts weekly concerts in the summer. National musical acts and community events are also held at the amphitheater.

The town also now boasts the Grand Opera House, which is in the downtown area and operates as a full service performing arts center. The Downtown Oshkosh Gallery Walk is every first Saturday of the month, all year, with a particular increase in attendance during the warmer months. Further, plenty of local music venues have opened in downtown Oshkosh in recent years, and are continuing to expand their schedule to accommodate more acts, as demand for such entertainment increases.

Oshkosh is also the home to some popular community festivals. Among these are Sawdust Days, which is held in Menominee Park (which has its own zoo and children's playground). Weather in Oshkosh, WI

Oshkosh gets very cold and snowy in the winters. This is largely due to lake effect snow from the Great Lakes. A lot of wind comes in off of the Great Lakes, as well, which can often make it feel a lot more cold than it really is. Because most of the snow is lake effect snow, it usually doesn't stay on the ground for long, but it shows up quite often during the winter. There are also some genuine freezing cold fronts that bring lasting snow with them that come down from Canada.

Summers are warm, but not hot, and very pleasant. Spring and fall are cool, with some rain, but plenty of sun, as well. The leaves change color during the fall, which provides for a nice change of scenery for the overall area.
