Rated 1 out of 5?by This Apartment Complex is infested with Mice! I am only writing this review because I wish someone had written this for me to read. The office staff is kind and haven't had any issues with noise. This complex does however have some serious issues. A stink bug problem. Horrible insulation/heat which leads to extremely cold winters. Last a horrible rodent problem! I haven't lived here for two years yet and I've already encountered at least 6 different mice. One ate poison and laid in front of my AC unit to die. 3 in mouse traps. And 2 died in the radiator of my unit and emitted a rotten stink that's just unbearable. Believe me I am a very clean individual who doesn't spend much time at home. Please bring a cat if you plan to live on the 1st or 2nd floor of this establishment. I will be moving out in less than a month. You need to give a two months notice after a year and they wouldn't let me leave after a months notice even though I have had constant complaints about rodents. I hope this helps someone. Rated 2 out of 5?by Don't bother. I moved to Allen Gardens after my first choice of apartment fell through. It was a quick decision to move here as I was not familiar with the area moving from another state. About three months into my stay there I already knew that I would not be continuing my lease after the one year mark was up. Although the staff in the leasing office was very pleasant, the amenities did not make up for it. I was the only apartment in my cluster with windows that seemed to be from the 1950s. During the winter they leaked cold air so bad I had to use duct tape to keep the air from making my apartment freezing even with the heat turned all the way up. At one point water from the kitchen above me upstairs leaked into my closet and damaged some products, to which I was told I'd have to write a letter to the property manager in order to be compensated, rather than having a discussion with the leasing staff. Upon my departure, I followed all rules on leaving the apartment in a clean and undamaged condition, with the exception of a minor rug stain that was a result from small amounts of dye from a throw rug transferring into the rug in the apartment. Since the rug quality was extremely sub par and showed signs of wear after only a couple months of living there, and the rule was to leave the rug in a "generally clean condition" I assumed I would receive my full security deposit back. However, I had 1/3 of my security deposit withheld from me because they said the stains were "too deep" and their rug cleaner could not get it out. If the rug quality was good, then I would understand. But this clearly was a cheap rug and I should not have been penalized for it. I was extremely disappointed and had to write a letter to the property manager to argue this fine. After a month of dead air from the apartment complex, I had to call and ask what the situation was and if I was going to get any response from the property manager. I was told they generally don't respond and that I would not be getting any of the money they withheld from my security deposit. Since I am not well off, that money taken from me made me extremely disappointed and did not help in the moving process. December 9, 2013
