I have lived here for a few years. Minor issues with neighbors, but the office staff always took swift action in resolving any issues. The staff in the office and the maintenance staff all deserve 5 stars. They care about their residents and are so professional, polite, and caring!! The apartments are beautiful and spacious. They not only maintain the inside of the apartments, but the care they give with the outside is outstanding. Beautiful and safe to walk at any time of the day!! I highly recommend York Woods!!

Being relocated for my job. Upon move in the lease was very confusing so went to management and had them explain it regarding early termination of the lease. I was told something different than they are requiring. Of course, the employee is no longer there (shocking), and management is not willing to listen to discuss. When you give notice they require a large payment, and will not take the notice until that is paid, however the payment system does not work well! I have never seen a company not willing to discuss something their employee got wrong.

Very noisy, people party at the pool all day and night, impossible to sit outside and use your balcony. Not sure if there is a smoking ban or not constantly see people smoking in the parking lot etc. Dog poop everywhere, frequent trash pick up issues. Apartments are nice modern spacious but they are costly and the value for money is not a good return. I would move somewhere else or rent a house before coming here

The apartments are extremely modern and sleek looking. I ignored the negative reviews but now really wish I did not sign a lease here. The floors are paper thin and you can hear every move the people above you make. In fact, my kitchen light fell from the ceiling from them making noise above. I would not recommend anyone moving in here.
York Woods at Lake Murray have the best floor plans. The apartments are very large and roomy. The staff is excellent and very informative. The location is great, only about a half of a mile from the lake. Very close to resturants in Irmo and Lexington. The traffic isnt bad at all.
I moved here from my last apartment just down the road. The staff is so much nicer here! I also like the apartment and the wooded view I have.
Bad service, frequent car break ins, they charge huge amount when you move out, no place for kids to play, dog poops, outsiders come in swimming pool, they don't pick up phone, late reply by email.

My husband and I cannot brag enough about York Woods Apartments! We just moved here from out of state. We had a different rental set up for us when we moved to the area. Upon arrival the original rental was not at all what it was advertised to be. We were in a position where we needed to move quickly, York Woods office staff made that possible. They were attentive, very intentional, and helped us out in every way they possible could! The amenities are wonderful. We are very excited about the sidewalks and puppy parks. Again, I cannot say enough about the office staff and how very helpful and caring they were! Some of the very best customer service we have ever received.

We moved into this apartment before construction ever began. We got to enjoy a few months without it, it was great up until it started. Ever since they started bulldozing, hammering, and shouting outside it's sucked living here. The construction is going on from sunrise to sunset. One morning they were outside at 4am and I called and I couldn't speak to anyone about it, no call backs either. If you work from 6am-9pm everyday, including weekends, then this isn't a big deal for you. If you're like many other people who have at least one day off a week or you would like to enjoy some peace and quiet when get off work or on one of your only days off, this isn't the place for you. Keep in mind, construction was NEVER mentioned prior to us moving in. No one has addressed it, it's just being ignored. Highly considering breaking my lease.

First, the apartments themselves are quite seductive. However, as someone else has said, the walls are paper thin and you hear EVERYTHING. There had been reports of cars being broken into, and there was a security patrol for a bit. However, I haven’t seen that in months. The clubhouse area is nice, and they use it as a selling point. What they don’t tell you is that the clubhouse is only open during business hours. The average person will never get to use it. As someone else points out, rent is due on the first. If you pay on the 2nd, you get hit with a late fee and an eviction warning. I’ve never seen that before. However, if you try to pay early, you have no way of knowing what is due, because the water charge changes and it’s not posted until the first. The other annoying policy, is that they don’t transfer funds right away. In one instance, it took almost a full week, and caused us to be overdrawn. They now require us to uss a debit card, and charge us 30 dollars every month. No checks. No cash. You must pay online. This is a transitional community. There seems to be quite a bit of turnover. There are no community mixers, no real sense of community. Again, we weren’t used to this. The breezeways are filthy. Stains from leaking garbage bags all over the walkways and walls. The maintenance guys are the one bright spot. Friendly, and trustworthy. Management turns over often. Something else to be aware of, they are adding a significant number of new units. From what I hear, they aren’t adding a second pool. If that’s the case, this will become a big issue.

At&t: This community gets their TV & Internet services for the front office, resident lounge and media room from At&t, and in exchange, they do not allow any other Internet Providers to service in the community. So like it or not, you are stuck with At&t. Because of lack of competition, At&t exploits the residents with bad services like delayed installations. In my case I had to wait for at least 3 weeks before the installation. Late Fees: The rent payment is considered late on 2nd of the month in this community. In all my past communities, payments after 5th of the month were considered late. Staff: The building management staff is very unfriendly and unwilling to help as they always blame others. Theft: There have been a number of car break-ins as reported by other reviewers as well. There have been some corrective measure like Police Patrolling, however, these are temporary in nature and not enough. Pets: There are a ton of dogs in the community and the pet owners don't always clean up after them. This offence is not taken seriously by the management. Valet Trash: There is an additional fees of $25 for Valet Trash. I wish this was optional for people willing to dispose their own Trash.

My husband and I have lived here for a year and a month. In this period of time our LOCKED car has been broken into three times. The first time we informed the front desk and they tried to blame it on us saying we must not have locked our door properly and they informed us and that they would ask corporate for cameras. Our car doors are always locked, they break in through our passenger side door as when we get to the car it’s unlocked and ajar. The thieves had used an access tool to pop the lock and get in. The second time the same thing happened and the apartment complex’s maintenance shed was broken into as well. We were assured by the front desk they would talk to corporate again about cameras and some form of security. Only after their own property was stolen from did they send the request for security cameras for the community. The third time our car was broken into they once again said they would ask corporate to install security cameras and they would ask the local police department to come patrol through more often. They tried to shift the blame completely on the police department. We have asked for cameras, we have asked for a security guard, we have asked for a license plate scanner, we have even asked for a decoy “camera in use” sign to deter potential thieves. None of our requests have been honored. We are not the only people having our cars broken into. Our neighbors cars have been broken into as well. We have been desperately trying to get someone to do anything about the situation as this is not a safe place to live. I would not recommend living here.

Sunday evening, our community was one of several that was targeted, resulting in several car break-ins. At York Woods, vehicles did not have any signs of forced entry and the police believe only unlocked vehicles were targeted. To help prevent future incidents like this, we are reminding everyone to keep their vehicles locked and remove valuable belongings. The police are working on the case and are asking for your help. We can never control other people’s actions but we each can take individual steps to eliminate being a target. We are terribly sorry that your vehicle was targeted and we are looking into other measures, while working with the policed department to follow their recommendations. The floors are paper thin. I hear EVERY step that the upstairs renter makes. Literally every step! Sometimes metal rattles in the ceiling while they walk. It's unbearable. Truly awful. I have complained but it's not a noise complaint that the renter can do anything about. It's shoddy construction. Every other aspect is exceptional...staff, amenities, location, etc. but, if you can't even enjoy the apartment you live in, what's the point to any of the other great qualities. If you plan on renting a unit where someone lives above you, take a friend and have them walk around upstairs and see for yourself.
