Originally named Howell's Crossing after a cotton merchant named Evan Howell, Duluth was renamed in 1871 after a flowery speech given in Congress by Rep. J. Proctor Knott condemning the expansion of the railroad to Duluth, Minnesota as wasteful. The over-the-top, tongue-in-cheek description of the northern city inspired residents of the Georgia town to rename their community Duluth. Today, Downtown Duluth is a busy, attractive suburb of Atlanta, offering a variety of shops, restaurants, and entertainment.

Downtown Duluth has a town green, located along Main Street on the southwest side of City Hall. Historic Downtown Duluth features a variety of businesses, theaters, gift stores, art galleries, and cafes. Some favorite downtown destinations include the Maple Street Biscuit Company, the Good Word Brewing & Public House, and the Red Clay Music Foundry.

Great Place, Nice hard working Staff, Fiber Internet

Been here for about 2 years in a 1bed 1bath unit, and I've had an overall great experience. Staff worked with me if anything went wonky, when items broke, they came to fix it within a reasonable time. AC Unit needed to be replaced along with components outside, and when they were unable to repair right away due to rain (safety hazard due to outside items needed to be replaced) one maintenance staff offered to bring me fans to tide me over in the heat for an extra day. Everyone's mileage will vary depending on needs and wants, but I'll break down the goods and bad that I had with my personal perspective: Appliances: For my unit, it was not one that had gotten updated appliances, so dated fridge, dishwasher, oven, etc. But they were clean and fully functional with no issue. The fridge is a bit small but served me well (keep in mind, 1bed 1bath unit). Bathroom: About average - I've seen a lot worse, but I've seen better. The toilet, sink, bath/shower all work well with no issues. My only gripe was that the tub had a preinstalled bath pad for your footing, but used some type of adhesive to keep it in place and a year after it started coming up and become more of an annoyance than something helpful. Community: Great. Neighbors were cool, the kids in the community were nice (actively avoided playing around parked cars - weren't disrespectful). The place is also genuinely beautiful. During the summer, the green from the trees and the foliage are wonderful. Never used the pool personally, but always saw families having fun at it. Internet: AT&T and Comcast are options here. I opted in to use AT&T Fiber and have had consistent fast internet which I require for my line of work. Pest Control: For the most part, I've not had issues with insects. Got the occasional spider, fly, or roach - but that's about once in 1 to 3 months -- (flies can be a bit more during the summer -- typical fly flying into the unit when you're leaving/entering the unit). The property also has routine pest control that comes to spray to help continue pest prevention. The Area: This area of Duluth is pretty great. The only downside is that you can hear a distant train every once and a while but never to the point of it being unbearable. but you have stores, doctors, dentist, restaurants, car dealerships for maintenance, and more in the area. There are schools - but I don't have children so I cannot speak to the quality of said schools in the area. And there are parks and more.

NEVER MOVE HERE!!!!

Poor Management, don't fix anything, painted and put up new siding when units need NEW APPLIANCES (burners on stove not working), NEW PLUMBING (bad backup, broken dishwasher and low water flow in toilet), NEW CABINETS (crumble when opening and closing), BUGS, tenants smoking marijuana outside, windows either don't open or hard to open, HVAC System leaks and they don't change the filter every month like required. Dogs roam and use the bathroom (nobody picks up), soooo many horrible things BUT they want your rent!!! TERMINATED LEASE after 10 months.

Location, Location, Location

Looking for a nice quiet community where the people are friendly?Then this is the place for you! An excellent location with everything you could possibly need within a 2-5 mile radius without the hassel of Metro Atlanta traffic, there are; parks, shopping (grocery, malls, speciality shops), restaurants, night spots, movies, theatre, doctors offices, a hospital across the street, and more to make your life fun and easier. This community offers a rustic feel with natural surroundings, nestled on top of a bluff, the atmosphere is a must see. The apartment floor plans are roomy and comfortable. The swimming pools are salt water in a location to allow for plenty of sunshine and space for all to enjoy.
