Restaurants

In a city as southern as they come, Windsor Heights residents take pleasure in a wonderfully eclectic mix of dining choices.

Sweet Spice, serves up authentic Caribbean food, including traditional favorites such as ox tail, jerk chicken and curried goat. Open since 2011, this charming local spot with its brightly painted interior also serves fresh carrot juice and American favorites such as homemade macaroni and cheese and red velvet cake. As you enter, a staff member calls out from the back “Welcome to Sweet Spice where everything is nice," and the savory smells and relaxing reggae remind you to enjoy the peaceful “irie” vibe of Jamaica.

Another spot favored among locals is Troy Mediterranean Cuisine. The distinctive flavors of velvety baba ganoush and hearty falafel entice, but you can also count on enjoying a good burger when you’re in the mood. Fairly priced, this neighborhood staple delivers tasty food and stellar service and the atmosphere never disappoints.

Tailgate Sports Bar and Grill has an assortment of spicy wings, daily drink specials, flat screens lining the wall and a craft beer selection that's out of this world. Locals have made this a go-to spot for watching the big Sunday game.

History

Bound by Abercorn on the north, White Bluff on the south and Armstrong State University on the west, Windsor Forest stands as one of Savannah’s oldest southern suburbs. Filled with simple ranch style homes as well as more spacious dwellings, Windsor Forest also houses the LaVida Country Club, which features a nine-hole golf course and community pool. Residents enjoy a relaxing vibe in this neighborhood, taking in local events such as the Annual Dixieland Cruisers Charity Car Show at Windsor Forest Baptist Church and International concerts at Armstrong Fine Arts Center. An annual Focus on the Forest event encourages neighbors to take part in their community.

Street parking options remain free and plentiful in Windsor Forest, and Interstate 95 and Route 80 provide easily accessibility for commuters.

With clean cars and reliable service, Chatham Cab and Transport stands as the area’s most trusted cab service, as well as one of its most cherished. Uber also services the area.

Cost
