Winchester Lofts

We had a parking lot and they made it into new apartments. Now we are paying $75 to park across the street. Takes about 10 min to get to your apartment now ridiculous!!! Won’t be renewing my lease

The good: beautiful apartments, friendly staff, close to Yale grad schools and I-91. The bad: -No covered parking and poor security. Cars have been broken into on a weekly basis this spring/summer. -Loud fire alarms every week or two make it difficult to work from home or have pets. This wasn’t a problem until the last couple months. No explanation as to why it keeps happening.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPLEX! First couple months of living there my car was smashed into, then realized that the hood was down the block. My wife stopped walking around the neighborhood because of safety issues. These apartments also are poorly insulated, there is crazy amount of noise coming from the main road as well, and we have SEEN BUGS throughout the facility. Looks nice from afar but multiple factors can be seen after signing the lease trap. Also read the fine print in the lease, you have to give 60 days notice to vacate when the lease is over, they got us for an extra month.

I really love living here. The apartments are updated and beautiful. The amenities are useful. The location to downtown is perfect

We have only lived here two weeks but so far we are very happy with our decision to move here. We love our apartment and everyone has been very welcoming and helpful - from the management team (Cayley, Cindy, and Ginger) to the residents that we?ve met. It?s a quiet neighborhood but a short and easy walk/bike to beautiful Yale Campus and the New Haven Green.

I have lived in this property for two years now and I love my apartment, the layout and setup is perfect for me, including the large windows that add a sense of space and natural light that is hard to find. All the staff is very diligent, polite and willing to help, the neighbor community is respectful and responsible.

I love my place otherwise I wouldn't live here year to year but because the rent continues to rise without the option of seeing other apartments that may not be as much to move into (another floor? smaller?) - and that was an option before, transparent pricing that didn't change day to day. I get that all of these buildings do it but that doesn't make it right and again, at least if I could still see the various apartments same as in the past that would be great. The AC is quite loud and not efficient and the same goes for heat unless you want to spent A LOT of money on utilities. I keep my AC at 77 during summer and sometimes at 78 and winter 65 or 64. I live with it though and haven't found a better place that wouldn't cost more for a one bedroom or more importantly less and be newer. The maintenance is AMAZING and other staff super helpful.

I have lived here for a few years and do like the apartment and specifically maintenance staff who are absolutely amazing however - the apartments are not located downtown, AC and heat are very loud and to keep costs low one cannot really use them much, the place doesn?t have the amenities other apartments located downtown (new apartments) have yet rent is as high which is upsetting.

Very cool design. It?s privilege to live an a historic building but it has its perks and disappointments.

It's a very nice property, apartments have great style, the leasing and admin staff are very diligent and friendly. There is always enough parking spots and the are is secure with the exception of a few incidents in the parking lot.

Nice place to live. Very quiet.

My move-in experience was very smooth, and the office and facilities staff are very welcoming, competent, and professional. Very happy with Winchester Lofts thus far.

Winchester lofts are great!

About 6 months ago the building installed noise insulation between apartments in a side-to-side manner. What they didn't fix was the important part with noise coming from the neighbors above and below you. I can't tell the amount of times I have been woken up at 3:00-4:00 am with some very awkward noises. It sounds like they are literally in your room. For the price you pay for the apartment you really should be able to afford some quiet. The staff was apologetic at first but it really doesn't seem like they have any plans to fix this issue. They've also undergone high staff turnover, so the whole management staff is currently completely new.

Winchester lofts is overpriced loft living in a less-than-desirable part of New Haven. The building's staff is its best feature. You can tell that they care about their residents, and try very hard to keep them happy. I have generally enjoyed my time living here, apart from one main issue. Our neighbors can hear us just as clearly as we can hear them. There is no privacy, and sleep has been lost on both parties. The building has no acoustic separation between units due to oversights in construction. Management is trying to fix the problem, but if you value privacy and quiet, you may want to live elsewhere.

Winchester Lofts is the ideal compromise between the sleek amenities offered in modern city apartments and the calm atmosphere of Prospect Hill and East Rock. While it may be a bit far from downtown or the Yale campus (in comparison to other new builds), it's only a mile away and the distance is absolutely worth what you get in the apartment. Each unit comes equipped with beautiful cabinets, soft-close drawers, and stainless steel appliances, and all residents get access to the exercise room, game room, theater room, and other common spaces. I highly recommend the Lofts for anyone!

This building is a hidden gem located in the Science Park area of New Haven. It's new construction, close to the highway and just a mile from the center of the city, and is especially dog friendly. The rent is a little high and my only real complaint is that there is no roof deck, outdoor patio space, or pool. But the courtyard is lovely and the common spaces are well kept.
