Tyrell has been a constant source of comfort and understanding throughout the leasing process! The apartment was so clean and neat with fresh paint and flooring. Quiet neighborhood. Very pleased with it so far!

I was recently locked out of my apartment due to a broken lock on the door. When contacting Westwinds Emergency maintenance they only provided me with two numbers for closed locksmiths in my area so I had them submit multiple work requests letting them know I was locked out. I ended up sleeping in my car with no call back. I went ahead and paid for a locksmith and informed the emergency maintenance line that I was having him open the lock and that they would have to just replace it later. I go by with the invoice for the locksmith and am told that I am not able to be reimbursed because the two people that wrote up my service request with westwinds did not say it was a lockout event even though I made it very clear. The gentleman that fixed my lock was professional, but I know to avoid property management now with any issues.

Back at the beginning of August I applied for an apartment they took $100 application fee out of me and a $200 deposit when they took the application they already knew from my income that I would not be approved but they still took the money anyway I was to give my $200 back it's been over 6 weeks and I still have not got any money back and no one will return my phone calls so customer beware they will take your money knowing that you cannot be approved because you don't make three times the rent Plus including the utility separate and then they take your money and turn you down anyway and you have to fight for your deposit very on professional professional

Westwind is a Great place to live. Great community and peaceful. The property Manager(Sarah) is the best. She assist with anything that you have a problem with. I LOVE IT OUT HERE??

And online was showing they have four unit available but at the office told they doesn’t have anything available at this time

After looking at several other complexes; we decided on West Winds. The idea of not looking at the highway or shopping centers (like some others we toured) really appealed to us! We love the trees that line the driveway as you enter into the complex. It is located in an area that allows easy access to a variety of grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants and highways. 20 minutes from Hampton, 10 minutes from Norfolk allows for easy commute. The pool is very nice (pre-COVID...it was not open this summer due to the restrictions) We enjoy living here and have referred others here, also.

Why I love were I live. There is always something going to keep everyone connected and meeting your neighbors. The staff is amazing and com in a timely manner. Everyone is very friendly. The leasing manager is awesome such a beautiful spirit and always smiling. Family comes first even down to the pets.

The management really do care about there tenants and are willing to help in anyway they can.

I am loving my place..been here since November..office staff is very nice and professional..would recommend this community to anyone who is looking for a quiet, spacious and great location.

I love where I live the staff is outstanding the property is beautiful and I love how involved the community our maintenance staff is friendly and prompt. The staff is always doing something for the residents and have a great summer program to keep the kids busy. I am blown away at this apartment complex. The whole staff here is outstanding, prior to move-in we were sent reminder texts of what we needed to bring on our move in day. On move-in day, we received a phone call right at 9am (when the office opened) letting us know they were there and ready for us. Dawn helped us on our first day there, AMAZING service and super friendly! Even had a super cute little move in goodies for us. All in all, leasing staff is hands down the best. Upon move-in, our apartment was spotless. Noticable vacuum marks on the carpet, bathrooms fully clean, oven/stovetop looked like they were just cleaned. Made our move in wonderfully easy. Neighbors are very friendly, everyone has said hello. Very quiet apartment complex as well. Ample parking. Extremely happy with our choice to move into Westwinds!

I moved to the Westwinds Apartments nearly 2 years ago as a single mother with two young children. This was my first time living alone and it was quite a daunting idea. That is why I am SO grateful that I found Westwinds - since I have lived here, I have felt safe and valued as a tenant. I love the amenities, such as the dog park, the playground and the free 'car wash' station. It's very quiet here and I have yet to witness a bad incident. The staff is very friendly and hold frequent fun community events. I highly recommend Westwinds for anyone, especially military. They are extremely military-friendly.

I have lived here for about a year now, and me and my boyfriend love it. The staffing is great. They are outstanding and very friendly. The maintenance people are awesome. We have made this place our home and we call them our family. Everyone is willing to go the extra mile for their residents. Close to food places, shopping, and activities. Westwinds is the place to stay, they (we) are the BEST!

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful throughout the entire process. Seems like a nice tight knit community which is uncommon for an apartment complex.

My girlfriend and I were emailing the staff back and forth about renting an appartement. We came to a decision and told the Westwind appartement staff that we would be in the following day. Less than 4 hours later the apartment was rented out to someone else. There was no communication and no phone calls or emailing us that they would not rent to us... Nothing! I am extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with the staff and their inability to communicate within their organization and potential tenants.

I have lived in Westwinds Apartments for a year and I just renewed my lease again to start my second year. I love how spacious my 3 bedroom apartment is for my family. I have a huge walk in closet in my bedroom, and the master bedroom is so large I have all of my bedroom furniture and a sofa that fits comfortably as well. This community is also extremely military friendly as they provide a 10% discount and it helps that it is extremely close to Norfolk Naval Shipyard and Naval Medical Center. It takes me 15 minutes to get to work. You have got to check it out. Its great!!!!!

This is home away from home for all serviceman and hard working civilians. Not far from the shipyards or military bases. Located in a central location that invites you to visit all the attractions in the area from top notch restaurants, beaches, shopping malls and historic monuments. The staff is always there to assist you in anyway possible followed by a quality maintenance team. Family living is the motto with a pool for the kids, grills for the grill masters and a dog park that invites your pets to have some fun of there own. With amenities that fit your needs you'll love Westwinds Apartments.

This is a very quiet complex! I hardly ever see my neighbors or have never had any noise complaints. Maintenance is always fixing what I need fixed pretty fast. The apartment complex has tons of activities for everyone and tons of contests. I have even won a $100 off of rent before. The rooms are spacious and I love the stand up shower in the master bedroom. MY APARTMENT COMPLEX IS A BEAUTILFUL QUIET AND WELL KEPT ATMOSPHERE THAT IS BEYOND SUFFICIENT AND COMFPORTABLE TO RAISE CHILDREN. IT HAS A HOST OF VERY ATTRACTIVE AMENITIES SUCH AS : POOL, PLACE TO WAS VEHICLE, ONSITE LAUNDRY MAT AS WELL AS OPEM PARKING. I CURRENTLY LIVE IN ONE OF THEIR 3 BEDROOM APARTMENT AND IT IS VERY SPACIOUS AND GAVE ME THE HOMELY FEEL BEFORE I HUNG PICTURES ON THE WALL. WESTWINDS IS A WONDERFUL PLACE FOR ME TO CALL HOME!!!!

I am active duty military, and this is my first apartment on my own. My fiancee moved in here about a year ago, and I have never been happier. The staff is exceptionally friendly and the most helpful people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Any minor repairs needed are done promptly, and with a smile from 2 former Navy sailors who enjoy sharing some sea stories while assisting. The grounds are wonderfully kept up, plenty of open area, and never a problem with parking. They cater to us active duty, knowing that we don't make a lot of money, and even give us a discount for our service. Neighbors are wonderful, area is close to everything, community pool is inviting, and all in all, I am delighted to have the pleasure to live here. Westwinds, you are hands down the best. Thank you for everything that you do for us!

Customer service is outstanding, the staff listen to your concerns with patience and try to solve any issues you may have. I can't say enough about that one curiosity!! Westwinds has been a wonderful place to live, I feel safe and secure here, they offer residents various activities and kid friendly. The grounds are well kept and what can I say more than a beautiful community.

This is my second time living here. I live here almost 20 years ago when my mother and I decided it was time for me to live on my own and I enjoyed it then. There have some significant improvements made and I enjoy being in an area that I can call home. The area is well lit and you feel secure when you get out of your car. The staff, all the way from the manager to maintenance, is always eager to please in any and all situations. I would recommend anyone to reside here.

I like my apartment it is very family oriented it has a nice playground and cookout area has a very nice pool as well. My apartment is very spacious I love that I have a walk in closet. I also love the fact we have volted celing when you first walk in it makes the apartment looks a lot bigger. I have a bar counter so I was happy about that. My kitchen is open which that works perfect for me because I can watch tv while cooking. Our hallway closet is so big it could actually be another bedroom I love how big it is. I can go on and on about how much I love me apartment but it is definitely great and perfect for my family

Westwinds apartments won the TMHC Resident Choice Award this year and it is well-deserved. Everything is always well-kept. The staff is friendly and there are awesome community events that encourage you to get aquainted with the neighbors. They also provide discounts for military service members and civilian, students and emergency service employees.

The complex is tucked away in a quiet part of Churchland area of Portsmouth. There's always enough parking and it is very well lit, and also has a security guard making rounds at night. Maintenance is fast and effective. Easy access to 164 and minutes from Midtown tunnel and MMMBT.

I've been in this same apartment now for about 4 years. During my tenure as a tenant, I've found that the staff here appears to really care about the building and the community. The office area is always clean, smells good and presentable. They strives to be the best at what they do from the welcome center to maintenance. The area is surrounded by the neighborhood pool and picnic area. They just recently won the neighborhood of the year award. Convenience is essential, for instance, there's a laundry section on the property to accommodate the tenants who doesn't have a washer and dryer. On the same location, there is a car wash station if you don't want to go to a local car wash station. We also have satellite for our televisions which is included in the rent. It's also a pet friendly area. Few of the bonuses they offer is $200 off your rent for a referral who moves in. Also have $100 off your rent if you pay your rent within a week early if your name is drawn from a lottery. I'm glad to be a part of the Westwind family as a tenant. They've proven to me that excelling is important to them. The area is well lit and I never had a problem with my vehicle being broken into; they have Security as well. I'm really enjoying my 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment. This is the end of my review.

I just started my 12th year at Westwinds Apartments and during that time I have seen people come and go including staff and maintenance.However they always replace their staff and maintenance with professional and friendly people. They also do a superb job in making you feel at home with their friendly attitude. The grounds and buildings are well maintained and also a safe environment to raised children and for elderly tenets. This I know because I am 64. It was my intention to stay at Westwinds for no more than two years, but as I mention earlier that was ten years ago, needless to say I am proud to call Westwinds my home. The complex has a nice rental office attached to a swimming pool. The service for maintenance calls is very prompt. I'm impressed with the upgrades, especially the A/C unit that's more energy efficient than the previous one.

I work hard to live in a place that . I feel safe and relaxed in and westwinds apartments is the place i found. Working as an emt for the city can wear your body out so having a place to come to and unwind is wonderful. Clean enviormment, armed security at night and dog friendly. I made a home here!

It's a quiet community they are starting to upgrade the bathrooms and kitchens. I think the area needs a little more lightning. I didn't give it 5 stars because it not perfect and 4 stars if because I had a few problems with the office staff when I first moved out there 3 years ago but they have w whole new staff now

Westwind apartments in Portsmouth are the best in the area! The Staff is incredibly helpful and maintenance is always ready to help if there is a problem. The complex is kept very nice and clean. There are a lot of military people, thus the area is very quiet and I haven't had any problems with anything. It has spacious rooms, washer/ dryer hookups and a balcony for a very reasonable price. I have looked around the area and have not found another complex that has all the features of the Westwind apartments. A big plus is that it is close to the Naval hospital and the Naval shipyard. All my friends that come visit always say how nice it is.

The amenities include a seasonal resort-style pool, full-size washer and dryer connections in every home, ceiling fans (select homes), vaulted ceilings (3rd floor apartments only), energy-efficient gas heat, private patios and balconies, a decorated fireside clubhouse, a single on-site laundry facility, two playgrounds, a single picnic and grilling area, and is pet friendly (certain restrictions apply) with a dog park. These apartments are available in either: gas cooking and heating, electric water heating, or total electric with energy-efficient heat pumps, free basic DirecTV (satellite) cable service, and various leasing options. Westwinds offers four (4) floor plans consisting of a one bedroom / one bath at 900 ft.², two (2) styles of two bedroom / two baths at 950 ft.², and a three bedroom / two baths style at 1150 ft.². Residing in "The Sloop" model - a one-bedroom apartment at 900 ft.² - my eight months experience at Westwinds Apartment community has been mixed, to say the least. The unit consists of a 14’ x 13’ living room area, a 10’ x 9’ dining room area, and a 14’ x 14’ bedroom. The flooring consists of wall-to-wall Frieze (twisted style) carpeting in the living spaces and rolled linoleum in the kitchen and bathroom. All of the interior doors and electrical finish plates are new but it’s apparent that the electrical devices are original, as they function intermittently due to highly repetitive use (e.g., loose receptacle contact connections). Also, immediately after moving into a first floor unit, I instantly experienced the inconvenience of reverberating, low frequency, thumping noises that resonate from the wooden staircase access throughout the three-story, wood-framed building. The annoying sounds emanating from the staircase is intensified by the resonating sounds transmitted by the second floor and adjoining, first floor tenants. The second floor resident, being a moderately-statured male occupant, generates amplified noises produced by normal walking throughout his apartment, routine closing of kitchen cabinets, playing music from a high-wattage entertainment system (at moderate volumes), vacuuming, and having a visiting child running throughout the apartment, falling down, and dropped

I've lived here for almost 2 years. Never had any real problems. Maintenance is always prompt and friendly. My kids love the pool. Nice neighborhood.
