On the west side of Baltimore, extending along the Patapsco River and with Patapsco Valley State Park extending along its west side, Catonsville provides a picturesque setting just minutes from the city. Catonsville is a college town, home to the University of Maryland-Baltimore County and the Community College of Baltimore County. Frederick Road serves as Catonsville's main street, lined with historic architecture and containing a variety of shops, art galleries, restaurants, and other businesses.
Catonsville is home to several great destinations and landmarks. Hilton, built in 1825, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The mansion is located on what was known as "Taylor's Forest," first surveyed in 1678. Today, it is part of Patapsco Valley State Park, and the Hilton Area Hike Start is located off Hilltop Road. UMBC is home to the Earl and Darielle Linehan Concert Hall, a performing arts venue.

Property Ratings at Westerlee Apartment Homes
Neighborhood feels safe, neighbors are quiet and pleasant. Everyone in the leasing office is kind and helpful. The apartments themselves are spacious and have ample storage. I love having a private balcony. But I have been unsatisfied with the quality of the amenities, especially now that we are being charged an extra $50 amenity fee per month on top of rent AND all the utilities. I use the gym a lot and it looks like it's never cleaned, and it could use a place to hang/store belongings while working out. When the gym equipment breaks it takes months for things to be fixed. The appliances in the apartments themselves are TINY and very outdated. And maintenance usually takes 3 visits to actually resolve problems, most issues are given bandaid solutions multiple times before they actually come back to solve things. But all the workers are very respectful and pleasant. Overall I like living here. But these issues keep me from rating 5 stars.

Apartments themselves are okay. The floors are insanely loud and creaky. Maintenance and the leasing office staff do the bare minimum. They have updated some of the gym equipment, but the other amenities are either out of date or are useless.

Pricey for what you get. Noisy neighbors and the walls are extremely thin. Everything has 500 layers of paint over it. Washer/dryer are not full size. Bathroom is small. My apartment had broken glass and screws hiding in the carpet when I moved in, so they obviously did not clean. Also the toilet had mold in the bowl, and kitchen cabinets had grease spatter on them. Also dead bugs in the carpet/windowsills. So clearly they do not clean before turning the apartment over.

Office staff are exceptional Many small quality of life problems upon move-in but maintenance staff are unresponsive I can hear all the upstairs neighbors footsteps, talking, flushing, etc.
Super clean and people here are extremely nice. The front office people are super friendly and always willing to help with anything. Maintenance fixes most things quickly.

My experience here is great. Everyone is amazing. And the neighbors are wonderful. I love living here and would recommend this place to anyone looking for another apartment.
I love living here. The office staff are amazing, and they help me live here comfortably. I have mobility and stability problems. Living at 292 Bloomsbury became difficult, due to the landscape. When I inquired about another ground floor apartment with an on-level parking lot, they leapt into action and found my current place. They also take care of any maintenance issues in a timely manner. Westerlee has been a true blessing to me.

Apartment was not clean when I moved in. Washer/dryer and microwave are not full size. Shower has a weird shape which makes it difficult to install shelves/ racks for shampoo and stuff. There was a lot of trash left outside after Labor day. Walls are kinda thin, I can hear people snoring in the apartment above me. But location is nice and the living space is good size. They gave it the landlord special 100x over to the point that paint is peeling in thick layers. Tell me why they painted the door lock, which was stainless steel? Same with the closet rods. Smdh

We love the 24hr gym and the quite neighborhood. Convient to grocery stores and malls. Easy access to 695 and rte 40. Medical facilities near by. Apts are spacious.

There’s always room for improvement. The pool deck needs to be sprayed or treated for ants. It’s challenging to enjoy a day at the pool when your stuff is covered in ants before you leave…and I mean covered with hundreds of ants. Otherwise, the experience has been positive.

I am ready to leave after my lease runs out. Over all it is an below average complex at best. I love the maintenance employees. There has been 5 managers in the 5 years I lived here. The office staff change and are very snotty and rude.

So far no issues and no concerns. They will work with you, just let them know in advance. They keep the property clean as possible however, the residents need to work on putting the trash in the bins, not surrounding the bins. Pet friendly and they have a pet park.

The main issue is noise. If you have people living above you, the floors are extremely creaky and you will hear every step people take. They have taken steps to upgrade the fitness center, which is great. Hopefully they continue to do so.

Rent keeps increasing. The customer service and office workers don’t seem to care about their residents and are very unhelpful. They charge you fees for everything and there’s no grace.

Alexis was very helpful during the application process and everyone in the office was very friendly when I showed up for my tour. The community is nice and so far no problems with any neighbors. I drive a full size F-150 and parking is pretty easy.

It’s a nice property to live in. Nice neighborhood, grocery shops, Walmart, Lidl, car rental, everything is very close by. The property is very well managed and if there are any maintenance issues, the management resolves it within 2days. Definitely recommended

the money for the quality is ridiculous. What do I mean? the rent is VERY high and the quality of the apartment (lighting, carpeting, doors, flooring etc) and the appliances in the apartments are extremely low. I am paying high society rent for low society stuff.

Great location. Close to beltway. Nice quite community. A lot of great amenities like the 24 hr gym and can't wait to try out the pool. Management keeps you abreast of the goings on.

Maintenance is usually pretty good. When I submit a ticket they’re usually at my place the next day. Appliances are kind of cheaply put together like the oven and dishwasher.

The staff was very helpful during my application and move in, very responsive also helped with my special request. My apartment fits and meets my needs, and in fair condition for it's age, minor correction needed. One of my concerns would be security, but appears to be a safe community.

This is such a nice, clean, and quiet place to live. I love it here! My neighbors are very nice and friendly. My apartment is large and I love where it’s located. Plus, having all the stores, restaurants, and other businesses nearby is awesome! I can even get to my church in less than 10 minutes. Now, that’s what I call convenience!!!

Really nice community to live in. Very quiet and safe considering being right off of a major road. I really enjoy my stay here. The front office staff is always warm and welcoming. The maintenance crew responsive and quick with repairs.

I love it here I feel very safe here . The ladies in the office are very nice. When you have something broken . They come out right away. I love the neighborhood it is very quiet. Very close to a lot of stores .

Lazy maintenance that doesn't fix any appliances, no matter how many tickets are put in. Constant excuses, yet here we are with broken equipment. However, I see the "constant turnover" units getting brand new appliances! We get nothing as long time residents except the desire to get out of here. Management doesn't care; there's a new property manager every 6 months. None of them know how to keep a job.

I love living here. It’s the perfect retirement home for empty nesters. The staff is full of good people and there’s never a dull moment. No holiday goes unnoticed. And when issues arrive, they’re on it right away. The location is very convenient for shopping, dining and public transportation too.

My experience has been good overall. I have some complaints about maintenance at times and not getting issues fixed properly. I also think the communication between the leasing office is poor at times. I have enjoyed the space of the apartment and I feel safe here. It is quiet and peaceful overall.

The neighborhood is great. But if you live off of Dlong Road it is VERY noisy. The car dealership lot across the street sets off the car alarms all of the time. The amenities are sub-par. The pool is the best amenity, yet the hours they are open have been drastically reduced. The fitness center is also in need of an upgrade.

The application process was Fast and easy. The apartment has what I wanted. The freeWiFi is a big plus. The location is nice and quiet. I am glad I chose Westerlee.
