There's a big sense of pride within West Fargo, and the cultural attractions reflect that. One of the biggest and most famous places of note is Bonanzaville. Bonanzaville is the brainchild of the Cass County Historical Society. The "village" encompasses 12 acres and has 43 historic buildings. A tour or stroll through Bonanzaville will expose you to thousands of artifacts and memorability. Cass County Museum is a central part of this area and is open all year round, while Pioneer Village operates from May to October. There's a rotating exhibit gallery that changes periodically, so there is always something new to see. With an affordable admission price of $5 for adults, and $3 for kids 6-16 its a place both residents and visitors can enjoy visiting often.

West Fargo is also home to the Red River Valley Fairgrounds. The Red River Valley Fair is held every summer in July. The fair features rides, exhibits, a beer garden, competitions, and grandstand shows featuring top performers. The fairgrounds also maintains camping facilities in the spring and summer, and hosts meetings for many area organizations including the 4-H club.

Just east of West Fargo, in Fargo is the Roger Maris Museum. Roger Maris was a professional baseball player from North Dakota who broke Babe Ruth's homerun record in 1961 by hitting 61 home runs that year. Although the museum isn't technically in West Fargo it exudes much of the North Dakota pride feeling typical of the West Fargo area.

West Fargo is a city of various tastes, and has a variety of restaurants to support them. For the refined palate, the French inspired Maxwell's in West Fargo is a great choice. If you simply want a burger and beer, JL Beers is the place to go. There's little decision making skills required here, as the menu consists of burgers, fries, chips, beer, and soda.

A family friendly dining experience TNT's Diner is a good spot. Their menu is filled with things your might find in someone's home such as Swedish meatballs, biscuits and gravy, and bread pudding. Since many in the area have a bit of Scandinavia in their blood they have a nostalgic appreciation of TNT's, which is decorated with a traditional farm motif.

Transportation Options in West Fargo, ND

Getting around West Fargo is quite manageable as are trips outside the area. For day to day errands and trips to work the MATBUS bus system serves West Fargo along with Fargo, and Moorhead and Dillworth, MN just a few miles away. Fares are just $1.50 per ride, and if you work or attend college at NDSU in Fargo or Concordia or Moorhead State University in Moorhead, MN riding the bus is free.

If you don't want to ride the bus there are also taxi and limo options. The Fargo Metro Taxi Cab and Limo service is based in Fargo, but serves West Fargo and Moorhead as well and will bring you wherever you want to go in the area. To head out of town, you can go on a Greyhound Bus or the Amtrak Train to travel all over the country and into Canada.

Those who have a harder time getting around, such as senior citizens and disabled persons can utilize FM Mobility Care which is set up to provide non-emergency transportation for shopping, medical appointments, or trips to work or school.

Weather in West Fargo, ND

North Dakota is known for it's cold winters, and West Fargo is no exception. While many winter days bring temperature in the 20s Fahrenheit, there are also plenty of days with temperatures well below zero with wind chills that make it feel even colder. West Fargo is a fairly windy city overall, much like the state as a whole. Springs and summers are much more pleasant with temperatures creeping up to the 50s, 60s, and 70s in the spring and the 80s, occasional 90s, and in rare cases rising to triple digits during the summer months. Approximately 7-12 inches of snow falls each month over the winter, and spring, summer, and early fall bring on average between 1-4 inches of rain each month.

Normally, West Fargo isn't too wet, but the region does need to keep an eye on the Red River which has been known to flood during some seasons.
