Property Ratings at Virginia Place
I lived here for a year and though the location is great and I felt safe in the neighborhood, and the apartment was cozy and cute, there were some issues. Major issues were the heating and cooling system. I couldn't sleep in my room during the hot summers because the window A/C unit in the livingroom did not reach to my bedroom, so it was very hot. A/C was really loud and old - it had no automatic control so it had to be manually adjusted constantly. In the winter, the furnace would make a loud banging noise - like someone took a hammer to the furnace and at times, startling me out of sleep. I notified the landlord several times about this problem, but it was never fixed, so I had to endure the entire winter dealing with this unpleasant noise. The heat system/thermostat didn't work correctly - if set at 70, the furnace wouldn't shut off until the apartment was 78 degrees. If below 70, it wouldn't kick in, so getting the room temperature right was difficult. There was staining on the walls and in the carpet in the bedroom from the previous tenant before I moved in, and it was noted, but when I moved out, they deducted it from my deposit. Price is high for very few amenities.
