Nestled along Puget Sound, Tacoma is a seaside city ideally located about halfway between Seattle and Olympia with about 30 miles to both. The city is actually named for Mount Rainier, which was originally called Takhoma. If you are looking at apartments in Tacoma, consider Central Tacoma -- it is located on the west side of Downtown, directly south of the University of Puget Sound. Central Tacoma is home to Cheney Stadium and several golf courses.
Life is easy in Central Tacoma -- Tacoma was named one of the most livable cities in the nation. It is also one of the most pedestrian-friendly, and it is home to Washington State's first electric light rail service. As for culture, Tacoma is home to the most museums in the state.

Property Ratings at Unionaire
New owner wants to bring in a higher class of tenets but does nothing to actually repair problems. They plan a large rent increase but nothing has been done to warrant it. Cutting down the trees the city wanted cut doesn’t warrant a rent increase. There is mold everywhere, each unit has mold problems. The washers and dryer’s are terrible. You can only wash with cold water. I’ve lived here for 11 years. It’s very quiet, people keep to themselves but are friendly. One neighbor loves to cook for people and had a garden. Fix the mold, fix the washer and dryers fix the lack of privacy since the owners took down the 6ft fence and replaced it with a 3ft fence. I hate that everyone can now see into my living-room. You don’t feel protected anymore.
Great property manager and owner who do right by the tenants at start and end of lease. Location couldn't be more convenient. Close to everything and affordable while still being in a safe, well kept part of town. No quirks anywhere near bad enough to be worth complaining about here. I would make the same choice to live here again!
