East Liverpool, Ohio sits at the point where Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia meet along the Ohio River, a location that's shaped everything about this small city, from its history to its character. That three-state convergence earned it the nickname "The Tri-State Area," and it gives residents something most places can't offer: a genuinely unique geographic address with easy access to multiple states. Once known as the Pottery Capital of America, East Liverpool produced more than half of the nation's pottery at its peak in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The clay-rich land and Ohio River access made it a natural hub for ceramic manufacturing, and that legacy is still very much present today. The Museum of Ceramics, set inside a beautifully preserved former post office, tells that story well. Downtown still features historic pottery buildings and architectural details that reflect the city's industrial roots.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
