Property Ratings at The Thornton
The Thorntons a good location with nice windows/views. Close to a lot of good parts of town. But be aware of the show room they show you.. it looks way better than the one you get!
I have loved my time at the Thornton. The building is quiet and well maintained; the utilities are very inexpensive; the neighborhood is wonderful.
All in all, my first impressions of living at The Thornton have been overwhelmingly positive. Excellent location, rent rates that are very reasonable, and a clean well maintained set of buildings all serve it well. The buildings are all studio apartments (converted from hotel rooms), so it's better suited for individuals or couples. Cyclists and pet owners will especially fit in here. Definitely recommended!
Unfortunately I had heard some negative things regarding the building's lack of management, but that has not been my experience at all. I've noticed there are a lot of different faces working in the office. (but they have all been very professional, friendly, and promptly returned my calls). We are loving our new location and how dog friendly the whole area is! Can't wait for all of the amenities in our building to become available to us! So excited to use the dog washing area when it reopens!

Poor security. Common areas frequently a mess. The laundry situation is a horror show. The management doesn't know what they are doing.

Its not a bad place to live. The staff that Ive met are really awesome, friendly and its clean. Cant tell you about the amenities due to them being off limits unaccusable to me since arriving . Mail is right, packages delivered and don' walk off. Its comfortable for the most part.
The Thornton has exceeded my expectations so far as a renter. The staff are extremely helpful and kind during the move in process and beyond that. The neighborhood has everything you could possibly need and more! Overall, its an excellent apartment to live in. In fact, its so excellent Ive recommended it to someone else who has also signed a lease.
It is been 5 times I ask Management to help but they never respond. I have been experiencing disturbance from tenant upstairs since I move in, excessive loud noises that hitting my ceiling hardly. MAKE SURE before you move in that tenant upstairs is tenant who do normal activities and not crazy creating excessive noises because once you move in and facing disturbance, management ignore you.
I moved to Portland last winter and received a warm welcome at the Tess O'Brien apartments. From the start, management has been available after hours for whatever questions I had / repairs I needed, and I met a great group of neighbors. The building is practically brand new and has a few great amenities, like the court yard with hammocks, fire place and a beautiful common area with yet another fire place, there's a doggy wash and a gym. Sometimes there is happy hour or a community bbq. :) My main concern with moving here, was noise from neighbors, but I have to say, it's really quiet. And the street is quiet too, located close to 21st and 23rd St, and only a 15-20 minute walk to Forest Park.
