Property Ratings at The Springs Garden Homes
We truly enjoyed our time at The Springs. The residents are wonderful and maintenance was pretty good. Leaving however really turned sour. I did a walk through at the end of the lease, during which time, I was told the apartment looked ok. I have two dogs so I anticipated there would be serious cleaning fees. I was not prepared for the $800 charge that sucked up my security and animal deposits and led to a bill of $300. I was even okay with the bill, once a management representative kindly called me after hours to discuss. The problem.....the $300 is due 15 days from the mailing date. Being reminded of how they "didn't want to have to send it to collections" (which results in an additional 40% fee) did not help either. As soon as I informed the representative that this might be a practice that they may want to revisit, she promptly let me know that this was industry standard. I let her know that I would be taking time to write and let others know, she hung up on me. I understand that the apartment needs to be ready for the next tenant. I own a rental property myself. I dont see why a person could not even be given the span of a pay period before being threatened with collections. Perhaps this is why the onsite property managers keep changing? Sweet neighbors, quiet area. Just beware when it time to leave. I should have given the reviews I read before moving in more credence.
They took $25 out of my security deposit because I left a tote of goldfish crackers and lentils in the kitchen pantry. $25 for someone to take carry it 30 feet to the dumpster. That's a 1 minute job. They could have called and asked if I wanted it back, but no. They also charged me $75 to clean the back patio. I have photos showing it's clean. I also have my move-in report stating gutters were filled with leaves and need to be cleaned when I moved in. They never cleaned the gutters in 2 years, and leaves were constantly falling into the back yard. I raked the leaves every month, even though I am charged for landscaping. If you don't rake them you will get a lot of mosquitoes. I was also charged for a broken closet door. The closet doors are the cheap folding kind. I left mine open for 2 years. I literally didn't close it for 2 years. How did it break? The neighbors are cool and the front area is nicely landscaped, but the management is unreasonable. There are plenty of similar properties with more fair landlords in this area. They're building condos next to this complex. This is why I moved in January, 2018. Management wanted to raise my rent. I asked if they would not raise my rent, because of the construction. They said this against fair housing laws. Good luck finding someone to pay market value for this unit when construction is going on until 7pm, literally 30 feet away. They tore down a house and are building 8 condos. Yikes!
The apts are old and air quality really bad inside. Mgmt is horrible and must have paid for a 4 star.
