I love the amount of amenities given, but upon moving in too many things are either unusual traits unmentioned or unfinished renovations, such as missing bedroom curtains, missing ceiling lights/lights in general, broken elevators, etc. Please pay your maintenance more, whatever it takes to get things working smoothly again

Been here as a resident is cool but the elevators are always down, and we have to wait at least for 30 minutes when that happens because there is a lot of people that want to go to their apartments. And the gym are missing things on the machines like the cable for the kickbacks.

It took a couple days for furniture to come and some issues haven’t been fixed, but however, the apartment is really nice and spacious. I really like the environment and the utilities in the social. Though, it can take a while to use the elevators as there is only one working elevator, especially when you live on the higher floors.

So far it’s been nice and my suite mates are cool. I like that the beds are bigger here and there’s more space, but there’s just one dresser with two drawers to put your clothes in, but other than that it’s good.

When I moved in (8-19-25), they had a lot of time to prepare already. But none of the rooms were clean and I had to clean my room myself. The washing machine doesn’t spin properly and the stove was broke for almost 2 weeks before maintenance fixed it. I had to go a day without my bed and two more days without any other furniture. Some of my other suite-mates went without their furniture for about a week and came to move in with nothing, not even a bed. I gave it two characters because of this but it has a nice theatre room(some relaxers are broke), nice gym (some equipment is broke) and nice indoor and outdoor lounge area.

I have had a good experience here at the social, I am very pleased with the staff as well! I only have 2 problems, the elevators being broke/slow and the fruit flies in my apartment

Horrible, no working AC/Heat/Hot Water atleast a few times a month and for the entire summer last year. Constant issues with a lot of stuff, even random fire alarms that went off. Maintenance team was the sweetest, only people that seemed like they cared.

There are some big issues with the building, but the staff are consistently amazing. Lots of landlord specials in the building, but the owners and new management seem excited to improve things.

It's a spacious apartment for the rent we pay. They provide a lot of facilities as well like the gym and the theater. However, maintenance could be a lot better. There are problems with hot water.

It's a great apartment in a very well placed neighborhood. They have a few issues with the plumbing and heating but they actively try to fix it. Overall, much better than the other apartments around the area.

I stayed in that apartment for two years, and there have been an insane amount of building issues including: no water heat and MANY water shutoffs, a period of a few months where the fire alarms would go off for sometimes hours before they would be turned off, consistent elevator issues, pest problems throughout the entire building, and flooding issues that take ages to get resolved or to even receive any repairs for, just to name a few. And to top off the many problems that come from this old building, management is incredibly unresponsive and does a terrible job of responding to the problems that do arise. The first time I had flooding in my apartment unit, the drywall for the ceiling in my bedroom came down on July 6th. They apparently fixed the water issue after a week or so, but it took them nearly two months for someone to come for repairs, August 28th to be exact. It wasn’t a lack/unavailability of workers either. I had the pleasure of watching countless workers come to fix up the other apartment units for the new tenants that were moving in at the end of August! Several months later in late December to early January, I had another flooding problem in my apartment bedroom, this time from the heating unit. I came back to my apartment after new years to find a pool of water on the floors of my bedroom. I’ve attached more images below to show the damage to the floors. The floors and walls had bad water damage and the drywall was peeling again! I reported the issue to maintained and received the same response “we’ll handle it” and “you’ll get a response soon.” They ripped out my heater and left my bedroom in the state seen below. It’s been two months without heat (besides the tiny little portable heater they provided that I have already complained about being inadequate for when it gets especially cold outside). Despite calling many times for a timeline on the repairs the only responses I get are “it’s scheduled” or my favorite “let me get back to you” knowing that they’ll never call back! If you are searching for somewhere to live, I would definitely recommend looking elsewhere. The management of this apartment building is poor and ineffective. And for the extreme price we pay to live here, you’d assume the conditions would be somewhat livable.

Overall, I like it here. Lots of amenities. Some issues here and there, but the staff get to working on the problems immediately and stay in communication. I love the little events that are open to residents like food gatherings and prizes.

The social North Charles has been home to us since the day we moved in. Conveniently placed at a prime location. It requires to have looked after when it comes to the basic amenities. If that is fixed I feel like it is a wonderful place to call home.
I've been living at Social for a couple of months now and it's been great. It has all the basic amenities and more. Maintainance is good and and there's so many places for entertainment and get togethers like the theatre, rooftop, arcade, lounge and even bbq. Staff response is very good and they often host events for the residents to get to know each other and have a good time.

So far things have been good for me. The staff is great. There are many amenities. We get extra perks like free dinners or breakfast that the staff serves. The building is old, and fairly frequently, there is some problem that needs repairing, but they get on it right away and provide updates.

The apartment is nice but maintenance here sucks. I have been left without a proper bathtub for a month and it still has not been fixed. The job is always half done and it gets worse every time they leave. I would like for it to be fixed but the office hours don't align with my student schedule which also makes it hard to get fixed. Most of the apartment things inside were damaged so if you don't mind staring at broken things as well. The view is nice. The apartment has a lot of potential but lack of management is seen throughout the building complex.

Management is very unresponsive and unapologetic, and cares little for fixing resident problems. The water frequently turns off for up to a day at a time with zero prior notice, floors are stained and unsanitary, and roach infestations were common. During move-out, after displaying and turning in my keys directly to the management office, a month later they claimed that the keys were lost and sent a charge. After a month of my repeated emails and calls with no response, they ultimately told me they will refuse to let me dispute the charge nor look into evidence that I turned in the keys, and charged me for their own error. I highly advise you to reconsider if you are thinking of renting with them.

The actual apartment is pretty decent. However, the leasing office is a huge pain to deal with. There is very poor communication with residents which results in some unresolved hidden fees and maintenance request issues.

I recently stayed at the Social Apartments and found the experience to be a mix of positives and negatives. On the bright side, the community is nice and quiet, providing a peaceful environment that’s hard to find elsewhere. The amenities are great, offering a range of features that make day-to-day living enjoyable. However, the living situation left something to be desired. There were several issues that impacted my stay. The air conditioning and elevators were frequently out of order for long periods, which was quite inconvenient. Additionally, my bathroom ceiling showed significant signs of peeling and erosion, which detracted from the overall comfort and aesthetic of the apartment. In summary, while the community and amenities at Social Apartments are commendable, the maintenance issues need to be addressed to improve the overall living experience.

Really awful place to live. Maintenance issues were not addressed, leasing office impossible to deal with, and they have gone through 3 property managers in 10 months. Very upset and disappointed that I ever chose this place to live.

It's mostly good! The occasion roach and mouse, but maintenance is so nice that they handle it. All in all, the mould is a little worse here than other places, but this is about as nice as student-filled accomodation gets in Baltimore.

I lived at the Social for a year. The gym was nice and the security was good but I would not recommend living here. 1. The entire building smells like garbage. Clogs happen in the garbage chute often, and instead of bringing the trash down to the dumpster most residents leave their trash in the hallway outside the clogged chute instead. The response to the clogs is not quick, and usually the "solution" is pumping air fresheners into the hallways which makes the smell worse. 2. The staff does not communicate well. I started my lease on a sublet and I received my fob and the Wi-Fi password when I moved in. I did not know I had a mailbox until 2 months in. I emailed the front office multiple times asking how to get mail, but they did not answer. The front office was also open on Saturdays when I moved in but stopped being open at some point without notifying the residents. 3. The fire alarms/no smoking rule. The fire alarm goes off often, which is stated in previous reviews. However, most of these were due to the people breaking the no smoking rule in the lease. The fire department would even say that the alarm went off because of people smoking on their way out. Even with the fire department telling the workers on the way out that the alarm went off because of people smoking, not once did the office send out an email reminding people that smoking is a violation of their lease and could result in termination, like many apartment buildings in the area have done. 4. Entering the apartments. I woke up to people inside my apartment twice in my time here. We have doorbells on our doors, which are quite loud, but they never used the doorbell. One time, they knocked down my security pole that I had on the door to get in, and the second time, I woke up to the person in my bedroom. 5. Noise. If your apartment is on the courtyard side, you will be dealing with noise most nights. Many weekday nights, people were blasting music and yelling in the courtyard until 3 am. 6. Other things. The package room was always a mess. I had cockroaches in my apartment. One time, I took the stairs down to the main floor, and when I got there, the doorknob was on the floor, so I could not get to an exit from that stairwell. My apartment itself was not clean when I moved in. There were hairs in the bathroom and the bathroom countertop was cracked and gritty. You can find much better living conditions for a much cheaper price in the area.

I like the facilities and the convenience of the location. It is in a very nice and safe neighborhood. There is 24/7 maintenance and the maintenance staff are great. The management has changed several times since 2020. Some staff really went out of their way to try to help when there were problems, to whom I am very, very grateful. Some were more dismissive. The building is old and the fire alarm system and cooling/heating systems were also old. Building-wide maintenance has been frequently needed at change of season, be that in the fall or in the spring. There were several weeks in the 2023-2024 winter when there was no cold water, and it was hardly new. It happened every year since, and it seemed that only the most recent management tried to get to the bottom of it. The heating and air conditioning used to be relatively stable, but there has been some issues with the cooling system recently. The fire alarm was going off from time to time during 2020-2023, at times twice a day, or several times per week. The most recent management finally provided explanations as to what was going on. When the fire alarm went off, there were several times when the fire department came and investigate and they couldn't even unlock the door to the leasing office where the controllers are... In the past there was a while when the trash chute remained broken for several weeks. There are three elevators and one freight elevator. There used to be at least one elevator that was out of order on any given day. It seemed that since the most recent management took the reins all three were functioning well up to now, and there were very few interruptions. I think that the most recent management has been trying to tackle with these issues that have persisted for a long time. Right now the most problematic is the cooling system. The coolers have not been fully functioning over the last few weeks when the heat wave hit. I hope that it could get resolved soon.

The apartment itself is fine. Everything for me works well. However, since this complex is ruled by undergraduate students, it's become quite annoying now that it's the end of the semester. The walls here are paper thin, and you can hear people like you're with them. So partys/get together starting after 1am is an annoyance. It's only on the weekend thankfully, but other people with jobs etc live here too. People will talk and slam doors at full volume in the middle of the night. Apparently a lack of consideration comes with youth. Maybe it's just my floor.
