South Madison extends along Highway 18, south of Lake Wingra, to roughly the edge of Lake Monona. It includes several parks and the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum. The neighborhood contains the popular Alliant Energy Center, a premier destination for concerts, sports events, and conventions. This large complex includes the Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Willow Island, and the Exhibition Hall.
If you move to South Madison, you’ll appreciate the variety of shops and restaurants in the neighborhood, especially as you get closer to the Alliant Energy Center. South Madison offers a terrific blend of city life, being less than a mile from Downtown Madison, and a suburban location filled with parks. Residents have plenty to do, from hiking the Capital City Trail to boating and fishing on the nearby lakes. Turville Point Conservation Park, located on Lake Monona, provides an additional three miles of wooded, flower-filled nature trails.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at The Ridge Apartments
To anyone applying to JEK properties, don't waste your time applying to their complex. After applying and paying their fee. My wife and I thought we would meet their application requirement. My wife will be a student and myself had a job lined up in Madison. Of course being out of towners, our jobs meets their requirement as wells as our credit score, but moving into Madison seems to be more difficult then expected. After e-mailing back and forth they seemed unhappy with our application and requested more information like rent history, job offers, as well as other information which they stated they needed 4 times the income to rent if you didn't have rent history, which we didn't meet the requirement. JEK properties stated we needed an outside co-signer to meet their requirement under both our names. Mind you my wife and I aren't some teens to twenties individuals applying for housing. Maybe being a minorities may not be the case but it doesn't look that way. Don't was the time unless you know for sure you can get the apartment then pay for the application fee. We applied at the Ridge which the unites had some redone and renovated but the facility isn't all the great.
