Property Ratings at The Outlook at Greystone Apartment Homes
Where do I even begin? On our move-in day, we arrived excited to settle in, only to be told that they did not have a unit ready for us. Let that sink in— we showed up, and there was no apartment for us. This was just the beginning of an absolute horror show. We should have taken that as a sign and ran! Once we finally moved in, the problems started piling up. Our first unit reeked of smoke, and the complex did NOTHING to address the issue. After months of complaints, we had to suggest moving apartments ourselves because they clearly weren’t going to fix it. In our second unit, the front door wouldn’t lock for over a week. We notified maintenance immediately, but they took their sweet time, leaving us feeling completely unsafe in our own home. When they finally showed up, they entered the apartment without warning, despite us specifically asking for notification before they came. The pool? A greenish and cloudy mess. When we asked about it, someone in the leasing office told us to fix it ourselves. The audacity of that response is beyond belief. Speaking of the leasing office, it’s a complete joke. The office is rarely staffed, and when someone is there, they’re clueless and unhelpful. Taneisha, in particular, is never in the office and refuses to accommodate residents with jobs, claiming she can’t meet with anyone after 3:00 PM. It’s clear that no one at this complex knows what they’re doing—or cares. The property itself is a hazard. The windows don’t open, so if there’s a fire, good luck getting out. Maintenance crews destroy the grounds by driving their golf carts everywhere, leaving the place muddy and ugly every time it rains. The most horrifying part was the mold. It was everywhere in the bedroom, and when we reported it, we were gaslit and told there was “no mold.” Their solution? Painting over it. This blatant disregard for residents’ health and safety is disgusting. To top it all off, when we moved out, they immediately sent our payment to collections, locked us out of our rent payment account, and made it impossible to resolve anything. This complex operates like a scam, preying on residents and leaving them worse off than when they arrived. If you’re considering The Outlook at Greystone, don’t. Save yourself the stress, frustration, and health risks. This place is an absolute disgrace!

From the welcome home sign at the front gate to the welcome basket left on my kitchen island, the staff at the Outlook at Greystone truly went above and beyond my expectations. Ebonie, Katey and everyone in the office and on staff truly seems to care, and that makes all the difference. Five stars!

The apartments overall are nice. But the soundproofing between apartments are almost nonexistent. I’ve lived in a few apartments and never been able to hear the persons phone ring below me until now. The parking is also a huge issue. They pack to many residents into a small space with not enough parking. People park in every conceivable space. I’ve had my bumper scraped here, presumably from someone trying to squeeze into somewhere to park. The staff also never answers the phone when you call, you have to go down to the office. The gate never works either.

I found a cozy, light and bright, gem of an apartment in a location convenient to the I-280 corridor of Birmingham! The staff have exceeded my expectations for friendliness, speed, and helpfulness. The property has been well maintained, and I have been enjoying the nature trail. I love the SmartRent app because I can remotely verify that the front door deadbolt is locked and turn off the air-conditioning to save energy when I'm away from home.

The Outlook at Greystone is a great apartment choice if you are looking for a gated community in the 280 corridor that ticks all the boxes. I have been a resident for a few years and am always impressed with the management and maintenance teams, the cleanliness and security of the property and the quiet atmosphere here. Having a variety of floor plans and even the optional garage sets it apart from other apartments. The vibe among neighbors here is friendly and respectful. The amenities are nice and well maintained and if Ive ever had a maintenance request the response was swift. Great value all around for the price. Highly recommend.

Overall a great place to live. The main reason to select living at the Outlook at Greystone would be the staff, particularly the maintenence team. If you're looking for some of the best in the state, these guys are on top of it. They go above and beyond typical maintenence duties. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

the issue lies in the sound proofing between upstairs and downstairs units. there should be an expectation of single family apartment living verses the current situation which is more unseen roommate. I have a 2 bedroom and had to move out of the Main bedroom to get away from hearing footsteps, shoe drops, etc. the bathroom are almost directly connected as i can make out cabinets opening, what song is on the radio, tooth brush drops. the stairwell to their unit splits my bedroom and living room which any ascent or descent sounds like a raid which makes it even more unnerving. altogether i would never recommend this property for the price point to anyone given the lack of sound insulation. I have been given 2 options, move to another unit but the price of the unit is much higher, the other option is an early out which puts me close to lease end and is not an option either.
Excellence customer service by the office and maintain staff, their approach is " make you feel at home and everything can be fixed".

I've called for several months about obsessive noise from neighbors and have been totally ignored was told once "Well what do you want me to do about it". I felt that was a pathetic response. I asked the front office if they could perhaps get in touch with the person(s) the noise was coming from, but that seemed above the pay grade of either front office person I talked to.

I can't imagine any of our current staff ever saying this to any resident. We have had high volume of move-ins over the past few months and we hope you understand that with so many new people moving in that we are doing our very best to help everyone adjust to their new surroundings. I have personally reached out to several residents myself to address noise complaints in the past two weeks. THE OUTLOOK AT GREYSTONE is a great place to call home. The staff is courteous and professional, maintenance responds promptly, and it is a safe community. The amenities are great and the environment is kept clean and manicured.

This place is not what it used to be. The staff no longer cares about the security and safety for residents. We have an entrance and exit gate that are usually broken. The exit gate is always open, causing people to enter the property through the exit gate. A neighbor's car was broken into, likely because anyone with ill intentions can easily access this property. If having peace of mind and a secure property are of high importance to you, I highly encourage you to keep looking. You'll notice on the website that they don't even advertise this as a gated community anymore because it is always broken.

Jay, thank you so much for your feedback. We regret that your living experience with us is not meeting your expectations. We assure you that we share your gate frustrations and have taken measures to prevent the gate from being broken in the future. The gate was repaired on 3/4/21 and this time our maintenance team added additional reflectors to it since it is guests that continually cause damage when they don't allow it to fully open before hastily speeding through it. We have experienced the gate being recklessly damaged four times in the past year. Unfortunately, this last time called for a part that had to be special ordered and the wait time was longer than we had hoped. It has been repaired and we are now in the process of upgrading our camera system so that we can hold people more accountable for damages. We can tell from reviewing the footage that the gate is being damaged by irresponsible drivers. Hopefully this new camera upgrade will allow us to be specific in identifying the perpetrator. We agree that peace of mind is important and this is why we are taking all of these extra steps to ensure our community stays as peaceful as possible. Should you ever encounter anything that makes you uncomfortable, please call or email our office and we will resolve the problem and follow up with you personally. You can also reach our courtesy officer after hours by dialing our main office line and waiting for the courtesy officer option where you can have him paged. He will respond promptly and follow up with our staff. Thank you again for your feedback!

I love these apartments! They are clean and quiet. Maitenence is fast, and the style of the apartments are adorable. I love inviting people over and seeing their response to all of the new features added. I love my new door lock system, this makes entering with groceries so much easier.
Since I moved here in August 2020, I have been completely satisfied with the quality & responsiveness of both the office & maintenance staff. While my requests have been routine, I am confident that they would be equally responsive - & more so - for critical issues.

I have been living here a little over 3 years and I dont mind staying another 3 because it has to be the best apartment complex I have ever lived in. Its a quiet, very well kept community. Maintenance is amazing when it comes to promptly answering work orders. The staff is very friendly. This place is kept to high standards which makes it worth living here.

It's a good place, the age is beginning to show here and there but it's a good place. The community is quiet but parking is usually an ordeal. Security is minimal but lighting is pretty great. Seems to be a very big disinterest in security investments such as cameras, controlled entry, etc.

While we certainly understand your frustration about the limited access gate, we will continue to follow CDC guidelines and state and/or county-mandated orders until it is deemed safe and healthy for all! In attempt to limit contamination, the gate is kept open on the property for the time being, as the keypad is a high touch area. The Outlook at Greystone has been great thus far. Ive enjoyed the attentiveness of the manager to the residents needs as well as how quickly the maintenance staff responds to requests. The complex is also beautiful and always well kept.
