What began as a resort getaway for the Low Country elite in the 19th century has blossomed into a thriving community on the outer edge of the Charleston area. Countless buildings in town have been added to the National Register of Historic Places, so the local architecture definitely contributes to the charming atmosphere.
The town has experienced massive growth since the 1980s, meaning many of the apartments and homes are fairly new, and the cost of living is very affordable compared to many places closer to the city. Only about 30 minutes to downtown Charleston via I-26, it’s a great place for commuters to call home. Parents will appreciate the terrific local schools and family-friendly events like the annual Flowertown Festival.

Property Ratings at The Murray
I have lived in The Murray for over a year. It is not the community I moved in to last May. The common corridors and elevators constantly smell like marijuana. Unless you get home before 7:00 the parking is horrible because they do not limit the amount of cars per apartment. I got an email a month ago that a pit bull had gotten out and was roaming the halls of the 100 building. There is dog poop everywhere on the grounds because they do not enforce their policies. If you complain about anything they expect you to tell them who is violating their rules because it is beneath the management to walk their grounds to find out what is really going on. Look around. You will regret choosing this community.

Save yourself the time, money, and energy, and DO NOT rent here. I have lived in a handful of apartment complexes and they are by far the most difficult staff I have ever dealt with. Make 100% sure that you will be fulfilling the entire lease term because they won't help you find anyone to take your lease unless you pay a fee of one month's rent PER MONTH until they "find someone." I had multiple people apply to take my apartment and each were denied even though I saw paper proof of one of the applicants income/paystubs/guarantor income. They would not give those applicants another chance to provide the documentation that would put them far past the renting requirements. The walls are paper thin and I was lucky enough to have neighbors that blasted music literally 14 hours out of the day. After multiple complaints, I was referred to a "compliance officer" for my complaints. The music never stopped. I ended up breaking my lease (3x the monthly rent). When I received my security deposit back, $147 was taken out of my $300 deposit for my last month's water and sewer. My last three bills had been $16.73, $27.69, and $57.43. When we inquired with the leasing office, they let us know that the water bills per unit based off of the water usage for the ENTIRE building. Meaning if my neighbor decided to run their shower for 30 days straight, I (along with everyone else in the building) would be charged an amount based on the entire water usage. It is not water per unit. Even so, this still does not explain the INSANE jump to $147 for the last month (august) of living there (even though I haven't lived in that unit since I left in June). This complex may look appealing based on their social media, which is what fooled me, but wow this was such a giant waste of money, time, and energy. Save yourself the trouble!!!
lets just start off with our elevators are broke since June 21st 2023 July 6th , still not fixed. no compensation, no communication. elderly having troubles, bigger dogs can't go up the steps, moving furniture in 95 % heat on stairs etc 6 cars recently broke into cars getting repo'd in the parking lot trash now all over , no process to walk the premises. pool is not monitored from outsiders coming in using our facility .. terrible mgmt

The apartment and surrounding areas are new and very beautiful. However the walls are extremely thin. The walls are so thin that I can hear neighbors on their phone, when they use the bathroom, cough, and during late night private time. The person who lives above me is very loud. They stomp there feet when walking and drop and drag objects on the floor that are so heavy my ceiling and walls vibrate. At one point the person who lives above was dropping what sounded like weights on the floor and it sounded like the their floor, my ceiling was cracking. This goes on from 5pm until sometimes 2 am. I have had to call the curtsy officer 3 times since moving in. I have also repeatedly reported this matter to the property assistant manager. I have also asked to be moved to another apartment. I often sleep at the hotel down the street in order to have a quiet environment. A resolution is needed from property management about the noise and person living above me.

Murray's apartments are new. They did a first rate job with the overall design of each unit. I love all the cabinet space in the kitchen and the closet area is much larger than expected. I would give them a 5 start rating for the unit. The amenities are great - pool, fitness center, large lounge with wifi. They go out of their way to ensure that you have a great experience. With attractive pricing, I highly recommend the Murray.

The amenities are great, however, the kids at the pool get extremely rowdy making it less than enjoyable. They run and jump into the pool and throw/kick soccer balls across the pool. It would be nice if management did some oversight with this. The gym is great. The apartment overall is ok for a short term solution as there is very little storage. The staff is very friendly.
