STAY AWAY

Living at The Montgomery Apartments has been frustrating due to issues with utilities, deliveries, parking, smoking, noise, safety, theft, and maintenance. Utility Billing Issues: Despite being a single occupant, my water bills are unreasonably high, often in the hundreds of dollars. Management reviewed only three months, ignoring prior discrepancies. Non-Functional Call Box: The call box has been out of service for months, leading to missed deliveries and unsecured packages. Management blamed power surges, but the call box wasn’t working before the outage. Smoking at Building Entrances: Frequent smoking near buildings creates an unpleasant experience for residents and guests. I regularly pass through nicotine and marijuana smoke while walking my dogs. Smoke also permeates the building, impacting comfort. Noise Issues & Thin Ceilings: Ceilings are paper-thin, amplifying every sound. Loud intimate noises from the apartment above and stomping disrupt my peace and scare my dogs. The poor soundproofing makes privacy impossible. Concerns About Community Safety: Questionable individuals are often on the property. Recently, police tased a person outside my building after a loud 30-minute incident, leaving blood on the sidewalk. Their shouting was heard across the complex. My upstairs neighbor then laughed hysterically, further disrupting the peace. These incidents raise serious safety concerns. Package Theft & Car Break-Ins: Package theft and car break-ins are common. The lack of security makes tenants feel unsafe and highlights management’s failure to address these problems. Dirty Hallways & Poor Maintenance: Hallway carpets are filthy, and there’s a persistent odor. The poor upkeep is embarrassing and discourages me from inviting guests. Overall Experience: Living here involves overpaying for utilities, dealing with unreliable deliveries, restrictive parking policies, secondhand smoke, excessive noise, safety concerns, and poorly maintained spaces. Management is reactive rather than proactive in addressing these issues. If you’re considering living here, be prepared for challenges with utilities, building access, security, parking, noise, and maintenance. I hope management improves these conditions for current and future residents.

I don't recommend moving here

we lived in these apartments for almost a year. I’ll start with the fact that upon moving in, it was discovered that the carpets in the apartment stank of dog and there was dog hair, pills, and nails everywhere. to which we were assured that new carpets had been laid in front of us. Well, how can you lie like that? Then our stay was constantly disturbed by insects that climbed out of all the cracks of the apartment, ants, centipedes the size of half a palm, spiders!!! be prepared for them when you move here. no one fights them, only on my own; in a year I changed about 50 insect traps around the apartment. a nightmare !!! Then winter came. and it was impossibly cold in the apartment (and we lived with a small child), the workers threw up their hands - the sly one couldn’t cope with such an area and couldn’t help. There was a draft blowing from all the windows. the next sad moment is noise insulation, neighbors walking with dogs under your windows, which are already barking at 6 in the morning, although there is a place for walking dogs. no one respects anyone!!! The blinds and toilet in the apartment are broken, they treat everything negligently. We left after 11 months - my husband started having problems at work and we had to move out a month ahead of schedule. in the end, no one made concessions, although the agreement does not indicate a word about early departure. We were given a double fine! We always paid everything on time! The result is the same - people have no heart.

Unfortunately, when leaving an apartment prior to the lease end date, there are penalties as stated in the lease agreement, as well as providing a 60 day notice to vacate. Lived here 8 years, now needs to be updated.

I was happy here and did feel safe. Here are pros and cons: Pros: *Safe *Garage - per car $75 *Location - next to 270 and 495 Cons: *Water bill - per lease contract billed is by usage BUT not the case. In fact billed by whole community. My water meter remained broken and never fixed despite requests for months. Note a 2 bedroom /2 bath regardless of usage/rate every month was $130.00 for water. * Water to drink - September 2023 the apt did something to the water system and the water is undrinkable. Tastes disguesting. *Old - needs to be remodled; A/C, water meter, toilets were breaking down. *Floor - I was on 1st floor and I heard every step everyday upstairs. Pray another management company takes over and redoes everything.

I called just to get some information that I didn’t see online about an apartment and I was instantly greeted/interrupted with “Well if you look our website you would see that…” - Sir, clearly I didn’t see it. Nice apartment but the staff is trash.

I haven’t left and neither will you.

The Montgomery is a rare find. It’s hidden, so not many people know about it but the ones who do stay for years. It’s a beautiful property with a ton of greenery that’s in the most central part of Bethesda. You have exits right at the property onto both 270 and 495 that make it easy to get anywhere in the NOVA area as quickly as traffic allows. There’s a ton of shopping and dining around since it’s situated close to Pike and Rose but only 4 miles from downtown Bethesda. The community is older so it’s really solid but upgraded with granite counters, wood floors, and full size washer and dryer in all the homes. At the end of the day, it’s still an apartment community. You’re going to have a neighbor who may not always pay attention to their personal volume levels, or who may break an elevator, or run into the garage, but the property staff is always there to help. You’d be very hard pressed to find such a high valued place with communicative management for a better price.

Call this "Home"

I recently uprooted from decades in Arizona to be near my grandchildren in Bethesda. For many years I was in the apartment leasing business, so I know first-hand what it takes to be a great "leasing partner." It was Jalisa and The Montgomery Apartments that won me over. Her consistent professionalism, patience, guidance, availability and sense of humor took the anxiety out of my cross-country move. This community is lovely; close to everything while nestled away in lush greenery. Great staff, great location, great community. After traveling 2,300 miles I feel I have found "home" again.

Amazing staff and management makes all the difference!

I have moved a lot in my life and lived in many different apartments, condos, and houses across the state. The Montgomery Apt is one of the best managed properties I have ever rented. I have visited and considered over a dozen different places around the town before finally deciding to sign with this place, and Gloria at the rental office is who ultimately made it happen. She was extremely helpful right from the beginning. She is very personable, patient and always goes above and beyond to deliver the best value to her renters. She gave me many valuable advices even before my commitment and this ultimately gave me the confidence to trust that I am making the right choice…and sure it was! The Montgomery is a very well maintained property and everyone here is friendly and respectful of each other. I feel very safe walking around the property even after dark and most amenities including grocery stores, banks, restaurants and schools are all within an easy walking distance. The Amazon hub inside the main building is super convenient and necessary for my online retail therapy, and the pool, gym, common area and covered parking structure are all very well maintained. I love my unit, which Gloria helped me to get, for its convenient location, a large walk-in closet, a separate laundry room, a cozy fire place and a plenty built-in storage unit! I admit this place isn’t cheap, but I think it is a great value for money. It is pet friendly and the management often hosts social events and invite food truck which is fantastic. The only thing I wish they had is an electric vehicle charging station - they have one regular outlet which is too slow and insufficient to charge for every day use. However there are a number of charging stations around the property near the mall so it is still possible to own an electric vehicle here. Overall I am very happy that I have chosen the Montgomery and I can’t thank Gloria enough for making it all happen for me :)

They Are Awesome!

The Montgomery apartments is a wonderful place to call home. I moved in this week and Jalisa was awesome in assisting me from start to finish. I got a chance to meet everyone in the office and the whole team were great! I received a nice move in gift and another tour to my apartment. WE'RE HOME!

The Montgomery apartments is where you should call home! I moved here recently with my daughter and we are happy to call this place home. The staff were amazing as well. Jalisa helped make my move in smooth and easy. Gloria, Melissa, & Jennifer we're all very helpful as well when Jalisa was busy. I have lived at a lot of other communities but none as wonderful as The Montgomery. You should rent here!

Awesome Apartment + Great Staff

I have nothing bad to say about The Montgomery. The apartment is great (The best one I have ever lived in), the location is great, and the staff is top-shelf. Specifically, Jalisa & Gloria in the office are without a doubt amazing. Anything I have needed from them has been met with attention & care, not to mention that they both know me on a first name basis, which immediately show me their commitment to their job & their tenants. Excellent Location, Apartment, and Experience

I just moved in to my apartment and it is spacious, clean and tidy. The complex is located close to bus stops, a grocery store and other small shops, and two metro stations. The community is quiet, and the other residents have been very nice. Definitely move-in if you can!

Hidden Gem

We moved in a few weeks ago and our experience living here has been amazing!!!! Our apartment is beautiful, spacious and has tons of natural light. The office staff is so welcoming and friendly and truly went above and beyond to make our move in experience great!!! The improvements completed throughout the community over our short time here have made us feel even better about choosing to call the Montgomery home. Our neighbors are friendly and the amenities are awesome and always kept clean. We almost didn't choose to move here based on a few bad reviews, but we are SO happy we didn't let them stop us from picking this community.

Quiet, Reasonable Rents, Lovely Location

We moved into the Montgomery Apartments in North Bethesda about a year ago at the height of the Pandemic breakout. Everything had to be handled online & via phone, & the staff was really great about accommodating all our needs & wants in scouting out the apartments. We really appreciated all their efforts in helping us to find just the right apartment in the complex, especially as we were staying in an AirBnB with little time left after moving cross country. They really went above and beyond! We especially want to give a nod and big thank you to Gloria, who has really been there for us throughout our residency so far right from the beginning (she really was amazing & a big part of why we decided to rent here), and to Casey as well for being so great. Now that we've been here almost a year, we felt it was time to write up a proper review for anyone interested in the complex. There are a lot of old reviews for the property that aren't great, and that did almost put us off renting here, but we are happy to report the property is now really actually quite fabulous - and the staff is SO great. Our apartment is spacious, comfortable, attractive, and has all the amenities. Washer / Dryer, all the kitchen appliances plus disposal, and the air conditioning and heat are great in the main areas. (The air conditioning is a bit weak in the bedroom & they can't seem to fix it but we manage with a supplemental fan.) It's also the QUIETEST place we've ever lived. You can hear traffic noise a bit at times, but with the windows closed, it is really amazing how quiet it is here. And if you do have any noise issues, management is happy to help. You may read a lot of old reviews about the ELEVATORS. Just to be clear, they work now! Every now and then they may not be available because someone is moving in or out, but otherwise they work just fine. Also, the garage doors & callboxes were recently updated as well. There are Amazon lockers for package delivery, all the property amenities you could want, and we even get regular food trucks on property which is AWESOME. - Real Actual Happy Residents ??

Loving life at Montgomery Apartments!

There’s so many great thing to say about Montgomery Apartments!! The leasing staff was so helpful and accommodating when I moved in a few weeks ago from out of state - it was so nice to know that you have such a great team of leasing agents and maintenance staff always there to help! The grounds are absolutely beautiful, you couldn’t ask for a better landscape ! I love sitting out on my new balcony overlooking the pool at night, as well as my spacious, updated kitchen as well. The countertops are absolutely beautiful. I can’t wait to entertain here! My two dogs also love it here as well - we love going on walks, especially to the dog park where they have a cute little fire hydrant! It is so inviting and my two boys love their walks and fun at the dog park! Montgomery Apartments is sure to be out forever home! ??

Rude and Unprofessional Staff Members

Today was supposed to be the move-in date for the apartment. The staff members made me wait in the lobby for 90 minutes to give me the keys. After complaining about the 90 minute wait time, they replied with such rude behavior. They're so rude and unprofessional and they don't know what they're doing. Don't be fooled by their behavior before you sign the lease agreement.

Property is good on the surface

Parking garage is not secure. Many of the community amenities like the grills, and parking lot elevator, do not work. The washing machines and dryers inside the units are very old and break frequently. The lighting in the community is dim, lots of wildlife running around as a result.

Run!

Save yourself a lot of problems and rent elsewhere. Fairfield Residential took over the property about a year ago, and since then things have gotten bad fairly quickly. The hallway carpeting is absolutely disgusting. It's full of dog poop and urine stains and you can smell it throughout the hallway. The power in the buildings go out every other week for no apparent reason. The maintenance staff does not respond to requests for weeks at a time. When they do respond, the problem doesn't get fixed. I've lived here for two years, and this actually use to be a nice place I would've recommended. I'm so glad my lease is almost up.

Looks Are Deceiving

The most unprofessional management I have ever seen. I was told that they were processing my application to hold and rent the apartment. I was not only told a different price, the Montgomery Apartments leased the apartments without communicating that It was rented out. No effort was made to apologize for the agent or the manager's rude behavior, toward me and my wife. I would not recommend this apartment. Make sure you look in the cabinets because they have water damage and are old. Online they look amazing, however they are not well maintained and the hallways smell like wet dog and mildew.

Apartment 308

The apartment is well maintained. However, DO NOT move into apartment 308. The residents who live above have a child who jumps and runs back and forth. You can also hear them arguing and slamming doors at 4:30 in the morning. When you complain to the management, they'll tell you to relocate to another unit and charge you a $500 relocation fee.

AVOID - I actually give it 0 stars

Unless you like noise, rude pet owners, or management more interested in raising rents and reducing the quality of the apartments, then you should avoid this complex. Don't be fooled by their multi-million renovation. Yes, new appliances, but half the quality of the previous ones. Pet owners believe it is their right to let their pets go without leashes, especially in the hallways, or use 20 foot leashes that allow their "family" member to snap at you or jump on you. Only about half the owners actually clean up after their pets, and even others who allow the pets to urinate and defecate in the apartment buildings' hallways. And the management does nothing to stop this. And security? What security? The management allow outside contractors to enter your apartment with no staff supervision. In addition, there is no one sided security deadbolts. Therefore, maintenance can enter your apartment anytime. In one case I was in the shower when maintenance entered. In addition, many lights throughout the exterior of the buildings are out of order. There are many areas within this complex that are pitch black at night. And then there are the garage doors. Forget about them. They are usually open to allow anyone access to the complex. This complex has a great location, but the management has failed at their job miserably to make these apartments any type of secure and pleasant home. Don't waste your time here.
