Goldenwest is known as one of Huntington Beach’s best commercial hubs. Located only five miles from Downtown Huntington Beach, Goldenwest has grocery stores, diverse eateries, clothing stores, and other businesses. Goldenwest is also less than a mile from Bella Terra, an alfresco mall with over one million square feet dedicated to a movie theater, restaurants, boutiques, juice shops, and more. Goldenwest is family-friendly with several schools within walking distance nearby. Although locals certainly have beach days, you’ll also find Goldenwest residents at Murdy Park and Community Center watching youth sports games, practicing ollies at the skate park, or taking an art class. This convenient, laid-back neighborhood offers mid-range to upscale rentals in a variety of styles. Brightly colored houses and Spanish-style apartments flanked by neat rows of palm trees line the area.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at The Maddox
No complaints. There has been a lot to appreciate about this community. The calm and the size of the community is nice and the staff is very attentive. The complex is well kept. Also, parking is typically readily available within the residential neighborhood. I've renewed several times and likely will continue :).
For starters, my husband and I moved from Westminster to Huntington Beach. The staff at Maddox was very helpful, accommodating and professional. Melissa was our leasing agent at the time and she was fantastic. When our first year was up, we really wanted to stay, however, we indicated to the manager that we were possibly relocating in 6 months (for work) and were concerned that the rent would be too astronomical to rent month to month and signing a 1 year lease would not be best for us because the likelihood was good that we would be moving. Cindy (the BEST) apartment manager EVER, approved us to sign a 6 month lease and "IF" we had to go early, she would work with us. She only charged us the standard rental increase, of which is unheard of with any apartment community. You are a dollar sign and apartment number...but not at Maddox. They genuinely CARE about their tenants. When we signed our new lease, heck, when we signed our first lease, they gave us a very nice gift card for dinner at one of our favorite restaurants. I have NOT in my 30 years of renting, had any community treat us that way. I remember once my husband asked Cindy for a light bulb so we could change a light in our apartment (we don't need maintenance to do that). I thought she was going to fall out of her chair. Hahah! When we got home later that evening, we had Starbucks gift cards for 2 free coffee's taped to our door. Seriously? I was flabbergasted! She didn't have to do that....but that is what they do at Maddox. They treat their tenants like family...guests in their home. I will say, it broke my heart to leave such an amazing community. We moved to Florida and you know, they gave us almost ALL of our security deposit back (only charged for cleaning...minimal), gave us 100% of our pet deposit back...and you know, we moved a week early and they even gave us back our money for the week we were not there. I could go on and on and on about how wonderful this property is. It is clean, safe, beautiful...it was home...it really felt like home. Thank you Cindy and Maddox for instilling some faith back into us about "renting" in apartment communities. You guys at Maddox should teach YOUR WAY of doing things to every darn apartment community worldwide. Thank you again for EVERYTHING...if we ever move back, you bet your behind, we'll be calling Cindy...and I am certain she will be all too ready to welcome us back. We love Maddox and Cindy and we are certain anyone who rents here, will too!
I just moved back to Orange County after being out of state for 5 years and searched more that 20 communities finally choosing the Maddox, it's quiet, close to shopping, beach and dining, The staff was incredible working around my out of state challenges Cynthia and Marie went above and beyond to make my move easier.. the price is competitive, the unit size is well above average, grounds well kept and intimate.. I would recommend this community to anyone.
This place has been amazing. I've lived at Maddox for nearly 6 years but sadly it is drawing to a close. Here's what makes this place special: Very reasonable rent considering it is about 3 miles from the beach. 2BR units are laid out "roommate" style in that each BR has its own bath. The complex is very quiet. If you are a student at nearby Goldenwest CC (1/2 mile away), you will love the ease with which you can study. No restriction on dog size. Covered assigned parking. Little need to use the A/C because of the proximity of the beach. Walking distance to shopping of all kinds. # of available washers/dryers can be looked up online...no need to trudge down to the laundry room, only to find they're all being used. In November 2015, the entire complex will be smoke-free (no smoking anywhere). Nearby park has basketball, and a skateboard area. Though I only had a handful of maintenance requests over the years, it has never taken more than a day to fix, even on mundane problems such as a clogged disposal. Maddox is a gem which could get much more rent if they chose. Only 56 units in the complex so rarely does an apartment stay empty for long. Maddox proves its value by the number of residents who have been here 10, 15, and even 20 years. You do see the 3-4 month renter, but most who rent here, love it here and want to stay.
